Boy does this thread go over the same things every day multiple times a day. Makes my brain want to implode. Sony just announce something so we dont have to deal with this constant circle of the same shit every day.

Oh, don’t worry #Soon we will have some similar variation on other conversations we have every console launch over and over until more news is issued.
I would like some new topic to discuss repeatedly as well.

Need to take a break, I will be back after we get some official info.

Actually I will answer that as honestly as I can.

Back a couple of weeks ago not sure on the timing without looking at my texts my buddy at SIE sent me a text saying he was hearing no Feb big reveal look for a State of Play that shows the box maybe a couple of game demos.

He also said we wont hear about TFs anytime soon as neither company wants to talk TFs because as he said one was 9.5 ish and the other 10.

I even brought it up here several days ago (again do not know exact date without looking at posts) about a State of Play instead of a full reveal how people would feel after I heard that from my buddy.

I had also posted the impact tremor gif a day or two before the official Sony skipping E3 as he told me that day I made that post we would be getting that very info.

So to answer your question a few weeks ago I was firmly in the 12 tf camp but the longer it goes we do not hear about a full reveal the more I am putting faith into my crazy little birdie friend as being right.

Are we talking dev kit or target specs. That's a big difference. Dev kit specs are irrelevant and will change over time. Target specs are fixed and should have been known for a long time.

If you're talking about target specs, then you should really question of your sources because all devs get the same spec sheet.

Yeah so if these are closer to 10TF what would that make them relative to in Desktop GPUs?
More powerful than RX 5700XT and less powerful than RTX 2080.

In my thoughts, I think it will be more powerful than RTX 2080 Super and a bit less powerful than RTX 2080ti

I wouldnt get so caught up on comparing to gpus. I mean the ps4 was the equivalent of a hd8770 which was a end of life refresh and look how good it still runs games. It would be like if the xbox SX and Ps5 was based on the rx 590 instead of the flagship cards.

10TF doesn’t make sense for Xbox as we have seen the size of the chip, and the box it’s going in. It will be clocked around the sweet spot which points to around 12TF.

PS5 could be anything right now from 8.5TF to something similar to the Xbox.
Yeah, there's no point in a 56 CU APU clocked that low and then coupled with a radical console design built for maximum cooling. XSX is a guaranteed 12+ TF console. For 10 TF there are cheaper ways to get there.

As in tomorrow? Or next month?

They are referring to a rumor posted about Feb. 29th. The hall is unavailable and set for something at 7:30 PM Eastern (-500 time zone). This is around the same time of day the last PlayStation Meeting was held. It’s also within the same month. It’s all speculation.

He's just making things up. Sony hasn't reserved anything. Unless you think that all private events are Sony events, LOL. So they will do a couple of PS5 reveals in April as well. A private event is exactly that, a private event. If Sony had an upcoming event they would just not show up at all in the public schedule. And there is no way that a reveal would take place on a Saturday. You want to be in the news. Friday and Saturday are the worst news days of the week. That's why bad news are released on those days.

Hmm well if invites didn't go out to the press what could it be?

I wonder if they're going to film a reveal in the event hall with fake yells and clap and then release it as a State of Play later?

"Trademark applications need to have a publicly marketed product tied to them within 4 weeks of filing, otherwise the trademark expires and has to be re-applied for (second application for the same product costs a fee, so companies try to avoid that) "

Is it true? Can't seem to verify that

Where have you heard this? Absolutely bullshit!

On a Saturday? Have they ever used that day for presentations?

It could be anything really. Other corporations and events can rent the place for just about anything really.

It's a small room, the reveal won't be there.

The Sony Hall is different than where they have the Sony Experience.

Edit: Sony Square NYC is the place where the booths are thats very small. That's the place I was at and shared the photo.

Sony Hall is the venue in NYC, that now has a private event on Monday the 24th.

I stand corrected then, hopefully there's something to it!

I was referring to the Twitter post that showed how small it is, didn't know that was you.

Why is he right if Sony does not give data? MS didn't,they didn't said "Series X is 12TF RDNA",they where vague as could have been.

Dude, they are literally saying they will have the best next gen console. And have been doing so since E3 2019.

Project Scarlett: Introducing Xbox Series X
Project Scarlett will set a new bar for console power, speed and performance, arriving Holiday 2020 alongside Halo Infinite. With a custom-designed AMD processor, high bandwidth GDDR6 memory, and a next generation solid state drive (SSD), Project Scarlett will give developers the power they need to bring their creative visions to life. Thousands of games across four console generations will look and play best on Project Scarlett.

According to Jason, both consoles will be more powerful than RTX 2080

According with TechPowerUp:
If RTX 2070 Super is 100% the RX 5700xt is 93%
So the RTX is 7% more powerful

The RX 5700xt have 9.75Tflops and RTX 2070 Super have 9.062Tflops.

9.75 + 7% = 10.4325 RDNA's Tflops = 9.062 Turing's Tflops

Doing the proportion:

9.062 -------- 10.4325
10.07 --------- x

X = 11.595 TFlops

So we need both consoles with / over 12TF to surpass the RTX 2080

(But I'm analising the RDNA 1.0 and not the RDNA 2.0)

But that's the thing Heisenberg. TF numbers should not be any way to measure these next gen consoles. If the games creatively blow up my skirt or drop the proverbial panties then the TF numbers shouldn't matter.

I feel MS and Sony would be right to not focus on the numbers but rather what experiences these machines can craft for gamers. Give me something that blows the eyeballs into the back of my skull and i won't give a rats ass about the SSD speed or the TF numbers.

The RTX 2080 can easily work at 2GHz clocks (mine is always at ~2,05GHz), so it does 11 TFlops easily.
I didn't consider the overclock, but if we consider...

Turing's flops It's about 1.15x the RDNA's flops.
So to a 11TF Turing GPU we need a 12.65TF console (considering the RDNA 1.0 not the RDNA 2.0)

The reveal will be on the 29th I'm assuming. Sony has already blocked the hall out and has an event sent for 7pm
Unfortunately, Sony Hall always has a series of private events scheduled at various times. We'll just have to wait for someone to leak invite info or an announcement from Sony themselves.
