Matt Booty: Xbox studio exclusives won't be 90 hour AAA games but as close to AAA as possible.

I’d say RDR, ACO, ES, DA all fit his bill of huge AAA 90 hr games
On average people are still only sinking 40-60 hours into those.

Don't misunderstand: I'm aware longer games exist. But the length of a game isn't a measure of quality, nor do I trust general estimates for a length of a game. I'm always sinking extra hours into games I enjoy whereas 200+ hour adventures like Witcher 3 lost my interest after the first 30 hours or so.

Heck, I'm approaching 2,000 hours in a game that can be ostensibly beaten (by credit feeding) in about 23 minutes.

depends on how much time you lose with completionist stuff, sidequest, etc.
both rdr2 and ac odissey are full of stuff to do so 100 hours are not so hard to imagine for some people.

i mean, i did almost 100 hours on horizon just because i love the combat system...
Agreed, but please see above.

Maybe they should create a chart with what AAA, AA, and A actually means and what games are classed as them.

Because I think everyone has a different definition :/

Sounds like a failure. Thats what you're going to have people wait 2 years for?
2 years? More like 5-6 years.
time wasters != quality games
Yes, the Xbox guy is talking about game longevity but I believe he's actually talking about the overall quality and scale of the games from their newer studios.
Don't expect an avalanche of big titles, just a lot of Game Pass filler games.

Why the F would you say that lol

What does AAA even mean anymore, anyway? Just make good games.

oh yeah i was just saying that some AAA games really are 100 hours long.

i love big games myself, i don't get bored if there is enough interesting contenents and the core gameplay is fun and deep.

explain this shit, please.
By 90 hour he meant for campaign(in games like Halo Infinite) or main story(for RPGs).
If that is gamepass filler, than so are all SIE games(none of them took 90 hours). Halo Infinite/Hellblade II would be 20 hour at most.
Well that answers my previous thread re: Fable RPG. Microsoft has no intention of competing.
Anything more than 50 hours for the main story of a RPG is a drag. Obsidian's narrative style does not fit that anyway.

Lmfao so basically more gamepass filler.

Dont worry xbros we still got halo infinite (5 years in the making).

Not even close to the truth, but by all means buy into an idiot who edits footage and makes a clickbait headline. Just look at the size of these studios MS acquired and you will know this moron has an agenda.

Ori is the best game I’ve played in a long time. While death stranding(a 90hr AAA epic) was probably the most boring.

I’m totally happy with smaller “super well crafted” games

Keep em coming Mr. Booty

What people don't talk about enough is replay-factor. I first bought 'Lifeless Planet' in summer 2014. I completed the game back then but have since replayed it or just some levels many times. My Steam account shows 120+ hours of total gameplay and I know I will want to play it again. It's just so f-en immersive!

Yeah. This is where MS has jack shit on Sony. Games.
Sony will come out swinging with Horizon 2 while MS gives us more Halo, Forza 8 and some indie shit.
How is a new AAAA halo game worse or less valued than freakin horizon 2 ? Anyway the thread is misleading and frankly embarrassing. Sony fans should have some dignity and just stop, tbh.

Well that’s obvious given their acquisitions. They have probably boosted their AAA output by 50% and their AA output by 200%.

But still things can be deceiving. Hellblade 2 doesn’t have a huge team and therefore AAA budget, but will be in similar style to a Sony walkie talkie.

Then there’s making stuff similar to Psychonauts 2, I will take lots of games like that instead of the run of the mill AAA stuff!

I don't think Fable applies to this since he clearly said "our recently acquired studios".

Fable is being worked on by Playground and will most likely be AAA.

What I'm saying is I'd rather have a truly great 50-hour game that can makes me want to replay it 10x over the next 5 years rather than 'one and done'. That's 550 hours of fun! Does anyone agree with me?

Hellblade II is by 100 people(thats what they said). But seriously, 90 hours ?? Never gonna happen.

I'd love to have an RPG that was so much fun I'd want to replay it multiple times, like I did with Phantasy Star 2 back in the day.

He simply states that not all 16 studios are working on 100+ million Dollar AAA titles. A quote, taken out of context by a fanboy to generate clicks.

Many of these studios are not actually suited to realize projects on such a scale.

There is nothing to see here, Let's leave the thread to the Sony fanboys ... they have already taken over the thread anyway.

Even though the vid is edited (lol), what is said sounds to me like he's saying some of the studios they have bought are smaller studios, who probably wouldnt be able to make AAA level games, but they are going to try and provide them with the resources to get them as close as possible.
I know looking at it without a fanboy cap on my head is probably the wrong thing to do on here, but that was my take.
Also not one mention of gamepass in the vid, which in itself shows the agenda behind that tweet.

Yup, just play what you like.

One thing for sure is that huge AAA games are only a small part of the market. But for some reason on here people act like they are the only games that exist.

I’m glad someone is putting some real money and effort into smaller, more unique experiences.

People also play Halo 5/Gears of war for hundreds of hours. But Halo Infinite campaign is going to be 20 hour at most. He is not talking about replayability here.

Would make for a better lineup imo.

But depends on what games they make. If they have high quality diverse games, all for it.

Use good ips like ori, banjo, project dark, keep quality high and it would be great.

Some of the best games out there are AA and relatively short games. Length should never be equivalent of quality (although that doesn't mean that lengthy games can't be of great quality either). Budget also doesn't mean much either. Personally i prefer AA because they usually have more freedom to try new things. Gameplay and Art direction are much more important than graphics and performance. At least for me.

There are lots of valid aspects to judge a game's quality. But length and budget are not two of them IMO.

(Btw i am not talking about cheap indie trash but more about mid-tier games)

Dat weak PS5 got dem sony fanboys all kinds of salty :)
Word up xbro these sony fanboys need to get their blood pressure checked. These sodium levels are through the roof.

Will you be buying halo infinite (5 years in the making)?

Also please subscribe to gamepass. We need to support that fucking pirate game. Fight the good fight brother. :lollipop_sunglasses:

Man if only they had like 2,5 Billion to found AAA Exlusives.....instead of wasting it on Minecraft.....
Im calling it, Sexbox wont sell as much as Nintendo Switch.

Mess up what marketing?
Creating a narrative that isn't true is messing up marketing. MS invested to create AAA games. This short clip is out of context and purposely cut to make a claim that isn't true. For some odd reason the guy wants to pass misinformation to people who would listen to him. We live in a day and age where people will believe lies over truth.

Take this thread. We are all knowledgeable and understanding that the claim isn't true but some people will believe it and spread the narrative. People are set in their ways. Can't change that.

Hey scro, how's it hangin'? XBros are life man.

I'll wait and see before I judge their quality. I'd like them to have high replay value than One and done wonders that other companies drop. I can get by 50+hour games but as long as they aren't a massive drag and boring.
