Your post brings to mind something I've been seeing more often lately.
Random people harassing artists on twitter because they don't like people drawing fanart or pictures where the women have large breasts.
If you read through some of the comments you'll notice a familiar pattern.
Trite phrases like "WHERE ARE HER ORGANS!?", "DO YOU KNOW ANATOMY", "OUCH HER BACK!" and randomly cycling through using objectification, sexualization and oversexualization in an attempt to make their posts seem like there's an intelligent point to be made.
And this kind of thing has been increasing in frequency on Twitter this year.
It seems mindless, in the sense that attempts to correct the people who make these idiotic posts on artists' twitter posts are not met with intelligible responses most of the time. Instead they double down on things that make absolutely no sense. Like the "WHERE ARE HER ORGANS!?" thing makes literally zero sense any time it's used. There are plenty of thin people on this planet, all of which have organs, yet these people pretend that because a cartoon character is thin, that somehow means that they have no internal organs.
It seems like they've bought into a particular idea that says these things are evil, and that any comment, even if that comment doesn't make any actual sense is justified because it's calling out something they perceive as bad.
What's funny about this whole thing, this new wave of puritanism is how closely it resembles the old outrage that pissed off Christians had with sex and violence when I was a kid. Which isn't a surprise since most of the concepts I've seen are more or less directly lifted sans the religious/scripture based context.
They unironically adopt and push ideas that are contradictory to their stated message. Like modesty being a fundamental pillar of a women's self worth. This is seen in criticism over video game character designs all the time. They'll on one hand say that a women's self worth is dependent on her actions as a person, but if she's wearing clothing that exposes some of her skin they'll revert to 1950's mode and state that she's a sex object (euphemism for slut/whore) and she is worth nothing as a person until she covers up the requisite number of skin cells in order to regain her person-hood.

You’re either down with these movies regardless of their quality, or you’re alt-right. Seriously, seeing posters trying to bait another guy over there for daring to say the Ghostbusters demake sucked and knowing that calling it out would probably get me a warning, but doing it anyway and getting a month ban plus a threat of worse was hilariously on brand.
TLJ in particular went hard in added diversity (which I have no problem with to be frank), but also essentially destroyed the mainline film franchise by being so disastrously bad. The criticism leveled toward the quality of the movie is absolutely valid but RE can’t seem to even contemplate separating a movie’s representationing from its actual merit as a film. And because the movie sucked so fucking bad against the expectations people had, it’s inviting a shit ton of criticism, which only fuels the persecution complex and makes them dig in more on defending it. Defending TLJ is like their Helm’s Deep, right down to Aragorn knocking Gandalf off his horse during his charge to tell him only love will beat the orcs and shit.
It just goes to show the power of the mind: it can distort everything around you to fit your own narrative.
