The SeX one is ok, maybe alittle underwhelming, the Sega CD NA version I really like, also really like the Pal/JP versions:

Ask me about my Stream Deck
Reminds me of my first ever thread I made on the subject, good times :messenger_smirking:

Yeah on topic, I really like what I'm hearing from this jingle, it kind of feels like I'm being greeted by angels on my arrival in heaven.
Hopefully it wasn't too recent 😓

I know I've seen one before but since there was a new contender I just decided to open a new thread.

6/10

Not a fan of putting the brand's block letters in the bootup sequence and the soundmark is overindulgent (lasts far too long). But it's clean and has an aura of elegance to it, so commendable nonetheless.

For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of the PS3 and PS4 bootups. Erasing nostalgia, both PS2 and PS1 are dreadful. X360's was great, solid 8/10.

Gamecube logo is too perfect, but it doesn't really match the cartoony sound imo.

From all of the boot screens I've seen or heard, this is the 2nd best by far, only a very, VERY little bit bellow the masterpiece that the PS3-fat intro (pre-3.0)is.

I mean...when a console is booting, is basically initializing every component on it and getting it ready to play a game. The use of the recording of an orchestra, tuning their instruments on "La" previous to the entrance of the conductor is an analogy so on point that it's just sublime: every instrument of the orchestra is getting ready, as every component on the console is.

As a fan of live classical music, the expectation that the tuning creates previous to the interpretation of a piece gives me the chills.

It's ok. Shows just the brand logo and kinda sounds like the Windows 2000/XP boot audio.

Best console boot is Dreamcast:
- creative way to show a logo and his name in glorious 60 frames per second
- even a monkey could draw the logo
- the sound is a waking up thing, but with some "water drop" effects that just makes you feel calm, like when it rains softly
- less than 10 seconds, so no fuzz to play
Sega created the Dreamcast to be a brand, and it's a shame that never got the gold that deserves.

PlayStation wins by close second:
- very powerfull starting sound, like a mecha waking up, and a nice "getting chill" sound at the end
- it's not just the console name showing up, it's the brand, and will never get old
Sony knew that his name should be as recognizable as the PlayStation logo, so they created their own logo to Sony Computer Entertainment to be shown before the PS logo. This created a little problem: 20 seconds of boot and still has the loading of the game, which could easilly be one minute.

Game Cube for third place:
- creative show with a cube. Can't do much of it, but they sure did
- quick as hell, and it has sound variations that the player(s) could do as a fun easter egg
- shows that is a Nintendo console and his name
Nintendo didn't do a boot for the N64 because consoles are not used to do that, but they tried to show something with some games back in the day, like Zelda, Conker's, Perfect Dark... So they thought in a nice way to show in their next console, and they did. Than they trown everything away on the Wii with just a warranty message, got lazy with just a JPEG of the Nintendo and the Wii U logo, and got their shit together with the Switch.

It sounds like windows OS, which i find a bit boring and underwhelming. I usually turn my console first and 10 seconds later i turn my TV on to avoid boot up sounds. They are meant to be played the very first time you boot the console after you bought it or after an upgrade, after that I would not want to see that screen nor see the boot up sequence.

I don't care for the new sound. It's boring, new-age crap. It really does sound like a Windows boot. Put some energy into your music!
