im stealing this gif lmao. its so perfect for this thread.

Lol I see you haven't given up 14 tf hope 👀🤣. I feel 13 tf is absolute max and that's not happening imo. 12.4 is my bet
ive always maintained its highly unlikely too. i think they will settle for 12 tflops, but if there is a megaton or a mic drop moment, i think its 13-14 tflops. i think they targeted 14 and settled for 13.

i also think 9.2 tflops at $399 is a realistic possibility but lets not talk about that lol

Even though Sony were plonkers and said BC isn't needed ages ago, they have changed their tune in recent times. It’s absolutely a possibility they would work on this for all of the consoles.

But with enhancements too? I doubt it very much. That’s a LOT of work to make sure some games work *at all*. You may be able to do thar on pc, but that’s never a 100% compatible fault free experience.

I would really, really love to see them Male all the consoles a possibility, and if they did, thag would be a mic drop moment. But only expect enhancements for PS4 games, imo. And knot expect games already on the store to be available, otherwise games will slowly trickle in.

IMO.

I'd be happy with a sort of boost mode style option where using it has a disclaimer about using it at your own risk and could result in unexpected behaviour etc.

Take PS4 Code Veronica for instance isnt that just the PS2 Iso in a emulator? That's run at a higher resolution than it natively came out on and it looks so much better (not sure if its 4k or 1080p).

Obviously if every game needs code written specifically for it then it would be a no go. I really want disc based emulation so we can play all the licenced games of the past again that have no chance having their rights renegotiated for PSN rerelease.

Hi there!

I've been lurking these forums for quite some time, and I finally decided to be a good lad, create an account and say hello.

Also, I would like to say, regarding the latest PS news, that I personally don't see any drama on Horizon coming to PC. I played the game many times these last three years, and I think it's a good taste of what PC players can expect from Sony exclusives, and putting it into their platform is a good way to lure them in, if they're eager to play the sequel whenever it comes out. I don't see Sony, as of now, doing day & date releases on PC of their exclusives. But we'll see, I guess.
Yeah it's not a big deal, can only really benefit the devs and the games reach, according to hulst there are no plans for day and date releases, I think they will use the older games, like you said, to lure more gamers in with the sequels.

Seen that, but from people I know one guy got bad burn-ins withing 3 months, a shop is avoiding LG OLED's and said Sony's are still better "funny that all OLED's are sold by LG Panel branch". I have ZERO trust in OLED's, and 100000% will get burn-ins withing few months. That test can be thrown in the nearest trash with all due respect.

bullcrap. i have an lg oled, best mate have an lg oled, 3 colleagues have lg oleds. no issues at all.

Am I the only one sane enough to not read too much into their HZD PC port and also actually read the goddamn blog post that revealed the damn thing? Did they announce that Sony is withdrawing from console business, PS5 is scrapped and now they are just game developer owners or something?

No need to be concerned about next gen or their plethora of exclusives. Console hardware is here to stay and exclusives will still be the bread and butter of the gaming industry. MS may have an ecosystem strategy but Sony isn't subscribed to that prescription and actually have their own unique strategy. Leading this gen wasn't just luck or some mic dropping E3 moments spontaneously happening in the moment, they were well though of plans and most likely among many (and mind you some of which probably never seen the light of day).

Same..
77c9 here no burn in, colleagues that have LG oleds say no burn in on theirs c7->c9.
But maybe OLED talk should stay in the OLED thread.

Just FYI, the Ps5 dev timeline is hazy, and we will never really know the full ins and outs (at least not for a good while), but the PS5 that will release this year is NOT the first PS5. That was scrapped a while back, and that itself went through several revisions. The new units have had several different stages of development, you never go from 0-60 in one go.

There is no 14tf. This is loony bin talk and will only get you more upset in the long run. Think about that figure logically for a second. Whoever at Ubi said that? Well, that’s nuts.

Memory isn’t something you just slap into a build like a pc, it takes time to balance the system out. HBM only serves to exacerbate that process.

The memory at the speed it’s at (from a first party source, I may add, in a final kit) is more than enough for the other improvements that COME with it based on the system build as a whole. You’re thinking of shit in a custom PC build. This is not a PC.

