I've never watched this show but I'm interested. it looks like its different characters every season so can it be watched in any order? In other words, can I watch season 3 without watching 1 and 2 and not miss anything or are they connected somehow?
This will probably get me to subscribe to HBO NOW.
Not sure if I'm going to watch this season.
I got HBO Nordic because of the True Detective hype and was severely disappointed with the first season. Still have HBO though
The second season wasn't great either but I liked it more than the first season and when I read criticism for the 2nd season I just thought people are kinda criticizing it for the same reasons I didn't like the 1st season. For me the second season had most of the same problems the first season had but at least the situations were much more interesting and entertaining. Plot-wise the first season was a snorefest. Got a bit interesting somewhere around the fifth episode but the last episode was really really bad (except for the final scene which was amazing).
The 1st season is amazing TV. The 2nd season is absolute crap.
Any other opinions on the first two eps yet?
AeonGaidenRaiden
Post what you think after, and the end scene with Wayne & Roland.
I feel like the season 2 disaster made people wary of 3 and it’s not getting the hype it deserves, also the long layoff. Then there’s all the timelines that could confuse viewers. The plot isn’t as straightforward as season 1 but it’s rewarding, IMO.

Seeing ghosts of Vietcong soldiers in your room does not count?Hayes essentially has no internal conflict, and neither does his partner. He's totally unconcerned with his tours in 'Nam and at peace with it all, nothing haunts him
I’ve enjoyed S3 far more than S2, but S1 is in a league of its own. With that said, my only concern for this season, and it’s a huge concern, is if two episodes is enough to wrap things up. The quality of these last two eps is gonna make or break the season as everything has been building up to a tremendous finale.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re like 70-75 minutes.Curious what the runtime of the last 2 episodes are...that might give an indication of how this goes..
Well that was an underwhelming sort of ending.......no grand conspiracies.....just someone fucked up
yeah ...well i guess it gave everyone closure but when you think about it
The dude they beat the shit out of and shot and killed really didn't do anything wrong...unless i missed something..it was never confirmed he killed the mother as she was already fucked up
Lets be honest, it just wasn't very good.
It was a meandering, mumbly, shaggy-dog story with characters that weren't charismatic or compelling enough to carry interest.
The interwoven multiple time-lines added nothing, they simply ensured that there was absolutely zero tension to any of the set-pieces because we already knew the protagonists were going to get through just fine.
It's been like that since the first season though. I'm not getting how people didn't see that back then.
