Why do I have to scroll through a million icons to get to my library? Why waste the front page with my friends activity feed when I just want to start up a game instead?

I feel like you haven’t used the PS4 UI before.
You can move the Library app to the front if you wish, the bar is extremely customisable. The activity feed is on the same bar and isn’t in the way. If you turn it off on a folder it starts back up on that folder.

*e : turns out I had the update during the night. Can still use the default voice commands, so it's fine. I already had Cortana disabled anyway, since she had too many bugs that made it unpractical on Xbox (like ask "hey Cortana, start Rayman Legends" and she would ask "do you mean Rayman Legends or Rayman Legends ?").

Didn't actually know you could change it. Can you change it from horizontal to show more icons on the screen, because that would make the UI so much better.

I'd say on par with Xbox One UI, which neither isn't the greatest, but the best there is atm imo.

Really want a faster OS. It’s generally fine if you reset it every few days, but I want it to be much snappier. Hopefully this update helps.

I've never have to reset my UI. My Xbox One had a slow UI, but it runs flawless on the One X

No, the bar remains horizontal.
But you can drag the icons left and right or create folders and then move the icons about within the folders. I only have 5 or so icons on the main bar.

PS4 is the worst UI in history with major waste on the home screen.

And now they won because of the UI? First it was because of the graphics, then the exclusives, and now the UI? How the winning factor keeps changing is pretty interesting.

PS4 UI is faster and easier to navigate. The fact that MS keeps making major changes to the UI goes to show you that it's not nearly as good as Xbox fanboys make it out to be.

Or, and I’m just spitballing here, they like to keep it fresh and new. The changes are realistically minimalistic, but the new tile appearances, make it look shiny again.

iOS and Android do the same shit. It all runs the same in the background, but the user experience changes.

I think if you went back to ios 7 or 8, can’t remember what they were on when the XB1 and PS4 launched, you would find it very jarring.

Calling people liars because they don't agree is a bit extreme. As someone who's experienced both when it's crazy laggy and crazy fast, it comes down to like many others have said your internet speed usually because it caches so many things instead of loading it locally

PS4 is in fact faster and there's no denying it. The Xbox One UI is sluggish compared to the Xbox One, even the Xbox One X. People who says otherwise is lying.

I have a fast connection, and if my connection needed to be even faster to make for a smoother UI experience, then it's certainly not as good as you guys are trying to make it out to be.

It's strange because I use google assistant a lot, like my whole house is set up to use voice commands and on my phone I use it..
but when I'm at a Windows PC I can type faster than most can talk so I have no need for voice, and on my consoles I see no use for it at all.

I don't really care what the UI looks like with the guide button overlay enabling you to access everything easily. What I do care for is responsiveness, that's the department the XB1 OS shits the bed tenfold compared to the PS4 one. I use both my XB1X and PS4 Pro with full power off in between gaming sessions (because I want control over when they decide to DL GBs of content), that's probably why the XB1 is such a slug 24/7.

I felt like my XB1X got a tad bit more responsive with the last few updates though. That being said, it's still nowhere close to the speed the PS4 Pro shows when navigating the menus.

I prefer this look by a far margin, I have 360 games group, and One games group and can display them all on one screen. I hate the scrolling I have to do when having 30+ games installed on my PS4.

If iOS changed to display one icon at the screen at a time and scroll through 50 apps to get to the one you want people would loose their shit.

I like parts of the Xbox UI and like how MS tries major redesigns from time to time. They even have an insider program for people to try and give feedback.

I just hope they have managed to make it faster and smoother. I swear, it is hard to believe that it is still so janky and prone to just freezing and becoming unresponsive. It actually seems like it has gotten worse as time has gone on.

Same with the PS4 really. The TV & Video section can slow down even on a Pro because it has to load all the fucking ads when I just want to go to YouTube.

It runs at the same speed as an OG xbox one and it's only slightly quicker to get to the dashboard. The OG PS4 by comparison is liquid smooth and quick. No idea about the Switch though as I don't own one.

FWIW, the PS4 UI also becomes less responsive over time, when you have a lot of games installed.

They need to focus on PERFORMANCE. Load all blades in the background, 60fps 1080p.

I would welcome a complete overhaul of the general style of the Windows-esque blocks. I don't have a solution, but I would want something more sleek and stylish. That won't happen though.

I hate this shit. Why do I have to actively pin the apps I play to a ‘pinned’ screen? Why do I need to press down from the home screen to get to my ‘pinned’ apps? Why do Microsoft assume that whatever shit they are peddling this month (be it Game Pass, Mixer or whatever) is more important on my main primary screen than apps that I f’ing pinned as the most important?

The dominant design (PS4, Switch) is having a long list of games ordered by the most revently played as the first thing you get. Microsoft has just been trying to resist the dominant design.

The post I quoted never even said a thing about ps4 and I never said ps4 wasn't faster...

Edit: also is you're talking just about general speed then yeah PS4 is faster for sure but if you're talking about accessibility, a lot of things can be done extremely fast compared to ps4. Stuff like opening friends list, accessing options, starting a party, can be done in a fraction of the time since it requires many less button presses.

I've never used an Xbox One and didn't find the UI very sluggish and stuttery. One X did not change that. I don't know how Microsoft thinks it's smooth enough.
