2 months left day for day until that time of the year that is E3. It sure feels insane to see time pass by so fast, but pretty soon the period of leaks and speculations from all around the corner will come to happen once again as of every year, leaving a lot of people disappointed for having hopped to see Half-Life 3 getting announced there ( One can dream though ).

But this year will be quite unusual for E3 as Sony will not be attending in any form the event for the first time since the first edition of E3 held in 1995, leaving the other big two companies Microsoft and Nintendo left on the field, alongside all the other « small « attendants such as Ubisoft and Bethesda. This is something that will definitely be seen as an advantage for Microsoft and Nintendo, and that’s what is gonna make this edition perhaps more exciting this year. Now that Sony seems to have taken a different direction, it will all be about Microsoft and Nintendo, and maybe for once they will start to go on full mode and show us what they really got up their joysticks.

Here are my personal expectations for the major conferences of this year’s E3 :

Microsoft : Last year’s conference was definitely a good one, and I really hope this one won’t stop the trend. I’m hoping to see more of Microsoft and Nintendo’s partnership and what it could possibly mean to us gamers. Meanwhile, here’s hoping to see new Xbox hardware announcements and more studio acquirements ( good studios though ), to end up with another huge bunch of game reveals. Dino Crisis and Splinter Cell are heavily rumored to finally see the light of day, so this year could really turn out to be another win from Microsoft. But we’re not there just yet !

Nintendo : Like every year, the conference that I await for the most, as a huge Nintendo fanboy I admit. Since 2019 is surely shaping up to be a bigger and better year than 2018, a lot of games, existent and unannounced, will be presented in the dare I say « conference « and hopefully this time, we will get to see Pikmin 4, F-Zero, or maybe even Retro Studios’s secret game, because when it comes to Nintendo, there’s just something in them that makes you feel excited all over again every year even after you’ve been left countless of times disappointed by them because there has been no new F-Zero game announced.

Ubisoft : Now that Vivendi is out of here, Ubisoft can finally spare the risk of having to see their creative process being harmed over by the likes of investors who has no soft spot for videogames. This year would be the right time to show their true strength by focusing on their line-up, such as games like Beyond Good & Evil 2, Skulls and Bones, and hopefully a new Splinter Cell game at last, with Watch Dogs 3 as a perfect complement.

Bethesda : After the whole Fallout 76 fiasco, it is a necessity for Bethesda to forgive themselves alongside their fans by first off perhaps giving them a Fallout 3/New Vegas remaster as last year was supposed to be the 10th anniversary of Fallout 3. Aside from the Fallout stuff they’re definitely going to mention, we hope to see what Arkane Studios and Tango Gameworks eventually have up their sleeves. I hope to see Starfield there even though they said they won’t talk about Starfield nor The Elder Scrolls 6 this year. For ES6 I mean I get it since it still must be in pre-production, but didn’t they say that key parts of Starfield were pretty much « playable « to quote the sayings of Todd Howard. I’ll keep my expectations as low as I can given how stocked I am for this game, but it’s never totally out of reach that Starfield might after all has his little word to say during the conference...

Devolver Digital : I don’t know if you would really love to describe it as a « conference « but they’ve pulled out a lot of decent games over the past. So yeah, prepare yourself for another round of bloody skits on all the bad shit coming from the gaming industry of nowadays, hopefully more focused on game announcements.

Limited Run Games : Gamers love physical boxes, there’s your reason why Limited Run Games’ conference will be looked forward to by a lot of people. What will be there ? Well, games that deserve to have a physical release, because you’re someone who must love to contemplate the box art or the game disc more than playing the game itself.

Which conference are you the most excited for this year, GAF ? Doesn’t Sony’s absence really bother you or not ? What games do you hope to see the most from the attendants this E3 ? Make sure to leave your thoughts down the comment section ‘cause in just a few weeks, it’s about to get real. And you should definitely expect to see more threads like this because if you better want the hype train to not run out of steam, you better start getting hyped.

( This thread and poll will be updated every time there will ( hopefully ) be a new conference announced for E3. So stay tuned ! )

Hmm, I am not actually looking forward to any of them. Unless there is some hardware announcement, I may just sleep until next year.

Does SquareEnix have anything this year?

I'm mostly looking for news from Limited Run and Devolver (I voted LRG) because I want dem shmups to come out on physical format.

I'm sure the other companies will show off great stuff but I'm still waiting to buy stuff from 2016. I'm eager to see what is shown, disappointed by nothing at all, and generally geeked out to see what is on offer without any hype or expectations of being impressed.

