Mask Efficacy |OT| Wuhan!! Got You All In Check

Good find! I'm going to stock up on zinc supplements as per Alex Jones's recommendation. He's one step ahead of the curve too and the MSM ban him for it.

Amazon banning sells of masks to regular people is just part of the media scare. What fucking difference does it make if they continue to sell these products to regular people? None.

Just saw the Trump tweet update. Hell yeah for "P act all the way." Man, 3M is going to get a lot of well deserved shit for this.

I'm not going to damn 3M just yet - this really depends on the contractual obligations that exists between a distributor and manufacturer.

For example, on one extreme, there is sole distributorship where one company (that is not the manufacturer) that literally owns the full legal rights of selling a product (can be domestically, internationally, or globally).

A manufacturer can't just abandon that obligation just because a pandemic strikes.

3M's response might be crass, but really this is an area I would argue that the feds should be stepping in. Obviously, without knowing the agreements, this is speculation, but devil's in the details IMHO.

Goddamn if true... Hopefully a reporter will ask about this in the next press conference.

I hope the same.
Why on earth didn't he invoke the act a month ago when people were asking him to? Deblasio was basically begging him everyday in his press conferences. I know many other local politicians around the country were too.
Thank god he finally acted though. Or did he? He's claimed to have used it before when he hadn't.

Now he needs to invoke it to have other companies make surgical masks and the like. C'mon Pres, get r done.

Because his initial approach was all about bringing corporations together to help, taking advantage of the unprecedented spirit of cooperation or whatever he called it. He wanted to give companies the chance to step up and do their part rather than forcefully take them over.

I understand the desire to want fast action, but imagine if he had started using the emergency act immediately without even giving corporations a chance. People already called him a wannabe dictator before all of this.

So I think the tracker for USA gonna become a bit useless.

As of March 31, the NYC Health Department is now reporting the number of COVID-19 cases by diagnosis date, instead of report date. Diagnosis date is the date that someone went to their doctor and had a swab taken for testing. We were previously using the reported date of infection. Diagnosis date is more reflective of when people are getting sick and being tested.

Due to this change, case counts per day reported previously will not match current daily counts. Information about cases over the last week will be incomplete until the laboratories and hospitals report the results for people who were tested, which can take a few days to a week.

Then I don't see how the demand outdoes the supply. 10 million in a week should be plenty for the hospitals if we're just talking workers and patients, not the general public.. And that's just from one manufacturer.

3 M doesn’t sell direct. I don’t see how this is on 3M.

Because they knew about it and still sold to their distributors. Maybe there are some real nuanced details that can make this all sound reasonable, but I'm doubting it at this moment.

3M is massive. They do business with a shit ton of distributors at the global level. They have no functional way of enforcing the sale of these masks past the distribution.
It’s like your auto dealer telling you not to drive the car theY just sold you over 25 mph. They have no bearing on what happens after you leave the lot.

When has Trump ever given a shit about what some press members thought? Are you calling the President a pussy?
He knew enough to ban travel from China, but he thought that was enough to prevent any outbreak in the US? Are you calling the President a moron?
He wanted to give companies a chance, before he decided to make moves to save American lives? You're definitely calling him a monster, and a failed President.

After the 3M thing, what do you think about the US taking test kits from Italy?

Is this how the US works? "We first, fuck the rest"?

From the article:

“This is a great example of how nations are working together to ensure that we’re meeting the global demand,” Friedrichs said.

Make with that what you will.

While I'm certainly in favor of funding groups with goals of prevention and security in general, I'm not seeing any evidence that if they had more funding they would have done anything to prevent this.

The PREDICT project, launched in response to the 2005 H5N1 “bird flu” scare, gathered specimens from more than 10,000 bats and 2,000 other mammals in search of dangerous viruses. They detected about 1,200 viruses that could spread from wild animals to humans, signaling pandemic potential. More than 160 of them were novel coronaviruses, much like SARS-CoV-2.

They detected a ton of viruses, including novel coronaviruses over the years. It's quite unclear if any direct actions were ever taken as a result of their research. Maybe if they had actual people on site in that Wuhan lab when it's rumored other researchers were exposed to the virus, they could have sounded an alarm about it, but that's really neither here nor there.

I feel like this is always going to be one of the things that globalization with struggle with.

If there is a shortage of product, who gets it? The person who pays the most? The person who needs it the most? The person closest? The person with the biggest gun? None of them are particularly 'fair' but life isn't fair.

If you set yourself up needing things from across the globe and suddenly everyone, including the people across the globe, need that thing badly.. Why would they ship it to you instead of using it themselves? I have zero faith that people will continue to abide by good nature once the bodybags really start to pile up.

I don't know what the answer is other than every county should be making their own important shit to be self sufficient for at least a time.

Hoo ra?

While at the same 3M is being accused of selling much needed products to other nations... Double standards, much?
It depends. The article doesn’t state who owned the swabs. If it was already US military equipment, then I have no problem with them taking them back to their own citizens.

If not, yeah that would be blatant double standards and not cool.

From the article:

Make with that what you will.
That just sounds like propaganda.

Yes.

That is how it should work too. Our citizens come first. And yet we are helping.

If you want this threat contained, let the US get their shit in order, because the CCP fucked us all, then you vassal states will be next. Until then, well, I hope your politicians can get their shit together.

Nah masks are needed in huge quantity because they're discardable. It's like gloves and needles, you throw them away once they've been used with a patient. Health workers are supposed to use a dozen a day. France alone estimated its needs to 40 million masks a week, and made an order for 1 billion of them from all available sources, despite having local manufacturers too. And all other countries are doing the same, so there's a huge competition to get those.
