It’s the only way I can even make sense of any of this... I’m actually in shock. I was 99% confident in my source, but didn’t expect things to be THIS bad.

Right. Well. Any minute now the spin machine will start up. So I just want to say, thanks for the chats and stuff guys, it’s been fun, some of the time. I enjoyed most of it. Sometimes. But it’s been... emotional 🤣

Damn straight, and I was expecting something around that 11.6 to 12.4 (maybe in the middle) for high-end, too. Again I'm not personally disappointed or anything; TONS of signs were pointing to something like this. But I know a lot of other people are probably upset ATM and need to collect themselves.

Only thing that honestly shocked me is how there isn't full PS4 BC, I'm wondering what's causing the issue there.

Anyway if it's $399 I'm in, still don't know if I'll get it or XSX first tho. Been a blast having you here dude, same for the other devs and insiders. People shouldn't be mad at the messengers, or even Sony imho. MS just turned out to be THAT hungry this time around, that's all. Next gen's gonna be fine.

The presentation could've been an article, as it's essentially the same type of info we were given by Microsoft via articles. However, my curiosity about a LOT of things (RAM, SSD speeds, CPU, GPU, 3D audio) is ultimately satisfied, and that counts for a lot, considering the wait.

Calling it the worst presentation ever is such a smooth-brained kneejerk reaction. At worst, it was just boring because it was all tech talk, which was the entire point.

this tf number was max, variable means that it will lower in most of the games, not all devs will want to max it for long periods of time.
Ofc a game like Dreams on ps5 won't need those clocks. But the way he worded it is that games that need it won't have problems running at those clocks

And given that a large part of the world may be unemployed for a big chunk of the year, that may be to their benefit. I wanted more flops but the price/power dynamic is gonna be interesting to see played out with the economic shit show looming.
If you can afford to spend $400 on a console, you can probably afford that extra $100. Just put it on a credit card like all Americans.

I still can't get over it. How they could think, that this is good enough to be presented. They should delay everything and let me dream. I don't know why I care. I was already set before to /PC > multiplat/ and /PS5 > exclusives/, but still I wanted the PS5 to be competitive. Now I'm not sure, if I even want to buy this trash.

~17% difference in TF isn't a huge deal, hopefully it doesn't drop much from the 10.3. The audio stuff sounds cool but I doubt it's any different to what the Series X does. Price and box reveal in June?

I screen captured one of the most cringey meme'able image from the live stream to share with you guys.

I felt for Cerny...Even though the slideshow is 100% technically correct, but deflecting is not a pleasant but a hard job.

Now that everything revealed..
do not judge any console until you see what it capable of.. yes XSX is more powerful with 12tf but still PS5 is 10 not a huge difference...

And the most thing for me is games only .. and I know both will have that but PS5 will be the one for me and the reason is Exclusives and some other things ..

Yeah, nice, but misleading to use XSeX as base. Normally you do it with the slower/smaller one.

In my books they have made sensible decisions about GPU.
Microsoft went bananas, and I was saying that before Cerny reveal.

Are you serious? The math is the same. V1 being Xbox or V1 being PS5 is the same.

=|10.3−12.1|[(10.3+12.1)2]×100=|10.3−12.1|[(10.3+12.1)2]×100

=|−1.8|[22.42]×100=|−1.8|[22.42]×100

=1.811.2×100=1.811.2×100

=0.160714×100=0.160714×100

=16.0714%difference

PS5 looking amazing, awesome specs, SSD looks phenomenal, GPU 10.3 is super great. Also maybe they can hit that 399? who knows

Also Cerny is promising a not noisy console, that also super great.

The only disappointment is still no ps123 BC, hope they still working on it and will come later on.

Copying my post in the other thread here: and welcome back SonGoku SonGoku You disappearing demon 🤣

It seems Cerny has created a wonderful piece of technology. Lots of SSD, Audio customisations went into PS5.