Norhing, Microsoft will show again vaporware and games for xbox4 from their "new studios" that will not come until at least 2021, and maybe a cgi of their new console, Nintendo a New Mario and Zelda which i dont care and Sony is not there.

Probably a new gameplay video of Cyberpunk 77 is the only thing that could save it for me.

I can't wait to watch Bethesda pretend Fallout 76 wasn't the biggest industry disaster in the last decade.

In absence of Sony i will watch Microsoft E3 and maybe Bethesda. I expect a Sony update on at least a couple of games though. Maybe launch dates or some info, but i don't going to hold my breath.

I will watch it all as i always do, because the cringe makes it worthy of a good laugh.

To be fair i'd put that award in Biowares lap.

Who knows, so few games get me super excited anymore that I'll just go in expecting nothing hoping something stands out.

There's Dino Crisis and Perfect Dark rumors so I'll keep an eye out.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Definitely Microsoft. Last year's show was basically just a string of awesome game trailers. Hoping we get word and a bit of clarification on some of their next-gen plans (backwards compatibility with Xbox One games, 360, OG, etc) and maybe some Game Pass surprises.

Microsoft. Looking forward to see what new exclusives they have to show. Hope they show off at least one insane looking next-gen game :lollipop_smiling_face_eyes:

MS for Halo Infinite alone - they'd better give it a proper showing this time though. Gimme the gameplay!!!

Microsoft's next gen unveiling has got me excited. Don't know what to expect, but hoping for a great showcase.

Nintendo by 10 miles.

But I am interested in seeing MS conference, since they have been pretty enjoyable in the last couple of years.

Microsoft:
- I'm curious to see their next gen plans
- Want to see more of Halo Infinite
- Probably going to get the majority of third party announcements of companies that still want to show their games at a big E3 conference.
- Hopefully at least a glimpse of something their new studios are working on

Nintendwho?

All about Microsoft this year. I can sense without Sony's presence that they're going to make the most of it.

I’ve put Nintendo because I want to see more on Astral Chain and Pokémon.
I do expect Sony to do something on the side like a Nintendo Direct. But I’m not really interested.
MS hasn’t done anything interesting for years for me, so I’m not even sure I’ll watch it.

I rather have a cool story trailer as we stil know nothing about that!

I guess Microsoft, despite how boring their conferences are to me (I don't care about the typical Assassin's Creed type of multiplatform games or racers). I'm hoping Halo Infinite is shown and is something cool. Bethesda isn't showing anything worth waiting for, Nintendo might have a couple cool gems inside of a bunch of stuff that doesn't matter to me, Ubisoft has nothing I care about, ect. Hopefully Sony puts their own thing out with some PS5 news or something.

Microsoft had a great conference last year and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do this year.

Devolver always puts on a good show.

Ubisoft will show their new batch of open world carbon copies

Microsoft will swing and miss again despite The Undisputed Champ not even being there

Nintendo will have the fiends waiting for the titles they announce for 2019 and 2020

Bethesda is a footnote now

EA will try to be upbeat but will have the same old slop in the trough.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I really don't know, outside publishers release info and MS's show E3 was really a Playstation thing.
It's not gonna be the same, so MS I guess.

1. Ubisoft
2. Bethesda
3. Microsoft
4. Square Enix (if they have a E3 video showcase)
5. Nintendo

Probably won’t bother watching this year....
I’ll check in here when I can and get the main headlines. Without Sony it feels... a bit empty and not exciting.

After Sony's disaster of an E3 last year, I can't really blame them for skipping E3 this year.

I expect MS and Nintendo to show some interesting things this year though.

Microsoft conference for a next Xbox hardware announcement, new first/third party game reveals/announcements.
Devolver Digital conference for a new game announcement from Dennaton Games.

Devolver Digital is the only correct answer. I laughed my ass off last year.

The others will only disappoint and I'm quite low on expectations this year, MS revealing nextgen plans or not.

Definitely Microsoft. Give me anything Fable related and a few scraps of next gen information and I’ll be a happy camper. Easy peasy

I said Nintendo, but I honestly expect very little from this end-of-gen E3– especially with Sony sitting out and with Gen9 still probably about 18 months from beginning. My guess is that Nintendo will have the most “surprises”. Microsoft usually has an all-right event. I expect Bethesda to lay a shitty egg, and Ubisoft to be boring.
