I started Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Moon-led Journey Across Another World) and am caught up.

2Y92TJl.jpg

This is one of the more enjoyable Isekai I've read. I was initially putting it off because the scans still available for early chapters look really bad, but it was worth getting through them.

It's about a guy, Makoto, that finds out his parents were from another world. His parents were allowed by the goddess of their world to live on Earth in peace in exchange for one of their children later being called back to that world as a hero. The Earth goddess that talks with him first to send him off gives their blessing to him and let's him know that the goddess of the other world is a little hard to deal with. Makoto meets this fantasy world goddess, an incredibly petty entity whose world is filled with beautiful fantasy races. The goddess calls Makoto ugly, tells him she won't give him her blessing (power for the hero), informs him that she summoned two other Earthlings as heroes so she doesn't need him, only gives him a blessing that allows him to talk to demi-humans and monsters, and then flings him to the outer rim wasteland of this fantasy world telling him to never interact with her beloved humans lest he taint them with his ugliness. That's where my boy Makoto's adventure starts out.

It always sucks to get read a manga and get caught up. Especially with light novel based manga that release only once a month and you hope get translated.

Tsuki ga Michibiku does star an overpowered MC (which the manga explains why at the beginning), but it does enough things differently to make it interesting. Makoto is considered so ugly in that world that he has to wear a mask when interacting with humans, and because he can't communicate with humans because of that goddess, he has to use magic to write words in the air because when he talks it sounds like a monster trying to imitate human speech.

The second hero summoned is a deconstruction of the Isekai self insert character. He's a weeb that asked to be made more handsome, given white hair, heterochromia eyes (he specifically acts for this), is given an eye that makes women fall in love with him that he realizes is a bad thing, and is being controlled by the princess of a country performing very inhuman experiments on live subjects, are feeding his party steroids that shorten their life span. His party that are having their life span shorten are made up of a women that his eye rape ability has already affected. The princess is trying to use the hero to usurp the throne of her kingdom and turn the summoned hero into a monster. The second summoned hero is too dumb to realize this is happening.

Makes the parents kind of assholes if you think about it.

Parents: So we can live a peaceful life?
Goddess: Yes, but in exchange I can take one of your kids when they're older and they must become a hero, meaning their life will be in danger and they have no say in wanting a different path in life. All so YOUR life can be easier.
Parents: To quote Dr. Bruce Banner, 'I see this as an absolute win'.

But seriously, that actually sounds somewhat interesting. As someone who finds it really different to enjoy isekai due to it being shoved in our faces every season (so really have only greatly enjoyed Re:Zero, No Game No Life, and Konosuba. Cautious Hero is decent) that might be up my alley. Just hope the MC has a reasonable starting skill set instead of being OP right off the bat or being OP later in the story.

I do have to disappoint you a little, the MC is overpowered. He Liu Kang kicks through a double headed demon dog at the beginning. His overpowered nature is somewhat explained.

Have you checked out Realist Hero?

It's about a guy getting isekai'd that improves a country through political and social reforms.

Weird, I just re-read Useless Ponko and that still works from chapter 1.

I just went back to the start of the first issue and the first ten or so pages work then I get that message again. They must be adding stuff back gradually or something. Or maybe something is ballsed up in my browser/phone. I'll give it some time and try again.

I recommended to you guys like 5 times before. FINALLY SOMEBODY LISTENED!
It's very very very good! Thank you for the recommendation!

I read 16 chapters the other night. At least 8 of those chapters were me on the edge of my seat and my heart clenched. I caught up once I was able to get the rest of the chapters.

Saihate is definitely good stuff. I'm iffy on it being isekai but i just ended up treating it as a fantasy instead and it's great in that lane.

It being Isekai is definitely an aftethought in many ways. At most it is used to show the main character's turmoil and regrets in an understandable way. It's a very grounded D&D like world.

The light novel covers are works of art.

For one and a half years I have been reading Villainess Noble Girl Isekai /Otome Isekai stories. Although I am now losing interest in the genre, here is a pastebin I made to keep track of them, comprising of 181 titles from this genres(including derivatives)

Thanks for the suggestion and done. I only use mangaupdates link for manga, the exception being Protagonist x Rival, since it didnt have a mangaupdates page back then(now that is also mangaupdates). Also added "I Don’t Want to Be Loved ", so its total 183 titles now.