I’m not going into lockhart discussion again, that’s been talked about. You either believe the BS that’s been said (and some of you don’t even know what you’re posting when quoting other sources) or you understand it’s not an issue. Do not confuse the worry between first party Xbox games having to work on Xbox one. Also, I’m not speaking of my studio. The actual knowledge I have is a Combination of third party, first party and common sense with a lot of experience. Also I would like to add Jason said devs think it’s the same level as a PS4 pro. That’s enough to instantly tell me something is fishy with that. The theoretical specs revealed for lockhart are nowhere near a PS4 pro level, and it would wipe the floor with pro performance. And the pro has to run at fake 4k, the lockhart doesn’t. Think about that.

And @Aceofspades is pissed at me because he got slapped down earlier and is in a grump.

Edit: I’m not here to make anybody believe anything, you’re free to make your own minds up. The hard details from the horses mouth will be here soon enough. But man, some of you people want the impossible, things not even feasible, without a bit of common sense. It’s nuts. I’m here to post what I know AND what I think, to share my experience with you all and chat. But you make people not want to even bother. The really strange thing is, it’s always this time of the day it happens as well... that’s very weird.
Hey, man, appreciate your comments.
Do you happen to know anything about the next generation of PSVR?

Well , well, well, let me see... if you are all betting how many TF will have PS5, the one who matches the number will be remembered as the wtf user of the thread. I say it's 13.3

I am not freaking out about HZD being on PC. i just think its a clueless business decision for a console maker.

if anything getting PS5 exclusives is great for me because then i no longer have to pay sony $60 to play online games, and $400-500 mid gen to upgrade and still play games at 30 fps. i will probably just buy a PC on day 1 with a 25 tflops nvidia gpu and a 16 core 32 thread AMD GPU that will run everything on the PS5 with ease at 60 fps from day one.

the only problem with that is that sony lost my money from PS+ subs, royalties from every third party game i wouldve bought, $500 from the midgen upgrade i wouldnt buy and 30% of sales from any digital purchase on PSN. if i was a sony stockholder, i would question if all of that lost revenue is worth it for a couple of million sales on PC at $5 a pop which is the price PC gamers usually buy games for.

i personally couldnt care less. i just think its a boneheaded decision for a console manufacturer company.

lol This entire paragraph is hilarious. So you would still pay $499 to buy a PS5 for exclusives, but you are still buying their games (which won’t be for $5 and won’t have any games from PS5 unless specifically states and more than likely third party titles). You didn’t find some hidden loophole. Sony is getting your money regardless of where you get it from and that’s the bottom line. The difference between them and MS is that Sony knows they can tap into both the digital audience and the traditional audience and make money from both. MS has to go in the direction they are because they have no choice. Kind of odd to say you couldn’t care less, yet you just spent an entire post detailing why you DO care. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

Like we have nothing like usual let's back to some info found in B3D.

Globalisateur said:
This is most probably the 3d audio hardware of PS5 :
13ea Ariel HD Audio Controller
13eb Ariel HD Audio Coprocessor
For reference Arden has no audio coprocessor, they are maybe using some kind of AMD True Audio integrated in the GPU:
1637 Renoir HD Audio Controller
It was under our nose since the beginning :
https://pci-ids.ucw.cz/read/PC/1022

But remember MS devs said they have a dedicated audio processor... maybe the coprocessor?
While Carmark said it really a dumb ideia if that is the case.

The two audio solution are indeed different in an name with MS using the name from the actual AMD's APU.

Yea. I think a number are theory crafting and ignoring what the horse saying directly and intentions behind the idea. I'm curious if the plan will work. Time Will tell.

Side note: A lot of PlayStation related news has surfaced this week. I wonder if Ps5 reveal is very soon.

i think that this is spot on, MS strategy is completely different, they create an ecosystem that includes multiple devices (windows, Xbox, xcloud) that’s why ms sees amazon and google as competitors in this multi device space. Sony on the other hand focuses on single line of dedicated devices. Both strategies have their pros and cons and we will see which one will be more successful.

Sony is partnering up with Pornhub to bring the next generation of fleshlights (heated) to PSVR. That's why MS has been revealing so much more about its consoles. MS knows that once Sony confirms fleshlights will bring VR porn to the console masses, the Series X is in big trouble.

This news might be premature, or complete bunk. Use your own judgment when evaluating

Perhaps they can bring back those boob controllers while they are at it:

In case of doubt, the whole "insiders" can always blame COVID-19. PS5 12TF instead of 9TF? COVID-19 is to blame!

