It's not bad, I appreciate the design but the functionality is bit of a frankenstein's monster (especially the menu's that are nested downwards). Overall though, I'm getting a bit fed up of Sony's blustering and delaying.
You'll be pretty satisfied withour cooling solution in the teardown. Three months latet, still no idea what it is or how it works or when the teardown is coming.

And then after a lacklustre showing, Jim Ryan is there saying 'ooo, we have other games as well.' Well, obviously - but none are ready or worthy of showing. I have my PS5 pre-ordered on shopto the minute the accepted queuing, and will probably go all digital but Sony are just pissing me off lately. And just to prove I aint bullshitting

Are GT games interesting to casual gamers? By casual i mean those who doesn't usually play racing simulators. is there something besides really cool car physics and realistic tracks? Is everyone plain it competitive in multiplayer rather than single player? Is it fun without a wheel? I am thinking of giving GT Sports a try.
I hope Sony releases something more about Destruction Allstars soon, for now it looks more fun too me, I was always more about far-from-realistic racing games.

Sure its somewhat tedious but common. Its marketing. They want you to stay hyped, interested, frustrated and so on. They want you to think about Next-Gen all the time. To talk and discuss about it as much as possible.
Thats pure and unfortunately very effective marketing.

Just wanted to say, folks were trying to sell the narrative that there was no RT on PS5, and now a bunch of games have RT and everyone is quiet about it. Even Spiderman will have RT puddles. Where's the hype about RT???

To be honest, a lot of the obvious "xbox camp" folk have abandoned this thread because they didn't like the way the conversation wasn't going their way the last couple of months.
So this kind of stuff isn't really going to affect that many because they don't come here right now. It's probably the one place it can be posted without irritating them lol

I don't understand the concern about availability of games, especially after the last reveal. There were what...about 15 games shown that will be releasing at launch, or very, very close to launch with a few that are coming 2021. That's in ADDITION to the multi-platforms that we know about. Also, there are notably a few studios that were missing from that presentation and are being held back to give Sony more to talk about prior to launch. What is Naughty Dog developing besides TLOU2? How about the studio working God of War? The others as well.
This is easily the most games I've seen shown for a console launch that again are launching with or very shortly after a console (if all goes as planned, of course). No doubt some of those titles will be delayed to some extent. That's the business though. I'm very pleased with what's been shown so far and I think we will all be very happy within a short time of the launch if not right exactly then. Same goes for MS. Plenty of titles have been shown. MS probably is saving some of the exclusives for reveal closer to launch as well.

Yeah that all went quiet didn't it?
Rewind back a month and see the shit being flung at PS5 performance - the Sony reveal has put a lot of that in the shade now at least.
So now we're basically back to 3rd party parity (I'm sure there'll be detail differences but in the great scheme nothing much) and arguing over who's games are better (oh and the size of the console).
That's all subjective though... so not much to say.

You can't talk and discuss anything with little to no information. It's probably why this has been one of the worst generations for console warring. A lot of hypotheticals and people reading unreal texture streaming docs and giving their intepretations of how it all fits together. Marketing is not meant to frustrate a consumer lmao. Right now I have a PS4 Pro in my main room that is literally this:
Sony are saying they have this new revolutionary cooling tech, and they talked about a teardown three months ago. Three. I think three months is being patient enough when these boxes are already being manufactured, to expect a little bit of information on what they've done. Especially when they expect me to have that monstrosity of a console in the living room. I don't think it's unreasonable at all.
I mean, why do we need to speculate now? All the information will be out Holdiay 2020 so there's no point discussing anything right? The games will soon show us the SSD power and RT and all the other goodness. Seems very much like it's OK to speculate and get excited but anything that is more grounded is pooh poohed. A bit like era tbh

Well from what I saw (and I wasn't in the thread from day one) it seemed like a lot of people talking about the xbox power margin as if it was some gulf of performance akin to PS3 v 360 days.
Some simple maths was enough to quiet that down - and that was all it took for the tflop noise to go quiet.
A UE5 Demo and Sony reveal later, and there's peace in this thread because we've now seen the performance and there isn't much to argue over. Some other threads are a bit shouty but it's moved on to who's games are better and that's all subjective stuff.
Anyway I don't think it's a bad thing at all - noisey misinformation is worse than peaceful accuracy I'd say.

