PlayStation 5 Reveal on June 4th Postponed

That is the other side of the coin, Sony gets to be in control of things they shouldn't have any power of.
If Microsoft goes ahead with their presser they would automatically be deemed the bad guy, why - because big boss Sony controlled the pace.
As I said Sony is having double standards here, in plain words they are saying Y lives is more important than Z lives - otherwise they would have canned their E3 show in when homo sexuals got killed.
If you do not see the problem here then you really are fucked up and I am talking to you directly because I know you tend to have a hissy fit when something negative about Sony is said so your post is hypocritical.
I don't care if anyone says something negative about Sony. Some of you read way too much into my comments, because Idc about console wars outside of a handfull of threads on neogaf around new console launches. 😉

And how is Sony saying Y lives are more important than Z lives?
That's just a narrative you're creating.
It couldn't possibly have something to do with the outcry of years of racial attacksnon minorities by the police that just happened to be triggered by Floyd, with the result of days of protests over 140+ cities in the States alone, the entire police force as well as the National Guard suppressing both protestors and the press and the US protest dripping over to Europe, where slowly riots are starting as well in London, for example.

This isn't some random mob hyvemind thingy, when you've got the higher ups of the US police openly admitting that institutionalized racism is a fundamental problem within the police force and you have mayors and governors openly attacking your president and vice versa.

Making this political wasn't necessary.
Quite frustrating to see this, makes you wonder if there isn't more at play here.

Sorry but what is more important now? A black man killed by a cop in the US? Guess what?! People die, and get killed everyday , the world is filled with evil. Does that mean we should stop our lives now and keep grieving?

I'm Sony biggest fan here, but this is just bullshit excuse and very hypocritical.

The problem is systemic racism from mostly goverment institutions in the United States, killing another unarmed, unthreatening black human being and that people are fed up with this shit continuing. Personally when I saw how that man was treated by that officer, I got fed up. Imagine if that shit happened in my country, to somebody I care about! Now imagine that happening on a monthly, sometimes even weekly basis.

Sorry if you think video games are more important than human lives. But I personally dont think so.

Regardless of Sony's true intentions, we'll never know but the delay happened and if if there's a silver lining...
When they do reveal the PS5 (hopefully soon), we can all enjoy the experience hopefully a little more in tune with one another after all this mess. White, Black, Asian, Brown, Purple, Yellow, Green, it doesn't matter. We're gamers and we enjoy playing and discussing games. Together.

Sorry for the corniness but its true, especially at a time like this.

They weren’t, but once it the first brick was thrown everyone jumped in. That was the plan. Infiltrate and ignite. It worked just as they’d planned.

Some people did this, but claiming every protestor became part of a riot is completely incorrect.

I didn't even consider the real reason they did this until some people pointed it out.

Sony wants this reveal to dominate the news. That won't happen while everyone is only reporting on and watching this riot bullshit. So they postponed it to when they can get news coverage again while pretending it's "for the good of black people." Garbage.

I see that this has hit a nerve with the adolescent crowd here.

Lets be honest. What is going on in the United States is a massive distraction and announcing a new and likely expensive piece of hardware this week would be foolish when you can wait a couple weeks.

What is going on in the United States is also more important than you getting an advanced look at something you can't buy for another 4 or 5 months. Sony PR did good work here all around.

Well, I think Sony overestimates how important the reveal of the PS5 is. This is pretty incredible arrogance on their part, and again, catering to a certain demographic. If you head over to Reset you'll see a whole thread of people creaming themselves and fawning over Sony's actions.
This definitely kills my excrement, but whatever. Justice will be served if their event gets spoiled by leaks. I don't really care, just show me what they are planning so I can decide if I'm going pure PC for next gen or bothering with either of the consoles.

What happened to Floyd is bad, I'm against the hypocrisy because people get killed even worse than that everyday. So what...lets cancel life and start looting, stealing ... oh sorry I mean protesting the horrible world we live in.

