Cyberpunk 2077 delay to September 17

Didn’t Watchdog Legion also get Delayed out of March? Almost as if they thought they were too close to Cyberpunk’s release date, Wonder where that gets released now since ce it never got a new date. I’m also looking forward to WDL

Had nothing to do with that btw.

It was delayed to be a cross gen game with next gen.

Sucks ,but if they need more than they need more time. Take all the time you need. Hope the delay wasn't caused by multiplayer.

God I hope not. I'm worried about them removing the whole buying apartment thing and could care less about MP, but if its really being delayed for that, I'm going to be really mad lol

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Honestly, I'm more than okay with it, because we'll be getting new video cards before the game launches and I won't feel tempted to trudge through it with my nearly 4-year-old 1080.

Not going to buy games for old machines so close to ngen launch and their own ngen titles. FF7, Y7, GOT, TLOU2 ... enough alternatives to be had. From eager to play, to can wait til 2021.

I'm sure it needs polish. Witcher needed 6 months of polish after it released.

This. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is my favorite game of all times, so I was really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077. It's a shame that it's been delayed for another 6 months, but if that is what it will take to bring a quality game, polished and bug-free, it will be worth the wait.

only problem is that september is close to october which is the rumored launch date for PS5... and honestly cyberpunk does look like a really cool game but it honestly sort of pales in comparison to next generation consoles launching... it's just unfortunate timing is all. better get this game out ASAP because tick tock tick tock time passing and a new console generation coming is a pretty uncommon event :(

come to think of it this game will potentially be one of the greatest of the entire generation

Captain Hero

The Spoiler Soldier
yeah I knew it .. well prepare your self for another statement that involves ( PS5 enhanced )

sorry but Fuck

That sucks i hate when i need to wait more for new game.its like nothing else there to play, what a times we living, noo e making nothing new so few companies left . Why we cant have new story games like every 2 month?
And it will hurt game i think if they wait for next gen games to appear suddenly their masterpeace can become outdated

GTA 5 came out in mid September, a month and a half before the PS4 was launched. Biggest GTA sales ever. Then they did it again a year later. I see no reason why anything would slow down the sales of Cyberpunk especially so close to the new console release. Install base is about 100 mil on PS4, lots of people wont jump ship right away so thats no issue either. I will be buying PS5 day one but I doubt there will be a PS5 version of the game, only BC enhanced hopefully. So even if that enhancement helps a bit, people will still buy their game and at worst wait 45 days to buy or play it on a newer system. PS5 remaster will prb be a year away and I doubt many people want to wait that long.

Few things...

1. This is going to hurt sales because some people will now hold out to play on next gen console.. For me this would be a first to do this but it's 2 months or less from release of the next console.
2. People are now going to be more critical of the game because of such a large delay. If you delay so long to perfect the game, it be better nothing short of fucking stellar.
3. This is poor management, I'm not even sure it's because of Polish, it could be a bad release window and they aren't going to admit that. Who knows, it could all be psychological marketing bullshit!

But that's because it's GTA!

Let me put it into context so you get my point.. It's GTA !!!!! A whole other level of success.

Plus there will be no such thing as a PS5 version of the game. It will already come enhanced for PS5 because there is no big architecture difference like it was in previous generation consoles. Just like PS4 to PS4 Pro it will just run better at a higher resolution and possibly higher framerate.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Please delay RE3 or Disaster Report 4 next.

yeah I know, people are stupid sometimes.

It's painful to buy RE3, FFVII, Disaster Report 4, and P5R in a span of 2 weeks.

This game was announced in May 2012. Imagine being a freshman in high school hearing about the game and not being able to play it until after you finish college.

Slow as hell dev cycles have sadly become the new norm. Companies like Ubisoft employ multiple dev teams working simultaneously on different projects, but they're massive so they can afford to. The rest is just "slow". It's been 5 years since Witcher 3, i.e. in that timespan last gen we had Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 (for example) between 2007 & 2012. At this rate we won't see CD Projekt Red's next post-Cyberpunk game until... 2025/26, i.e. towards the latter years of the ps5 generation. Whoop-de-doo.

yes this all makes sense to me now. I allowed myself to become entranced by the shiny new thing without taking into account the existing installed base of current gen systems. which is very large and definitely a force to be reckoned with :messenger_face_screaming: :messenger_hushed::messenger_dizzy:

still looking forward to new systems coming out but they definitely have a long battle to sell >100 million units (which I think they will... but that will take time) :messenger_crystal_ball:

Let’s all be serious for a moment, this delay is going to make them a huge fortune by being a launch title for PS5 & Series X.

You all know how thirsty gamers are for anything at launch.
well considering they are right now the only studio who are willing to invest such big budgets into titles besides rockstar (and stil not even get close though..) I really dont mind if they earn as much money as possible with cyberpunk

Actually happy about this coz new graphics cards will be out by then. Also more breathing room for FF7 remake.

Looks like RE3 is the only big upcoming game that wasn't delayed yet, hope it stays that way. I don't mind Cyberpunk's delay, but I wonder how many people will wait about 3 months to play the game on next-gens. CDPR of course made a bullshit statement about having no PS5/XSEX plans, but we all know that's because they desperately want to sell many PS4/XONE copies.

they made witcher 3 one of the greatest games of all time. their dlcs have been fantastic and as a company i dont know what else they can do to earn the benefit of the doubt. they have backed up their words with actions unlike most other game companies

Nvidia will be fuming.

I bet they were hoping for a huge sales uptick as people upgraded to play at high/ultra settings. There will be lots of 2080Ti's on the shelves that would have otherwise found homes and would have been a good way of clearing out stock in time for Ampere's launch.

Damn, That's a big delay.

I wonder if their going to try and go the gta route with MP? Do we have any info? I haven't paid a lot of attention to that part.

I don't get the whining. As a dev myself, I am glad they delay it if they need more time instead of pushing it out unfinished as soo many developers do these days!

It's the people who pre-ordered, who are most pissed. They took the launch date as set in stone and handed over their money.

Not me, I put the chances of a further delay at 50/50, so this has come as no surprise whatsoever, It's why i never pre-order anything, all you are doing is providing a free banking service. The Interest alone earned on the tens (hundreds) of millions of dollars that CD Project have had in the bank for the past (near) year must amount to a pretty tidy sum.

no idea why people preorder these days, sure in the past there was a chance games would run out of stock especially for niche titles but not for huge blockbuster titles. if u must preorder wait like a month before it releases when the date is locked in not six months in advance
