I can't belive he did it. Well he is clearly being a hyprocrite, saying he is not wrong and people is crazy because misunderstood what he said.

Ok this is became a liar in a whole another level, just his tweet with "...and Physics", killed this argument because he is trying to prove his argument and don't quote Tom's words.

He is a lighter version of Timdog.

the craziest thing is the age of all those guys, like timdog is in his late 30s yet it seems his life revolves around xbox. its one thing if they get paid for it, but they don't

XSX would need dedicated HW compression to reach 4.8GB, because the game state would need to be compressed beforehand, so that it is then decompressed at 4.8GB/s. And even if it had a compression chip, or if it was done on the CPU, I doubt BCPack would even work for game states, so the compression ratio (and decompression speed) would be lower.

And that's just the part of loading a game from the SSD into memory. What about saving the game state from memory to the SSD? Can the XSX reach 2.4GB/s writes? Can a compression chip, or the CPU, compress the data at the full 2.4GB/s input?

My guess: they should use some kind of simple compression algorithm that can run on the CPU at full speed when compressing and decompressing game states. It won't reach 4.8GB/s, but probably around 3~3.5GB/s. With those numbers, switching between two XSX-optimized games should take around 7 to 9 seconds.
I'm not suggesting game states will be compressed (they probably aren't). All I'm saying is XSX games should be compressed with XSX hardware in mind, therefore load faster compared with BC games.

Yea that’s neat. Played college football and it always surprised me how many athletes were into gaming beyond madden

Same here. I was always a big gamer and didnt think anyone else would be on my college team when I got there. I was shocked to see that the majority were. I played at a Power 5 school and everyone on the outside thought it was "all business all the time", but in reality it was anything but that.

Anyone else notice that Tim Sweeney has now deleted this post where he is directly saying that the demo running on the laptop was a video player. He left another post which was ambiguous and simply referring to the stream being a video.

I think this is a clear give away and admission of wrong. I hope he doesn't force his devs and try to muzzle them at GDC in august in an attempt to save face because he will be completely destroyed if another one of his engineers comes out and says it. I'm very worried now about Tim letting the demo release. He might block its release.

In his response to the PCGAMER article. He didn't erroneously state that the laptop was running a video player anymore.
But rather that the PS5 wasn't running at 30 FPS. Essentially confirming that the demo did indeed run on the laptop by Epic China chief engine engineer

And yet this post remains online. Chill man, I know that he has a past of lies and everything, but what is this need to discover if he is lying about this subject or not?

I already addessed that tweet:

"Anyone else notice that Tim Sweeney has now deleted this post where he is directly saying that the demo running on the laptop was a video player. He left another post which was ambiguous and simply referring to the stream being a video."

That post is ambigious and is not what was being discussed.
In that post he is right. The stream IS running a video and the video file was a .mp4 in the title bar.
How is it that you can't understand the difference?

If I'm a Kojima dev and was streaming to you a PS4 game play of death stranding on my desktop and then i told you i already have this running on my Laptop at 4k 60 FPS and it runs smooth.
Don't you understand the difference here? Seriously?

Yeah he sent them to me, I got a lot of notifications LMAO!! I muted that tweet that I have made.

This was me who outright exposed him if you didn't know, I afraid they might mass report me resulting in me getting suspended from Twitter, and yes this is me the LED guy on Twitter.

This specific demo for an unfinished 3rd party engine that is famous for its scalability, and how it's supposed to be running on hardware it was very obviously not even built or optimized for, is such a weird hill for so many people to die on. I'm seeing some of the most spastic arguments and theories in a long while.

I mean, we will see what PS5 and Xbox Series X games actually look like and play way before the consoles come out. That's your benchmark, and that's what you're going to be frigging playing anyway. Are people really so insecure/brainwashed that entertaining even for a split second the possibility that a piece of electronic they don't even own won't be the absolute best ever possible thing on paper to exist disturbs them to the very core and pushes them to lash out and grasp at straws until the sinful thought is eradicated from their mind?

The hardcore PC crowd is possibly even more retarded IMHO, since they are arguing literally over nothing from the get-go. Of course you can (or will be able to in short order, in any case) spend whatever and custom-build a machine that overcomes an arbitrary piece of pre-built, consumer level hardware. The laptop that supposedly ran the demo at 10 fps more than a PS5 would have been mounting a GPU that costs north of $800, before you factor in all the other pieces. I mean, I don't think the demo was seriously tested or showcased on anything other than a PS5 so far, but even if it were... what's your point? That you can tinker a little with the most alien stuff (e.g.. to overcome a potential cap in RAM due to the slower SSD) and brute-force your way to a slightly better results overall? Yes, you can? And...?

