Who does believe this BS is clearly not been paying attention to this thread at least. Sony's strange GB is due to 1:1 Channel/module method, they need to add even more channels than 12 (16x16) for around 1100GB. It'll be too expensive at that point to some, I would love a 1650GB model myself (24x24).

I find it hard to believe. In better times, MS, with all their money war chest, only showed interest in buying small studios, why would they shove a ton of money to acquire WB Studios in such a financially compromised year(pandemic, next gen release)?
The war chest! 💰💰

On a serious note, I also dont't hink they are that interested. They've already got so many studios now. I think they checked it out, dipped their toe in the water but weren't very serious. Would be a very expensive studio, and those IP'S are better kept multi platform

I don't think it's easy to buy them, especially Activision. Buying all of them would easily cost beyond $10 Billion.

Yeah, it's absolutely clear (I'm not an idiot :D) and I don't expect a model with more than 825gb at launch. I want to notice that here after it's not the first time I saw PS5s with different sizes online.

So as of now we're expecting Xbox game news late July, and Xbox console news in August. And we're expecting more Sony game news in August. And we've got no inkling of any pricing plans, console or software, beyond an absurdly greedy pubs decision to increase the cost of a roster update from 60 to 70.

Are MS and Sony really playing chess with each other? Or are they just both completely unsure of how many hardware units will be available, when games will be ready, and what they can or should charge for all things next gen?

Or Sony just preload the expandable slot. With Sony custom SSD. And we dont use the approved list of 7gb variants.

I dont do VR :)

No idea on pricing. I mean I have a guess like everyone else but birdies do not speak $$$

All I can try to sum it up is think of XsX as a seriously upgraded Xbox which is great.

Think of PS5 as a new generation of console
I think that is going to be the problem with Xbox presentation this round, how to show something 'nextgen' but can still run on the jaguar CPU? It's alright using 3rd parties, but most of the big players have marketing with Sony so your left with slim pickings. Unless you show something 2-3 years out, but then you risk the game being cancelled or looking nothing like it's reveal. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, apart from just Halo.

Meanwhile Sony are locked n loaded! PS- I don't do VR either!, At least not yet.

I would love a new SOCOM.

Played so many rounds of that with friends and one of the first games I ever played that had the proximity chat coming from the character.

A friend of mine would always have his music blasting in the back ground and his character ran around sounding like a jukebox.
Haha my brother and I still say “yankee doodle come to town” in that Algerian accent. And RAH HE LAAAAhh

An online 3rd person tactical shooter could be considered niche, but then again a game for everyone wouldn't be a game for anybody.

I could read it 1000 times and it won't make it any less delusional.

There is a reason the XSX has fixed clocks. It's because Microsoft know they can power and cool it at that frequency. They have the "paper budget" required.

Sony has directly confirmed that they cannot do that. So you can only calculate down from 10.28, and never, ever, upwards.

Again? Stop with your nonsense and misinformation, I've honestly ran out of ideas to explain this better. Keep your preconceived ideas.

I'll just drop this here, though.

2 cars, exact same aerodynamic coefficient, weight, well size, etc. Both have 100hp engines from engine to flywheel. If your standard efficiency from engine to actual wheel is 90% on one and 95% on the other, the later will be faster.

And now, I'll stop replying to trolls. Enjoy the rest of your day.

To be honest, I can't even imagine that. I mean, I grew up with loading bars. Not to forget the first The Sims with 45 AddOns. Those were the days when you could quickly cook something to eat after the game started.
Oh, weren't you here during the cartridge era? Golden times, when you could just stick the damn thing, turn on the console and begin playing, no load times, no updates, no installs. If next gen can be half what those times where, we're in for a treat!!

I'm trying to think that you're not trolling.

The push Dodkrake is referring to is performance improvement based on the I / O controller, coherence engines, and cache correctors that will decrease wait times on CUs by improving occupancy (Dodkrake has valued this occupancy improvement 8-10% compared to without them).

On the other hand, Smart Shift is a system that exchanges the energy budget between CPU and GPU, clocks are not synonymous with energy expenditure. There are functions that spend more than others even with clocks at maximum.

In a system without Smart Shift if you exceed this fixed budget because you are using very complex functions in the GPU the result is that you must abandon the design or find another way to do it, even if the CPU is not spending its energy budget.

Smart Shift allows you to take it from one to another, this versatility could allow you not to abandon the design and therefore do something that was impossible possible.

I don't understand how something that improves the capabilities of a system is a bad thing. In Road to PS5 Markt Cerny PS5 designer said that the clocks will remain at maximum as long as necessary since the granularity will be 2ms of change. In case of having to lower them due to excessive use of energy and heat generation, the clocks would drop by 2%, consuming 10% less energy. That is, from 10.26 Tflops to 10 Tflops.

