I am about 3 or 4 planets in. I will say make sure after you complete the Wind Puzzles go back and explore the original starting planet. There are 3 goodies waiting for you there. 2x Estu... Ahem, Stim packs and the other

With the stutters I'm still experiencing, it makes it impossible to plan on Grandmaster level. Still got a couple cheap deaths on master too. But the combat feels pretty badass once you get the parry timing dialed in. Looking forward to unlocking the saber throw eventually, to get SOMETHING remotely ranged. Having played so many shooters, it feels weird to have absolutely NO ranged attack available. I find myself at times wishing I could yell at stormtroopers in the distance to get them to shoot at me so that I can take them out of the equation prior to engaging nearby melee enemies. Story is pretty interesting so far. But have to imagine you find out later on that the
force sensitive younglings
have already been
have already been dealt with by Vader or something..

There's a move that lets you block blaster fire automatically while dashing. It sounds not that powerful, but it basically just lets you sprint right at any ranged storm trooper and they're helpless as you close the distance.

Is 'That Pure Potato'
I was cruising along then hit a game-halting bug, unfortunately. Without spoiling anything, some context-related thing I am supposed to press R3 on never appears for me. I watching some videos and see where it is supposed to occur, it just won't for me. I tried my earliest save but it's busted too.

So I guess I either need to wait for a patch or start over.

Aside from that it's an OK game. It needs some polish,

I wish your force regenerated a hell of a lot faster. You barely even have enough to do a couple strong attacks before you're out.

Yeah, this is stupid and again just a poor design decision. Though probably explains why it takes ages to wind up and attack. It's even under the lightsaber abilities I think....?

Am I supposed to know how to fix a Scomp Link early on or does that come later?

No, it's an upgrade later ;)

I'm about 4-5 hours in and, technical issues aside, I'm really enjoying it. This game is a secret love letter to Metroid Prime that I wish they would have done a better job showcasing prior to the game coming out.

how long to beat says between 13-23 hours but not sure it's reliable yet.

Finished my first tomb and I’m impressed. It isn’t a rubbish tomb that you finish in 5-10 minutes

Hopefully there’re more than 2-3 tombs during the whole game because usually tombs that deep aren’t much in games.

Sounds like we hit the same bug.

just started it. i wasn't expecting this kind of game! it's like Star Wars x Dark Souls and I absolutely love that.

Combat so far doesn't feel as fluid as a Souls game but it's heavily inspired by them. Controls feel a bit awkward sometimes. I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the analog sticks. Really loving the first area and the way the map is designed. I actually want to explore it and not just rush through it to progress the story. I've already had my ass handed to me by some big creature.

The only thing I don't like gameplay wise is how it's straight up copying Tomb Raider/Uncharted with all the climbing. It's not terrible but that kind of gameplay doesn't do anything for me.

Anybody else finds it difficult to parry on Grand master? Damn, the time window is so small...

I find myself all the time dodging and waiting for an opening rather than actually parry, specially if the game puts me in a narrow place with 5/6 stromtroppers attacking me at the same time.

Players could get better if they weren't 40-50 seconds on loading screens after each time they got killed.

Also I don't quite understand how do you do the one hit kills similar to Sekiro. I believe I barely do it because I'm barely managing hitting a parry lol.

Game is okayish, pretty buggy. I'm playing on the PS4 and I had flickering objects, freezes during autosaving, one complete freeze and one situation when after a respawn I ended up stuck under the floor and kept dying. I didn't like the Souls mechanics at first, but they're pretty non-intrusive and I got to used to them. Now I even like having to worry about stim reserves and increasing them through perm upgrades.

I am now deep into the game and have acquired my last "forgotten" jedi ability. Won't spoil it. But I'm deep into Kashyyk, in the shadowlands and beyond, and let me tell you it's the best representation I've seen in a game yet, maybe the SWBF2 map comes close. But there are certain points when you're exploring and climbing that the camera pans waaaaay out and lets you take in the size and scale of everything. Some really neat vistas on Kashyyk, quite well done imo.

This review tells it how the game REALLY is...out of the hype train just because it is a star wars game, whatever atmosphere and story it brings:

Just got done from the second tomb and I decided to stop for the day. Game started clicking more and more as I progress and that’s a good thing in my book.

The HDR in this game is trash. I have no patience for shitty HDR implementation to get a box ticked for advertising. It’s like when Red Dead 2 came out. There is no option to set the white/black levels independently, so if you brighten the image you get better highlights but then you wash out the shadows. And due to there being no toggle for HDR in games on Xbox, I have to turn this shit off on a system level every time I want to play. Get your shit together Respawn.

Enjoying the game overall. The combat took a while to get used to but I'm getting the hang of it.

My main complaints are- I wish I could create my own MC, and I wish the customization options we have were better. I just can't believe that poncho is one of the only costume options we have. What about more outfits, some jackets, other cool shit.

Getting vibes reminiscent of exploring new areas in FF7-10 with nice music playing in the background. Spending most of my time looking around at the environment instead of playing.

Haven't tried it yet, didn't have had enough time but judging from the videos... am I the only one who thinks the main character looks like an insufferable twat?

I saw some person reviewing it use the phrase "babys first dark souls game" and I went from total disinterest, to mild interest. The idea of playing a jedi with dark souls style combat sounded quite interesting to me.

From the Steam page.

STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER DELUXE EDITION
Get the story behind the game with the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Deluxe Edition, including:

  • Cosmetic skin for BD-1
  • Cosmetic skin for the Stinger Mantis
  • Digital art book
  • "Director's Cut" behind-the-scenes videos, featuring over 90 minutes of footage from the making of the game

I wonder if the documentary is on the disc or if you get a download code. If its actually included on the disc I would consider getting it. But if its digital I'll pass, I dont like paying extra for digital content.

Pretty sure I’m getting close. I expect I’ll finish it today. Not sure if I’ll get platinum or not depends what sort of work it will take. I may be able to take tomorrow off as well if I’m nearly finished. I think I could finish within a couple of hours I have all my main force powers now so I can get to everywhere so I’m going around cleaning out all the planets first.

I really wish I had more force to use. Thought there are some really nice high level tricks that don’t use force and it feels pretty wicked fighting when you’re almost fully upgraded.

One of the things that drag this game down the most for me is that I have no care or interest in the main character or his story. I am enjoying playing but I agree with this completely.

He’s alright. Funny sometimes but sure is not a bad character or a lame one which is a good thing

This game has consistently surprised me. I can’t believe how much fun I’m having. It reminds me of when I first played Dark Souls, or even Super Metroid. There’s so many shortcuts and secrets, each level is a ton of fun to explore. I’ve haven’t been this hooked on a game in a while. It’s great.

It’s fun, but starting to drag. About 8 hours in. I’m really not a graphics guy at all, but I’m surprised at how janky it is. Too many uncharted moments for me too.

It's ok, but i'm not feeling compelled to keep playing. I'm not feeling the characters or their quest after whatever macguffin they need. What's left is something i've seen in countless games before.

Yeah luckily it seems to look good on my TV but it's annoying that there isn't some kind of standard for adjusting HDR in games. Having one slider and some random image doesn't help much in any way. Need for Speed Heat didn't even come with any sliders. Don't know about you and your set but I usually leave dynamic contrast off, with some games I'll turn it on though. Either they don't have good options or it's not great implementation. It doesn't look perfect but I kind of ended up preferring turning it on for those certain games rather than turning HDR all the way off. It's quicker to adjust with tv remote for each game too.

Gears 5 did a good job of it, especially letting you toggle to a view of live gameplay while adjusting the settings.

Comments like that a huge turn off in the gm for me..becoming a borefest, repetitious?

No, I wouldn’t go that far. But....it is what it is. A sort of AAA medley of gaming tropes. I’ve also lowered the difficulty because I can’t be arsed with the combat anymore as I don’t actually think it’s that good.

Depends how much you like Star Wars.

7/10.

I will luv this then 😍

Star Wars for me is: Peanut butter & Jelly with milk 🤜🤛

In AAA title combat needs to be on point, more than good 😕

I'm about 6-7 hours in, and it had picked up a bit for me, but kind of fell off again. I'm just not having much fun with the combat. I can't quite put my finger on it, but enemy attacks just feel kind of cheap. They'll start in one direction, and I'll dodge or roll out of the way, and they'll kind of slide mid-animation and still connect. The timing of it all just seems awkward. I may just drop it to Story difficulty, as I'm here more for the Star Wars story, sights and sounds, and don't really care to fiddle with the fighting system much longer. I also don't care to have my foibles in combat result in sending me back to a save point that I might have found 10 minutes ago. That's just not for me, nor is retracing my steps back to the ship with respawned enemies after I've completed an objective (though shortcuts help with this).

I'm also seeing spots where the graphics are downright ugly, plus I'm getting frame drops out of nowhere for some reason. Also, I'm getting kind of tired of Greev complaining about his life being in danger on these planets while he and Cere sit comfortably in the safety of the Mantis the entire time, lol .

Don't get me wrong, it's really not a bad game at all, I'm just finding my annoyances with it might be too much to overcome.

Yep, the combat isn’t great. Started on Jedi Master and dropped to Knight, I intensely dislike the stormtroopers that simply interrupt with blaster fire. Parrying them is simply annoying. Melee opponents are ok, but the lightsaber just lacks weight. Everything is cramped and the targeting is poor.

quick question: should i get it on a launch ps4 or launch xbox one.. how does it run on either console?

If those are your only choices, you'll get the better experience on the base PS4. The game runs awful on Xbox One/One S. Resolution drops down to 540p at times and can't maintain a stable framerate to save its life. Any degree of skill is wiped away with the frame drops ruining timing. Facing an enemy 1v1 it's generally OK. 1v2, you start to see some chop. 1v3 or more, it turns into a slog, at best, or a slideshow, at worst, depending on enemy type and area (worse in outdoor environs with higher draw distance, nominally better in indoor enclosed areas).

Edit: As an example, there's an area on Zeffo where you run into a group of 5 Stormtroopers who all engage you at once. It's an outdoor area and the game was a slideshow. I'd be surprised if I averaged 20fps the entire fight. Conversely, also on Zeffo, there's an area that's similar to the interior textures of the Death Star and Star Destroyers. Immediately upon walking in, there were 4 Stormtroopers who all engaged. The game slowed down but it wasn't the same slide show as the outdoor encounter. However, both instances ruined any feeling of combat flow or ability timing.

The PS4 has issues as well but not as many as the Xbox One/One S.

so basically both are bad, but xbox is worse
