Who said PS5 SSD is 5x faster?

Its in a bit of a riddle but was confirmed a third party dev. That speed part has to refer to ssd and io.... if not what else?

Yeah I have got around 20 DMs spoiling the game for me, but unfortunately for then, I have seen all the spoilers of the game before then even sending it to me, and that made me excited for the game even more!

The game is already breaking records in Pre-order sales!

BGs also liked one of my posts where I said PS5 was probably 12-13 teraflops, so take whatever he says with a truckload of salt.

Anyone else notice that Tim Sweeney has now deleted this post where he is directly saying that the demo running on the laptop was a video player. He left another post which was ambiguous and simply referring to the stream being a video.

I think this is a clear give away and admission of wrong. I hope he doesn't force his devs and try to muzzle them at GDC in august in an attempt to save face because he will be completely destroyed if another one of his engineers comes out and says it. I'm very worried now about Tim letting the demo release. He might block its release.

In his response to the PCGAMER article. He didn't erroneously state that the laptop was running a video player anymore.
But rather that the PS5 wasn't running at 30 FPS. Essentially confirming that the demo did indeed run on the laptop by Epic China chief engine engineer

Stop to spread FUD... no tweet was deleted.

PS. I changed my rate from Thoughtful to lol for your made up post... at first I thought you were being serious.

The xbox seems unlikely to be able to effectively use that 2.4gb/s (or 4.8) speed for reasons pointed out earlier in the thread and not having that io hardware sony does.

If they haven't eliminated the bottlenecks and rely on the cpu for io there should be latency that slows its effective speed further.

In the video it actually takes longer for the bigger games if you watch closely.

State of decay to forza : 15s -21s. Aprox 6 seconds.

Forza to ori : 31s- 36s. Aprox 5 seconds (as will have been part way through a second etc) Can move straight away.

Ori to the cave : 46s-51s. Aprox 5 seconds but (53s) a further 2 second until can move. Total until fully loaded = Aprox 7 seconds.

Cave to hellblade : 59s-1.05s -Aprox 6 seconds. Water doesn't move until 1.06s. Total = Aprox 7 seconds.

Hellblade to state of decay : 1.22s -1.28 - Aprox 6 seconds. Doesn't move until 1m 30s. Total = Aprox 8 seconds.

It's one thing that the game loads on screen, but is frozen, it's not loaded fully until you can move for me.

You can see similar on the loading demo and state of decay loads but then is frozen(or is that animation) either way higher qualtiy assets pop in in the background a second or so after.

I'd also imagine this was the best they could show, maybe in other situations it takes slightly more. Look at hellblade for eg. It loads in a dark place and facing a wall.

Do these last gen games use 5-6gb or on the x is it 9-9.5gb of ram?

Let's go with the 9.5gb.

9.5/7seconds = 1.35gb/s. That could be about right to me for useable raw speed as I'd doubt they will get near sonys 100% losses claim without specific hardware. If they can the Sony have effectively wasted their time and money. If there is any further slowdown in the system the they fall further behind the PS5's already twice as fast.

Again we hear from a dev ps5 is 2.5 minimum to 5 times faster.

Last gen games may not take full advantage but I'm not particularly impressed with the loading demo. On it's own its decent, but with the PS5 io peering over its shoulder and the praise we are hearing for the breakthroughs sony has made, it's sounding like it will be well out done.

You are suggesting PS5 having at least 5X faster SSD/IO.
MS was desperate trying to maximize TFs and managing price while Sony were busy designing a newer architecture.
2021 will tell if Sony did the right thing.

I’m not for people spoiling games but Sony has been pretty draconian in their tactics to silence the controversy around the leaks. I have no problem with them removing copyrighted material, but they have no right to remove twitter posts and videos discussing the leak.

Wow. I knew everything that was in the PS5 but never realized how much of it was lacking the Xbox solution. MS better hope devs dont utilize the PS5 SSD in any meaningful ways next gen because this is not looking good.

How about a reminder to stop current/future misinformation in the thread?

- UE5 demo is running only on PS5 right now, no other platform.

149150.jpg

- Nanite has been demonstrated only on PS5 so far, but scalable on all platforms as long as the memory can keep up with the targeted budget.

149151.jpg

- This gigantic amount of polygons hasn't been heard of on a gaming platform before, only shown on PS5 so far as a consumer gaming platform. There is zero proof that it'll work on any other gaming platforms so far.

149152.jpg

- This is only true on PS5 as a gaming platform, until future proofs. Your storage is your limit on PS5. There is zero proof that it'll work on any other gaming platforms so far.