I guess you know that no console so far is capable of turning on all of its transistors simultaneously, as this will possibly cause a console blackout due to temperature and power.
I don't think XSX is any different, out of all the console designs so far, not having Smart Shift is just a downside that doesn't allow you to better use the hardware you've purchased. Therefore, now that you are already informed, you can visit the official Smart Shift page to get more information, and if you want, you can also see Road to PS5.

In this way you will be in a better position to understand each hardware and choose the one you like best. My recommendation, let yourself be carried away by the games and forget about the hardware.

Sorry for the text wall and I hope the translator is working fine.

My experience was insert cart into Nintendo, Watch blinking red light. Adjust cart, turn on power, see blinking red light. Take out cart and blow on contacts, insert cart, power on, see blinking red light. Turn system sideways and take cart 1/8 out of the system, power on, see a bit of something of the game on the TV while the light blinks red. Press reset. Game starts.

Play a level for eternity before hitting a checkpoint after being kicked to the start of the level for the 10th time.

beyond that.. I LOVED IT!! Best time of my gaming life. I love these times too :)

The family computer didn't have that problem.:messenger_smiling:

I am a PS guy.

I expect Xbox to give us a very good show with some great graphics.

I have heard things that excite me more about the PS5 from little birdies.
HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 do you know something of Nintendo ? you know a big title for the release dates of the new consoles,
those guys are a grave and if something leak it then ninjas come out from everywhere.

I think Sony still need to show how works in the practice its BC, also be clear with the titles for the release date and maybe SH.

They will use games from second party or without any close release date.

Well, they were buying the smaller studios because of the efficiency of the studios as well as the abilities to help those studios grow. Double Fine, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Compulsion etc are studios that have all released critically acclaimed games on limited budgets and also have multiple teams. MS buys them because they are cheap, and because they have the potential to be scaled up to develop multiple AAA games with their workflow (Ninja Theory's Hellblade 2 will likely be AAA compared to Hellblade 1, Obsidian's Fantasy RPG and TOW 2 will both be AAA games when both of those teams were very solidly AA before etc) and the studios accept them because they are able to have the financial security. A bigger studio like say Platnium or Techland or Larian would be less likely to sell to the underdog as they are all already financially stable and able to make games they want. This allows for MS to spend minimal money and get a lot of higher quality games.

However, now that WB games is potentially for sale, Microsoft is looking into purchasing them as even though the price is steep, the studios are comprised of 5 highly popular AAA studios, many of which have highly anticipated games in the works right now (Batman, Suicide Squad, Harry Potter) and are also completely established and potentially available for sale. MS is going after them because their bet on Game Pass is already paying off, and now they need content, and these 5 AAA studios (plus 5 more smaller studios) popping up for sale is a limited chance opportunity. Something that might get Xbox to open the MS Warchest.

AAA/AA:

Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Gran Turismo 7
Godfall
Horizon Forbidden West
Resident Evil 8: Village
Demon's Souls
Grand Theft Auto 5 enhanced
Project Athia
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
NBA 2K21
Destruction AllStars
Deathloop
Returnal
Hitman 3
Astro's Playroom
Pragmata
FIFA 21

Indie:

Oddworld: Soulstorm
Solar Ash
Stray
Goodbye Volcano High
Bugsnax
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Jett: The Far Shore
Kena: Bridge of the Spirits
Little Devil Inside

So 17 (+GTA5, won't count that) AAA/AA games and 9 indies. 65.38% is AAA/AA and 34.62% is indie.
GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO is not an indie game, it is AAA. It is being made by Tango Gameworks(The Evil Within), the studio established by the Legendary Shinji Mikami, now under ZeniMax Media(Bethesda games)

Maybe it's unpopular opnion but also loved GOW ascension, sure it wasn't as good as the canon game but it was still a very good game to say the least that i quite enjoyed.
Ascension is a canon game and it is just as good, although some people don't appreciate it as much.

I think anyone expecting Microsoft to show something near the level (not equal) of PS5 console/games reveal is really setting the bar too high and isn't paying enough attention to the gaming industry.
Ehh honestly I disagree. I think Microsoft is going to try to emulate the "fire everything" approach, Sony E3 2016 style. I think they'll go all out. Now whether the games match the quality that was shown at that Sony conference, I have no idea.

EDIT: Thanks to Kusarigama Kusarigama that told me that Ghostwire: Tokyo is actually AAA. So 18 (+GTA5, won't count that) AAA/AA games and 8 indies. 69.23% is AAA/AA and 30.77% is indie.

FIXED, thanks to Kusarigama Kusarigama :messenger_winking_tongue: It is near 70% AAA/AA yet with some brain gymnastic it can go as low as 5% vs 95% indies. (Yeah, won't let it go Insane Metal Insane Metal :lollipop_tears_of_joy:)

100% with you here. I wouldn't want Sony to do it either. Keep those games multiplatform. I hope Take-Two ends up winning the bid.