To be fair, dev kits out for months and months and knowing a devloper is one thing

Picking a day for some PR announcement which can happen any day of any week and is open to Sony or mS HQ whim requires totally different contacts and is much more unlikely and completely different.

I haven’t had any experience with Colbert? Is he a Twitter guy or something? I’ve spoke with Timdog before, and while yes his passion can get in the way a bit at times, he’s a decent bloke.

I’m in the business of facts, i don’t deal in fan wars. I like both.

TiHwQJz.gif

Colbert used to be on here, now on era, spends 24 hours a day trying to be technically neutral but always pushing github, die saizes and bandidth to support why Sony will fail..../,,,,,Xbox agenda and making poems . He should be paid for it being a promoter he tries that hard.

Colbert a bigger warrior than timdog, timdog is just funny and no one takes seriously.

its surprising how managed to completely miss the point of a two line sentence.

Sony will not get my money if i dont sub to their PS+ and play online games on PC.
Sony will not get my money if i dont buy third party games on their console from retail (10% cut) or PSN (30% cut).
Sony will not get my money if i dont buy their midgen upgrade.

You along with a bunch of other people are refusing to see it from a business point of view. this isnt just about HZD. yes, Sony will get my money if i buy it from valve. This is about what this means for their console business. Will people continue to buy PS consoles, invest in PS+ and be part of the PS ecosystem when PCs can offer the same experience only better?

Andrew House said the main reason why he made the Pro was to make sure console gamers didnt upgrade to PC. So he agrees with me that PC is a potential rival platform. Sony agreed with my assessment that its a stupid idea to let people go out of your eco system. i have no idea whats so controversial about this. Exclusives used to be the only thing that kept people in their eco system, and now they no longer have that.

I don’t “get” the whole wanting another side to fail. I’ll again use the old football example but if a football fan wanted every other team to fail... where would the competition, the fun be?

Do you all know why the PS4 is the success it is today? It’s because the 360 was a worthy competitor. If the 360 wasn’t what it was (and yes, to some degree the ps3 wasn’t as shit as it was with its cell) the PS4 wouldn’t be as good as it is.

Competition is what drives the industry, it drives ingenuity and makes people want to improve.

To wish and hope for that to go away? You may as well put a bullet in your “system of choice”.

Hasn't VFX predicted that Horizon will come to PC?
Maybe we'll actually get a PS5 and a PS5 Pro^^
he didnt predict it. he saw the rumor and latched on to it.

and he already backpedaled on the pro within a few hours. he initially said a ps5 pro would launch with the ps5 and then came back and said it wont come until 2022. of course all the youtubers and websites conveniently ignored that part.

Probably because people like to be winners - even if they are not actually participating effectively. You can see that competitions are good from democracy alone. And when it's gone, everyone complains that an Adolf Hitler is in power again.

Where do my Hitler thoughts come from today ?!🤔😂

I hear you. My way of thinking (which could be terribly wrong, LOL) is that if you have a top end PC and have made the investment in that, were the points you made ever really true to begin with. Most console gamers (those that buy multiplats on console and maintain online play memberships) are cheap bastards when it comes to hardware. That won't change even if Sony put all their eggs in the streaming or PC baskets.

I think if you have a killer PC, the most Sony was ever getting from you was the first-party sales, and they'd still get that even if they sold them on PC. I would say that you'd be less likely to maintain PS+ as well, especially since many of the most hyped Sony system sellers don't focus as much on that area.

I didn’t miss anything, you are just being naive. If you think that Sony placing old games on PC is going to stop the hand over fist money they are making digitally right now, then this conversation is over.

Sony just recently had their highest quarter ever built off the back of digital sales and services. How is expanding that by allowing PC players to buy old games and play PS Now on PC affecting that? Your problem is that you think this some black or white, zero sum game where Sony is stacking the deck by not only appealing to the traditional console owners, but also going after the same people MS is courting with GamePass.

Also, not sure if you noticed, but Andrew House no longer works for Sony. His views no longer reflect the views of the current Sony leadership and was a viewpoint rooted back in 2016-2017. Times have changed. Your concern over Sony losing money to subscriptions and console sales are not valid. Sony will be fine.
