You're comparing apples to oranges. To show you what I mean:
You can't compare a specific search string such as "ps5 logo" with a broader string like "Xbox series X". The graph above shows the apples to apples comparison of "Xbox series X" against "ps5" with "ps5 logo" left in as a reference point. It's also worth noting when "ps5" gets a sudden uptick in interest, it's not a coincidence.
For what it's worth this would be the apples to apples comparison as far as Google trends goes:

If nobody cares about E3 then who gives a shit about "100 of local events" that are supposedly attending instead? It's like saying nobody cares about the World Cup but what's important is showing up at the 2nd division finals in Kazakhstan, Albania and Sri Lanka.

We are talking Sony not others attending. E3 is not as popular or important as it was back in the day, you make it sound like E3 is mandatory for success, it’s not.

Basically it doesn't really matter that much. The playstation brand is much stronger than the xbox brand, hence their sales... Knowing the uphill battle Microsoft has since the Xbox One reveal I'm surprised they didn't went digital only. They have been doing better the past few years, very consumer friendly features and services, but they are definitely not at Playstation level of appreciation, and it's going to take a while to get there. If Sony just keeps building great games and great systems, then they just have to follow on features and services to stay ahead.

This crossed my mind today:
1 - Haven't revealed anything at all.
2 - Haven't even announced a date for their own event
3 - Not showing up to E3... Do they have nothing to show ? Consensus last year was they had nothing to show for 2019 and a disastrous E3 2018.
4 - First announced title is Godfall, an average looking third party looter shooter ...
It's like they have nothing to show for the moment, I stress "for the moment".
What they have shown so far (an obvious logo design and a 3rd party game) feels a bit "weak"

I really shouldn't care, but I personally just hate it when logic is thrown out the window, even for trivial things.
it could also be that the person who made the thread, was too young to remember the year PS4 launched? i am not going to assume anything. They could really not know what it was like back then.

That reminded me of what happened when i did some research on what the word "Heresy", really meant.
"Heresy", is something that is proven 100% true, but if you think about it too much then you would lead to conclusions that harms one's existing beliefs. Heresy is something that a believer should avoid at all costs, and also try not to think about them when ever possible.

its not a good look. they feel asleep at the wheel. they have allowed a lot of bad rumors to fester for months. github leaks shouldve been countered if they were incorrect. took 6 months to clear up the hardware rt confusions. ms's vga reveal shouldve been countered. ces logo reveal was a joke. e3 cancellation announcement came with zero other announcements.This crossed my mind today:

Totally true. PS4 is still selling like hotcakes and would continue to sell if it weren't for the next generation. If Sony didn't have competition releasing a new console, they really would have no reason to release a new one for another 2 or so years.
