Inclusion is a scam. Some shit needs to be excluded or the whole thing falls apart. Bullies enforce social order but it needs to be kept in check if it starts straying towards picking on people for things they can’t change. Be judicious in what you label bullying and don’t cast too wide a net. There is a difference between bullying and negative peer feedback. Fragility is a choice. Don’t protect it, especially if you’re only doing so to give yourself a dopamine hit for being a Good Person™. This is how we end up with a bunch of broken narcissists and male feminists running around chasing crumbs and empowering nasty women like Zoe Quinn.

Although it happened because of some very unfortunate things, we were fortunate to have the core of fucked-up GAF rip itself out of this forum, and create its own shithole, as management here simultaneously set out to do a very smart rebuild.

We may not get that lucky again. Gaf is an oasis for people of varied views, backgrounds, styles, and opinions to flourish in a sea of PC insanity.

I agree that being too free to label something bullying is bad. I really like how we can joke about a lot and not take things too seriously, doing a lot of ribbing with each other, as well as the community mostly doing introspections of itself (reminds me that I miss Redneckerz ) and having a really lenient moderation team that knows when to step in and when to not. That said, I think you might be too lenient as well, especially with the term "negative peer feedback". That could just as well represent what happens in places like Resetera or in twitter cancel culture.
I also think there are points for concern, mostly because it lacks a sense of reciprocity at times and feeling of jabber. By this I talk about how some comment in regards to Nobody_Important at times. At times it's certainly in good fun or just elbow nudge in the side, but at times I would also say it might be too much and more vindictive. Still, I think that might the only example I can think of, so I don't know if I'm missing something other than that or if it's MiyazakiHatesKojima doing a Kojima twist and playing us like a damn fiddle.

People who can’t keep up (aka compete) have a tendency to resort to underhanded, authoritarian tactics like silencing those who can. Then people will start getting banned for jokes that were incorrectly labelled shitposts and the forum meta will shift towards callout culture and demonising anyone with a sense of humour as a shitposter. In this case, you’ve just handed all the power back to the fragile Ree types. Do you want Cunth banned? This is how you get Cunth banned.

It didn’t happen because of bullying and shitposting. The solution is not more mod flexing; it’s allowing the forum to rid itself of fragility so that “bullying” isn’t necessary. Take my dismissive joke at gatti-man’s expense here. I’ll use myself so no one else gets dragged in. On the internet, these are the Blue Checkmark Ree types, not GAF shitposters clowning around, often with themselves as the butt of the joke. Don’t conflate the two and don’t call for more mod flexing because that will have unintended consequences. It’s like we just rid ourselves of communism and everyone is revelling in the newfound freedom, but then there’s a generational switch and the new generation is a bit more sensitive to the warts of freedom so they start calling for more communism.