And this just isn't a US based problem, this racism is all over the world as well and I know everyone is all pissy about not getting to see the PS5 on Thursday, but in the end it is just a game system, right now this movement needs the loudest voice it can have and I totally understand delaying the event right now, it's not the end of the world to wait a smidge longer, the game system isn't going anywhere. I know horrible shit happens all over the world as well and not just in the US, but right I feel there is a real chance for something to change for the better, this type of prejudice has gone on just way too long both here and abroad. I know I am going to catch a ton of flack, but just show some compassion and try to put yourself in their shoes right now...

Thread moves quickly, so, i'll just copy paste my post from previous page.

Bunch of comments here are embarrassing. If you are already saying that murders or racism happen every day worldwide then every company in every business segment should postpone the conference every day. Yes, there was a murder and triggered huge protest across the US, but the protests are certainly not at such a level elsewhere as in US. LITERALLY. The Yellow Shirts protest in France 2 years ago is nowhere near close what is happening now across the US. Compared to US, it's piece of cake. People are going at the job carring guns to protect themselves, people are scared for their own property and now they are try to defend it with weapons because thieves and vandalist. Just saw on twitter that actor John Cusack was attacked by police for no reason. Shit is real. You'll get your conference and games one day. Just wait till dust settles.

We should cancel every entertainment event any time someone is murdered by a bad person. Since that happens every day, let's just shut down society and sit around being emo forever.
As a former emo tight girl jean teenager I agree with this sarcasm.

They will probably delay PS5 over a Nyan cat meme death.

Even if you don't believe their intentions in regards to all of this, it would have been a horrible PR move to go out with a big reveal at a time like this.

Well perhaps I should take my statement back - these protests seemed isolated to certain cities, but you're saying it's becoming pretty widespread? I can never tell with the news, they try to hype everything out and then things usually fizzle out in a few days.

Hong Kong as a thing, its identity and way of life is essentially being erased as we speak, me thinks the corporation doesn't want to get on the bad side of China by calling that out though.

I'm fully supportive of stamping out racism that has infested police departments all over America but yeah cant say I'm bowled over by the bravery of Sony here when they(just like every other corporation) has ignored so much injustices in society.

Gee I wonder where the vast majority of PS5 consoles are going to be manufactured???

Literally zero fucking reason to do it.
2 reasons:
1- You don't want the protests to distract people from the unveiling of your product. So it's better to avoid presenting it at this time.
2- Democrats are 50% of the american people. If they start saying Sony is racist on twitter that can affect sales.

It's nothing more than a bussiness decision. Just trying to avoid getting negative attention from the public. Specially in America which is the market where their main competitor supposes a bigger threat.

I don't like that they have posponed their reveal, but I can understand why.

350,000 people have died worldwide from a pandemic, we have an almost complete global shutdown, folks told to isolate for months on end or risk death

Sony: Hey here is 1 hour of post-apocalyptic gameplay from the last of us 2.

BLM start another anti-police campaign that results in mass violence and looting.

Sony: Now is not the time to talk games

It's political as fuck and it sucks, I swear the Californian PR team have never even stepped outside of their own state, the situation in the US sucks, but the last time I checked 2020 is sucking for pretty much everyone and I was really looking forward to some PS5 stuff.

THIS a million times^

This is a pure marketing decision from Sony because the *SPOTLIGHT* won't be on them for the PS5 news. I actually think this makes them look worse then just going ahead with it.

Don't let their "feel good" message deceive you. They don't care. They only care for the most media coverage. Going up against riots they won't win.

Think about it and let it sink in.

I do think their publicized reasoning is disingenuous. I fully suspect that if protests had remained peaceful, they would have gone on with this event as normal and even thrown in a mention to BLM to score virtue points. It's only because it turned to rioting and people's livelihoods are being destroyed that they postponed it, and for good reason (just not for the reason they stated of allowing "more important" voices to be heard).

People where saying the same about last of us 2, even claiming it launch as ps4/ps5 title. Sony can't delay this for long thats for certain.

I meant the situation in the US is really bad right now and I don’t expect things to settle in a week or 2.

At least attempt to sound smarter than Trump himself if you're going to comment on such things.

You have a president that's as smart as the population

Sounds like a perfect match to me

Or if you do elect Biden at least you can burn down your own communities more often since he'll just forget about them every 5 minutes
