Day of the Dead (1985)

I watched this for the first time on Blu-Ray. I hadn't seen it in a long time. This is my favorite Romero zombie movie. Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead are great too but I have always like this the most. Joseph Pilato is great as Captain Rhodes. The movie has a very good soundtrack.

Haven't seen it yet. Might check it out soon.

Saw Fractured, also from Netflix, while nothing new in the genre, its pretty decent too.

Movie had a goal of motivating the viewer, I think they tried to get the sports motivational movie thing done right. If given the chance I would watch it again no question. Ben Affleck has that star thing.

Watched Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I FUCKING LOVED THIS MOVIE. One of the rare cases of a sequel being better. It's just a fun, action packed roller coaster ride. What the hell were critics smoking?

The Rodan awakening scene was so damn amazing, there's so many good action set pieces.

Only watched one series and a film with him on Netflix so far :messenger_grinning_squinting:

There's more, is that it?

He was in another Netflix movie where he was going to be an astronaut living on Venus' moon IO because of some whatever reason so they inject him with some shit that changes human DNA.

Me and the wife watched Inheritance with Lily Collins and Simon Pegg the other night.

Really enjoyed it. Pegg was a masterclass as usual.

Little Monsters.

Australian zombie movie about primary school kids going on an excursion.
Was better than Zombieland 2 and it doesn’t feature fake Australian accents which is nice.

I’ve been watching old movies lately.
Pump up the volume. Love this movies and that girls tits look great.
Prayer of the rollerboys. I feel like the left would be about executing the rollerboys plans. Fun movie and Corey is awesome in this.
Con Air. Do i need to say why this movie is awesome?
True Romance. Another Slater movie but one of my favorite up there with Die Hard for different reasons.
Going to watch Dirty Harry tonight and Lone Wolf Mcquade.

Just saw this movie for the fourth time in 20 years... I'm going to come out and say it. I'm not scared anymore.

The Count of Monte Cristo (Jim Caviezel + Guy Pierce) is one of the 10 best movies of all time. It's f*cking awesome.

It's only misstep is the last 10-15 minutes is fairly disappointing. The first 90 percent of that movie is so consistently great from scene to scene.

If you like movies that focus on being fun, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Alita: Battle Angel are the two most overlooked movies of the last 5 years IMO and I'm desperately craving sequels.

Solo is like the natural continuation of the formula that Indiana Jones and The Mummy franchises established. So, sci-fi Indiana Jones. It seriously felt like Uncharted in space at times. Super likable cast which is very important for this light-hearted adventure type movie. No political bullshit either, the focus of the movie is just the adventure which we rarely see nowadays sadly. Also, Han doesn't seem buyable as being Han first, but his character progression makes sense and you totally get why he becomes so jaded in the near future. I loved it.

Alita is the closest thing we've gotten to the absurdity of dark anime in live-action IMO. This movie gets SUPER dark at times. Awesome disturbing visuals, brutal deaths (even if they did make the blood blue), moments of cruelty, etc. Again super likable cast (bar one...) and Alita herself is adorable and very interesting. It trims off all the usual shitty fat of your typical manga/anime and keeps all the good stuff to make something that's not extremely obnoxious to watch, but incredibly engrossing. Great dystopian/dark sci-fi worldbuilding too if you're a nerd about that kinda thing. And again no shitty agenda to ruin the fun! Loved it.

I kicked back and watched Heist films all day. A few flicks I hadn't seen in years.

Oceans Eleven -still a great flick. Inception, fantastic. The Usual Suspects - yah Spacey's in it - but it's still brilliant.

Need recommendations/help:

I'm in the mood for a specific concept that I'm sure must exist in movie form. Basically: you wake up - *you* were the dream.

Any movies like that? Like where the hero assumed he was leading a normal life for all his lifetime, but then, bamm, he *wakes up* and is deeply shook over the loss of his 'life'?

Thx

So like.. The Matrix?

So like.. The Matrix?

Kinda. But in Matrix an external, malicious power creates a fake world with intent. Similarly, in Total Recall the same happens.

I mean waking up from a dream. Basically a reversal of someone falling asleep and then dreaming of an ideal. In my case, some lives a normal/good life, and wakes up. To a whole different life (not necessarily good/bad).

Doesn't seem like such a novel idea, so I thought I'd get lots of recommendations.

Good Time with R-Pat was freaking amazing with a banging synth soundtrack

Still feel like the trailer gives too much away like so many movies

I saw "Priest" last night. It was on the most popular queue on Netflix and I pressed play without even looking up the film. It was an enjoyable action/horror vampire killing flick that currently sits at 15% in Rotten tomatoes lol. Paul Bethany and Karl Urban were good in it. Solid flick for a boring afternoon or night.

Hasta la vista, compay!

Woah there brother, you can't steal my punchline hahaha. :messenger_tears_of_joy: Are you Cuban? I don't think they broadcast the cartoon in any other country. For anyone wondering "Elpidio Valdés" is a Cuban cartoon & he ends up every episode saying that line.

Just to continue the spirit of the thread I'm going to watch "Elpidio Valdés Contra Dólar y Cañón". It's the best of the two movies and a Cuban classic. Too bad it doesn't have English subtitles.

I'm still thinking about how good Godzilla: King of the Monsters was.

That Rodan jet chase scene is so freaking amazing.

I dunno why critics hated it so much, it's such a fun movie.

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

one of the first movie sequels ever. really good stuff. disappointed that the bride only appears for a few minutes but I guess a happy ending for the Monster was never in the cards

production budget was really nice and they went super overboard with the spooky lab

The new Child's Play is pretty good I gotta say. I was entertained.

I don't think I'd call it horror but a remake that doesn't suck is pretty rare.

Watched Spaceballs w my nieces on Sunday they loved it. So much physical humour.

Also a lot of swearing! Like I forgot just how much haha

I love how one of the main jokes is you can tell they spent a lot of money on effects and matte paintings. the ships look like they are right out of SW

Vanilla Sky kind of fits that mold imho. Don't know if you've seen it or not, or if it scratches the itch you're talking about.