To be completely honest, that tweet you wrote was pathetic. It’s no better than what Team Green is doing on Twitter - shittalking to gain followers.

Some questions on unspecified:

1. Is CPU processing utilized to make the process more coherent ?
2. Will it utilize CPU core if its not dedicated hardware ?
3. If none, it invalidates the entire cache before filling it with new data, more susceptible to GPU stalls. Worsens Latency.
And all this custom silicon is Sony's trade-off for less CUs, let's see if it pays off.

"I think" vs. "they are" in the removed tweet

Its quite clear why he removed one rather than the others. One is a speculation statement. The other is a definite declaratory statement which was wrong.

Again last night he had a chance to make a definite statement that It was a video. He could have easily ended everything. Instead he did the exact opposite, he actually confirms the demo being run on the laptop at 45fps by bench-marking it against the ps5 performance.

Have we already seen XSX IO capabilities in the quick resume tech demo they showcased ?

All games have a consistent 5-6 seconds load time between switches. They flush out 13.5GB RAM between the switches.

If my amateur speculation is correct, it takes 5-6 seconds to fill up 13.5GB RAM. This is 2.25 GB/s to 2.7 GB/s of transfer speeds and does not depend on type of game.

The xbox seems unlikely to be able to effectively use that 2.4gb/s (or 4.8) speed for reasons pointed out earlier in the thread and not having that io hardware sony does.

If they haven't eliminated the bottlenecks and rely on the cpu for io there should be latency that slows its effective speed further.

In the video it actually takes longer for the bigger games if you watch closely.

State of decay to forza : 15s -21s. Aprox 6 seconds.

Forza to ori : 31s- 36s. Aprox 5 seconds (as will have been part way through a second etc) Can move straight away.

Ori to the cave : 46s-51s. Aprox 5 seconds but (53s) a further 2 second until can move. Total until fully loaded = Aprox 7 seconds.

Cave to hellblade : 59s-1.05s -Aprox 6 seconds. Water doesn't move until 1.06s. Total = Aprox 7 seconds.

Hellblade to state of decay : 1.22s -1.28 - Aprox 6 seconds. Doesn't move until 1m 30s. Total = Aprox 8 seconds.

It's one thing that the game loads on screen, but is frozen, it's not loaded fully until you can move for me.

You can see similar on the loading demo and state of decay loads but then is frozen(or is that animation) either way higher qualtiy assets pop in in the background a second or so after.

I'd also imagine this was the best they could show, maybe in other situations it takes slightly more. Look at hellblade for eg. It loads in a dark place and facing a wall.

Do these last gen games use 5-6gb or on the x is it 9-9.5gb of ram?

Let's go with the 9.5gb.

9.5/7seconds = 1.35gb/s. That could be about right to me for useable raw speed as I'd doubt they will get near sonys 100% losses claim without specific hardware. If they can the Sony have effectively wasted their time and money. If there is any further slowdown in the system the they fall further behind the PS5's already twice as fast.

Again we hear from a dev ps5 is 2.5 minimum to 5 times faster.

Last gen games may not take full advantage but I'm not particularly impressed with the loading demo. On it's own its decent, but with the PS5 io peering over its shoulder and the praise we are hearing for the breakthroughs sony has made, it's sounding like it will be well out done.

Exodia Exodia you need to chill out a little you are seeing conspirators in places where doesn't exist.

Man is okay if you like Xbox more than PS5.

I already explained. I searched for that tweet and couldn't find it. My mistake and i own up to it and i get on my knees and repent!
However, I hold no allegiance to any platform unlike others. I have both a high-end PC 32 GB Ram with an NVME SSD, a Xbox One and a PS4 Pro.

Man do you know the framerate of PS5 in that demo without the vsync for framerate I mean average, max, 1% low because I don´t.

Because you know a game and this demo usually is capped for a lower framerate because you want feel fluid , so even if you average in around 40 fps in PS5 for put a number
you will set a framerate to 30, the only way you set a game to 60 fps should be when is the 1% low is 60 or almost 60.

regardless, that employee is most likely busy with his RTX 2017 laptop and updating his CV in 60 fps
