I do. I used Freuds' Id. as a shorthand for the unbridled darkside of all of us. When you have anonymity without the accountability, then this lets chaos reign. Society is built on accountability in a grand sense. It was since the first two humans decided they were stronger together than apart. "Social Media" and the internet, as it turns out, is a corruption of community. A bastardization of what makes us human. To connect. You can't do it with likes, posts, or hell even texts. To make that human connection with someone, you have to see them in person. To feel their presence,...their life force. Might sound weird, but its true. And younger people, who grew up in this dark age of human connection, don' t know that as well as others just a decade older. Which leads to your point, that people do take it seriously...Fuck man its sad. If you whole life (and/or livelihood) is on social media, then you are susceptible to whims of a lawless mob without an ounce of forgiveness or humanity.

The internet, and social media has its pros for sure, but damn man, we as humans aren't ready for the cons....and moreover, these cons are being exacerbated by rich guys in hoodies who know good damn well that they are praying on the dark insecurities of all of us.

(I did your point about all of us not focsuing on great psychologists....It falls into the greater picture that high level thinking, philosophy, reaching up to our better angels of understanding, forgiveness, and knowledge are no longer valuable traits).

This isn't really a brute force fight, it's a PR fight. They are actually winning on the brute force front in every way. They can shape any narrative they want in every major media source, and no matter what we do they will always paint us as extremists.

I’ve always thought of it as this perversion of the innate desire in all of us to stand out in some way and be exceptional (not “exceptional” mind you) combined with laziness.

Becoming good at the violin, for example, takes time and effort. It’s much easier to dye your hair some unnatural color and self-diagnose as whatever’s trending lately. I’m surprised Chelsea waited as long as she did to come out as non-binary.

People claiming they have anxiety issues really pisses me off, too. If you’ll permit me to get anecdotal in here, I know exactly one person in real life with an actual verified professionally diagnosed anxiety disorder and she does. Not. Talk about it. Thank you for the links and the material. It was really good and informative. I wanted to just like it and leave it like that at first but then thought that a post like that deserves more than just a like. The ted talk was really good when it comes to not understanding the circumstances that can lead to everyone going crazy. It was just meant to be a joke and people went too far. Yet about the Alec cancel culture it was the same. We knew nothing of Alec's side and everyone just plotted against him without many questioning if the allocations are even true.
