A complete breakdown of the ins and outs of console performance in Metro Exodus. It's a beautifully crafted first-person shooter in many respects, but also one that pushes PS4 and Xbox One systems hard - with a surprise victor in the frame-rate stakes.
Summary:
- Xbox One X runs at native 4k
- PRO runs at 1440p
- Xbox One runs at dynamic 1080p
- PS4 runs at (dynamic?) 1080p with adapt v-sync and tearing
- Shadow res looks almost the same for all machines
- 30 fps on all machines
- Perfomance Xbox One > Xbox X> PRO > PS4
- PS4 can't sustain 30 fps with alpha effects unlike Xbox One in the same scene, turning the worst perfomance between all consoles
- Dynamic res really paying off for Xbox One, making the best overall perfomance of all consoles
- Some input lag spoted.
- Fun fact: Somethink is wrong with gamma level in all Xbox system, the same happens with Crackdown 3 creating black crush. Even trying to tunning up or down in game options don't solve. Tom call Microsoft for that, but still no response. He hopes for a fix soon.