Let's see how 2.2Ghz ( unimaginably high) at 36CUs (narrow and fast) vs Xbox (wide and slower) can compare.
Lets see how the RT performance can be affected by such high clocks.

Im really happy about PS5 specs, of course I wished of a bigger TF number but after the stream, I think Cerny convinced me that Sacrificing a small TF number for the huge improvements in the SSD and Audio hopefully for a reasonably priced package can be a fantastic deal and totally worth it.

I would like to apologize for the Githubbers especially that twitter dude and @R600

Chaio bitches, and Fuck era 🔥🤣

Quite a few regulars absent from the forum today lol. Also i wonder if Estomahz (sp?) is going to apolagize to Github believers, the ridicule really was ugly and nasty at times.

There are gonna be tons who just don't buy in at all. I'd expect next gen adoption rates to be pretty slow for a year or two frankly.

I think it's clear the PS5 was designed for a 2019 release as speculated. Instead of adding more CUs Sony just clocked the existing chip higher. With the higher frequency I'm guessing 10% disadvantage to Xbox. I don't think it will be noticeable on most games. Both should do 4k 60fps. It will do until the pro is released with 72 Cu.

Both CPU and GPU clocks are variable so it will be around 20-25% difference.

-Didn't show console
-PS4 BC is stated to be almost 100 of the top titles
-3D Audio sounds good, but work-in-progress. We might have you send in pictures of your ear
-36CUs. Clock speeds listed for CPU and GPU are peak boost speeds, not locked clock speeds.

MS has been refreshingly transparent with their approach. I remember that Sony engineer getting all butthurt about MS saying they're transparent. How now, brown cow?

Regardless, PS5 is still a good system from the sounds of it. PS4 BC being under 100 titles and variable GPU clock is a real gut-punch, though.

Man some of you are pathetic and didn’t even pay attention what Cerny said. The PS5 is basically going to be running at 10TF a majority of the time and will only drop if it has to. Somehow you fucks took that to mean, “OMG 9.2 WAS RIGHT!!! GITHUB WAS RIIIIIIIIGHT!” False. GitHub only gave part of the answer. If the PS5’s cooling solution is as robust as we are hearing, it’s not going to be a problem.

For what it is, PS5 is a monster, just not to the degree of XSX, but we are going from 1.84TF to 10.2TF. Do you people not understand how much of a leap that? Stop being fucking idiots and just appreciate this next gen is about to be amazing instead of acting like spoiled ass little children.

So it is safe to say that in all elements, except the ssd xbsex is superior. Games will probably run at higher FPS and better resolutions, with better rt on the ms machine. Phil delivered what he promised on power, now let’s wait for prices to be revealed and some games. I am ready to preorder xsex.

I'll try to expose my (unbiased) opinion.

So far I must applaud Phil Spencer for how he and the X Team have been handling the XSX reveal. They went at the Game Awards for the first words about it and later straight to DF and online media which is aimed at gamers. I thought this was much better than Sony staying shut for months and then coming up with a video that was meant for GDC. If you're making a reveal for the gamers and the indystry as a whole just do something better. That reveal was pretty bad IMO.

That said, I think PS5 and XSX have very different approaches. Graphically speaking there's no doubt the XSX is stronger. But there's a lot more to talk about here. Its APU is probably a lot bigger and having almost 50% more CUs than PS5's APU will make it a lot more expensive. PS5 is probably a lot faster than the X and I'm wondering how much of a difference this will make while gaming.

Seeing how bad the economy is right now (and probably will be for a long time), I think the cheapest console will have a better time selling. And in this case I think PS5 will comfortably sell for $100 less than the XSX. If Lockhart had been put on hold or even cancelled, at this point I believe Microsoft will make a big deal out of it in the next few months. And no, I don't believe it'll be a 4TF box. I believe they'll go as close as PS5 as they can while keeping a cheaper price.