Is RT accumulative? If SM and R&C use RT reflections, do they get GI and shadows for no additional performance cost? I didn't spot anything drastically different about lightning in showed footage.
Maybe it is harder to change lighting pipeline than adding reflections. Hope they improve it before the release.

No one should be bashing anyone for their taste in games or preference. We can argue technical merits, etc., but bottom line, if somebody likes a game, an ecosystem, etc., it's not the place to tell them they're stupid for liking whatever it is.
I also think that after MS does another reveal or has some more announcements you'll see the discussion swing that way again as well. This thread has seemed to ebb and flow that way. Right now it's just that there was NO news at all regarding Sony and then that big presentation happened. So it's generated a lot of buzz. Prior to that and during and after the MS game preview, there was a lot of talk about THAT. So while yes there's people with preferences on both sides, I've seen the thread more like a pendulum swinging back and forth.

I'm not sure people who loved their dreamcast would say that was a peaceful period! lol
But anyway, I think the warring came from the inaccuracy of the MS message about power. Simple maths and a little bit of extrapolation from last gens and PC is enough to predict the consoles would be pretty much at parity for mulitplats this gen. So far that is an accurate prediction.
Exclusives play to console strengths so those are just different but again, with so little power margin its difficult to see any major practical differences.
Once the UE5 Demo appeared and then of course the Sony event, more or less all the arguments that had been made in defense of the Xbox tflop advantage, evaporated. The one hook holding the hats fell off the wall.
In fact, this thread is in a way winding up. What speculation is left?
Just the xbox 1st party stuff - but for xsex there's not much to say, it's games are all cross gen so in a sense the launch of xsex is just coincidence to MS releasing some games too.
So we'll hear about Halo and probably Forza, from MS 1st party, the rest is 3 or 4 years away. We already know what 3rd parties plan for the launch window and following year - a lot of Indies and the usual big 3rd party stuff... Unless MS or Sony have raided the piggy bank to money-hat a 3rd party there isn't much else to say now.

It's like a shitty 3D glasses kind of effect, it's in a lot of games (Bloodborne has it and I wish it could be turned off), it's a camera lens issue but devs seem to think "lets include something cameras want to remove".

Godfall, I'm really liking the PS5 version and looks pretty clean and better lighting and graphics with more stable framerates around 60fps compared to the PC version that is getting massive dislikes on youtube. I loved the pace of the gameplay and looks like fun to me.

The Surface is a good looking laptop. But the HW reliability is still poor. Also, I don't understand why MS doesn't ensure the latest release of Windows 10 is actually working on their own devices at the time of release.

You should of expected some fun ribbing back after the 200 threads of the series x size and damn it Sony will do it right ie small like the launch ps4. I have an adult sized entertainment center so i don't care and welcome the extra displacement to help cooling. Next time people should shop in the adult section if these don't fit. Function is first cool and quiet.

Also for me is interesting how much games will suffer from being cross-gen comparing to next-gen only stuff. Or will it suffer at all? Some next-gen only titles may deliver nothing new but graphics, and it's pretty scalable.
OS is not presented too. May be interesting to discuss UX.
Lots of stuff to discuss IMO.

and still getting my XSX first, but beside working full time and pursuing my bachelor degree in my final semester of my extra-occupational study (education is important ). There isn´t much time left to read all pages of this thread Thoughts of PS5 reveal: I hope GT7 will be released "soon" within the next two years. It seems for me it goes back to the roots. At that point I´ll by my PS5 which would be released in complete black I hope by then.

As i said, i don't feel offended/threatened, because I am not even a Xbox owner of any kind. I own only PS4, PC and Switch.

Since it is just a feature set of RDNA 2 PS5 will be capable of using it. I dont think its been named in their API yet. Like DXR is raytracing in directx 12U. VRS is what its called in Directx 12U.
Sony will most likely use it in VR the most.
