Klee and Osiris have stated both are >10TFs. Some other journalist said PS5 devkit was 13TF.

Klee and Osiris have also stated both are very close in power, but Osiris said PS5 > XSX while Klee said XSX > PS5.
Thanks Metal (I captured your correction post).

If anyone else has claims they remember (and from who), please share. Anyone know who said the +/- 10% claim?

Guy who leaked Oberon specs (from around spring 2019) = 9.2TF

Klee: More than 10TF, PS5 > XSX by 5% (none over 11TF). Lockhart model cancelled
Osiris: More than 10TF. PS5 > XSX
Un-named journalist: 13TF devkit

Kleegamefan just confirmed on the other site that oberon specs don’t match the specs he has for PS5.

in the past he said PS5 is slightly more powerful than Series X, and in december he said Series X is 12 TF RDNA.
So, if he isn’t just another fake insider, PS5 should be over 12 teraflops.

Yeah basically nothing has changed since E3. PS5 > XSX 😴

Console main specs are always locked in way ahead of launch. Only very minor clock tweaks have been possible up to this point and into Nov.

Really? I could swear I saw him saying XSX was stronger by a small margin?

So I got it wrong, both saying PS5 > XSX?
Yep. But we have a good poster here that guesses (educated, I assume) it’s probably xsx>ps5.

Regardless, I think it won’t matter who has the crown. Game pass is intriguing- I can probably play MS games on my PC.
I’ll buy a ps5 for first party stuff from them

Wanna play devil's advocate for a second...

When the journalists and insiders were saying PS5 > XSX in TFs, were they basing that on GCN? They started throwing the numbers around well before the TGA's and even when MS revealed XSX many were still saying they based the statements on RDNA efficiency improvements, not raw numbers.

There's some still thinking that right now which is understandable but the APU pictures and analysis from others pretty much are backing up the 12TF RDNA (with RDNA2 features...that's my own opinion on that one), but I'm just curious if those earlier PS5/XSX comparisons and 13/12 TF numbers were them going off GCN equivalents and not RDNA.

thicc_girls_are_teh_best thicc_girls_are_teh_best I'm well aware of all of that. I’ll still keep being interested in the moneyhats. Any of them for that matter if it makes you feel better.

It’s speculation in a thread that is literally nothing but.

No need to worry about my feelings, I've got no dog in this race over two pieces of plastic ;). Just wanted to offer my own perspective on the nature of moneyhats is all.

If power matters then why didn't it matter to you and played it down with the Xbox One and PS4 you dick? If hypocrisy had a name, it's TimDog.

Timdog is a flip flopper. Just ignore him.

It was Matt the one who said that if he had to make an educated guess, he would guess XSX would come out on top. To me it sounds like they all have the same specs, PS5 is slightly more powerful and Matt expects MS to adjust clocks to surpass PS5 in teraflops.

I think Klee's a good guy (p.s, big GameFan fan ;), but it's always possible that his source could be wrong. If we can entertain the idea the Github leak could be wrong, we should also be able to entertain that some of the insiders could ultimately be wrong too, on both sides.

Wouldn't mean they weren't legit, but you also can't control the legitimacy of your sources. It's like 4D level chess.

To me all these insider information reaffirms one thing. Both MS and Sony have been tweaking these consoles to squeeze out the last bit of performance with both having the same raw power baseline.
It would be really pointless to compare them if both are within %5 of each other. Though that won't stop the fanboys from console warring over that 5% difference.
I wonder what would be the next battleground in Digital Foundry videos. Texture's on blades of grass? lol

I think all the insiders are working off the same info, which was "disseminated" at the time of E3. Basically it was a spec sheet. Maybe the same one handed off to devs. The same list Pachter mentions. Anwyays there hasn't really been split camps of differing leaks, starting from Reiner.

I'll go for some mental gymnastics here, bare with me. Like I said before, Osiris gave us two numbers: 11.6 and 12.4. Since both he and Klee said PS5>XSX, let's say it's PS5 12.4 and XSX 11.6.

Trying to find a match:

PS5 at 12.4TF = 44CUs@2.2Ghz or 48CUs@2.02Ghz or 52CUs@1.86Ghz. 36CUs won't make it unless you go over 2.5Ghz which makes no sense.
XSX at 11.6TF = 52CUs@1.74Ghz or 56CUs@1.62Ghz.

If the RT rumor is to be believed, Sony might have gotten closer to 44 or 48CUs to save space for RT cores while MS went for a larger die with more CUs to brute force RT using those extra CUs.

Edit: I also believe the CPU will be based on the 4800U/H with 30-45W TDP.

Fanboys who expect next gen to be another 1080p vs 900p/720p or GTAV GrassGate scenario are delusional. It's all going to come down to how developers decide to use the power.

SuBae interview

Dean Takahashi, VentureBeat: Is real time ray-tracing in graphics going to be as big as NVIDIA says it is?

LS: I’ve said in the past that ray tracing is important, and I still believe that, but if you look at where we are today it is still very early. We are investing heavily in ray tracing and investing heavily in the ecosystem around it – both of our console partners have also said that they are using ray tracing. You should expect that our discrete graphics as we go through 2020 will also have ray tracing. I do believe though it is still very early, and the ecosystem needs to develop. We need more games and more software and more applications to take advantage of it. At AMD, we feel very good about our position on ray tracing.

AnandTech: The rearchitect of Vega for 7nm has been given a +56% performance increase. Does this mean that there was a lot left on the table with the design for 14/12nm? I’m trying to understand how you were able to pull so much extra performance from a simple process node change.

LS: When we put Vega into a mobile form factor with Ryzen 4000, we learned a lot about power optimization. 7nm was a part of it sure, but it was also a very power optimized design of that architecture. The really good thing about that is that what we learned is all applicable to Navi as well. David’s team put a huge focus on performance per watt, and that really comes out of the mobile form factor, and so I’m pleased with what they are doing. You will see a lot of that technology will also impact when you see Navi in a mobile form factor as well.

Lots more
It is pretty clear how much room they have to improve performance per watt when nVidia in a old node is over 30% more efficient.

AMD still have a lot of work to do to improve that performance per watt.

I have no doubt Ampere is going to drop an 8800 level domination as soon as the new consoles are out.

But it's a console, APU was probably a requirement, so we get what we get and devs optimize for it.

Guess with Series X only having one HDMI port they really don't have any hard future proof plans for external VR/AR devices. I would hope that the PS5 includes two so one could be used directly for PSVR without a relay box.

Can't you pass the signal through USBc? (Which is presumably on the front of the box?)

Klee was firm on Lockhart being cancelled? I'll add to my tracker.
No. When people reported it was back on the plate, he said he was certain it was cancelled but if reports say otherwise, he'll take the L and eat crow.

You can see his replies in the threadmarks on reee "klee info v4"

how about 2X36 CU @ 1.66?

Interesting post.

... so what if xbox starts overclocking?