149153.jpg

- The rest are most likely on all platforms, scalable.

I think last week suggests they did the right thing.......2 more TF would of made little difference to that Demo, the image was so clean and detailed you could not pixel count until epic told you.

Yes everything can run UE5, but we saw streaming artefacts pointed out by Naughty dog on twitter - the SSD is not fast enough, it needs to be FASTER ! Wahahaha - run for your lives !

I thought that leaked originated from an internal Sony meeting last year (April or May?), and the teraflop claim was relative to PS4. Something similar might be said about the rumored Lockhart being as powerful as X1X despite lower calculated TFs. Context is important, but often not properly conveyed.

Considering the lack of optimization for specific hardware features, we saw REYES-like polygon compression, 8K textures and 16K shadow maps on a potentially $500 console. AND BEFORE people start screaming "tech demo, lower expectations" over and over, let's remind ourselves of how the PS4 version of Elemental ran...

Well if the numbers used are correct and it was loading 9.5gb in that time. Assuming older game code wasn't an issue also which it may be, and be improved a bit on optimised code utilising the XVA.

But was also repeating what I intrepted from that dev opinion too which kind of matches up. Min 2.5 - 5 times as fast, presumably in io.

It makes sense to me but is of course at this moment speculation but the more we hear that lines up the more it seems right.

It's already 2 times with ssd alone, factor in bottlenecks not present in ps5 that most likely are in xbox and you have a wider gap if so.

So debunking a fanboy’s lies and misinformation is considered pathetic?

You do know you are now kinda defending him a bit, when someone lies and spreads misinformation then someone needs to put his ass on fire. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

No, I consider your entire Twitter-history pathetic, quite frankly. Each to their own, of course, but if you can't handle criticism, don't share your Twitter-profile here.

PS5's HDMI 2.1 standard doesn't support 4K@240fps. They're most likely targeting 4K@60fps with a 1080p@240fps mode

It's for VR, 4K@120Hz per eye. It'll be 4K@120fps for TV's and probably 4K@240fps downsampled for monitors or eSport compositions, and probably 8K@60fps mode to promote their 8K TV's while at it for deep pocket crowd. 8K@120Hz is a downgrade in terms of colors/HDR and it's beyond HDMI 2.1 at the moment, maybe future chipsets or Display Port 2.0. LG C9 doesn't support 4K@120Hz as has been exposed recently, they're 1440p@120Hz upscaled but with insane input lag on the other hand at around 6.6ms which is monitor level. LG CX supports 4K@120Hz but not with optimal color/HDR range, which is already a problem with OLED's lacking enough brightness to support HDR standards.

Where is the link?

If you want to discredit someone for a "like" to a random post, show what you exactly said and prove he liked it for it.

Edit: lol, I find it. Nice try! 👇;)

You said 4 things:

1. PS5 over 10tf
2. Maybe 12/13tf
3. Gibhub 9.2tf was an early dev kit.
4. Current dev kits are more powerful

I can't help but feel like even 1080p/240 is a stretch. Are we talking about VR? What kind of visual fidelity/image quality are we expecting in a 240fps mode? Surely something will have to be scaled back, even at 1080p.
Its probably possible, 4K@60 and 1080p@240 is rendering the exact same amount of pixels per second. its a 4X decrease in resolution with a 4X increase in fps. Though to be honest its probably overkill, they'll do fine with a 1440p-1600p 120hz mode

This post was pointless. I already stated THREE TIMES that i was mistaken. It wasn't FUD. People should stop taking everything so personal.

I agree with you, but as an interested but uninvolved observer, I think people were giving you some attitude back at the level that they perceived you were engaging at. That's all. But again, I agree, no one should take all this stuff personal. We devolve too quickly into "well, you're an IDIOT!" types of comments when discussing these technical speculations. :messenger_winking_tongue:

For some reason I thought was a good idea play Nioh 1->Everspace -> Frost Punk ->Darkest Dungeon in the last 3 months,
please some bring me a easy game like a Kirby game or something. :lollipop_astonished:

Seriously, great games but all very pusnishing.
I'm going through my first playthrough of Bloodborne (My first soulsborne). As expected, it goes like this:
"This game is amazing!! Holy shit!"
"Fuck this game, this is impossible"
"In your face, bitch!"
*repeat*

My favourite were GT3 and GT4. I played them so many hours day by day, but after GT4 the series didn´t feel good anymore.
i would take GT4 remake instead of gt sport or other racing game. even GT7, because i am pretty sure glorious days of championing cars and their driving and upgrading are over.
