The Faux “diversity” of TLOU2 (story/character spoilers)

No it's definitely an agenda, I couldn't tell you the last time I interacted with a known homosexual person (4.5% of the population) or the last time I have seen a trans person in real life (0.6% of the population), and I'm in the Seattle area.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. It sounds like a joke because it justifies calling it an agenda by saying someone hasn't made being gay or transsexual known to them recently, but I can't be sure.

I Went to high school with Hispanics and they didn't switch to their language to curse when they were speaking English.

I'm not sure if Neil has ever hung out with a Hispanic person before.

Absolute, let alone the fact that by the time 3rd generation of immigrants happen, all the accent is almost completely gone and some don't even speak the language of their grandparents. But no, this guy probably watched Breaking Bad and thinks all Mexicans are cholos.

TLOU had a gay character and Ellie was gay in the DLC, both were great and so is TLOU 2. I'm just glad I don't let those things affect my enjoyment of games
LGBT characters is not an agenda. It simply reflects life. I have gays in my family and they are normal people like anybody else.

It’s like you’re not even reading the posts you’re trying to argue with.

Not just minority and diversity stereotype. How about this one?
At the dance with Ellie and Abby making out, someone doesn't like it. An old White guy is the one being discriminatory. Not a female. Not a minority. A White guy. As if prejudice only comes from stodgy old White dudes.

DON'T YOU MEAN THE BIGOT AND HIS BIGOT SANDWICHES? BIGOT. BIGOT BIGOT BIGOT. I KNOW WORD. I DRUCKMAN. BIGOT.

This is not how you're supposed to hate on this game. Someone get a hold of OP. Loose canon.

/just in case it ruffles the feathers too much, I'm just messing with you

Ellie and Abby doesn't have prejudice for anyone. They kill everyone that are in the way of their revengeance, despite ethny, genre or sexual orientation.

It's a truly diverse game and the game treats everyone equally.

Lol this Op was so low effort. You guys don't give up huh. I'm an Xbox guy and I find myself commenting on ridiculous takes on this game more than anything. That's white people's problem they always try to assume how minorites feel because they don't have that life experience. It comes out cringe with Sjws and trumpets a like. I'm sick of hearing black people cant be the bad guy too especially if it's a decently written character. Like the only way representation can be good is if they are saints and not because of a good performance/writing.

Asian guy got cucked bad.

Dumped by gf who then promptly turned gay. Lost custody of his child. Unceremoniously shot in the head. I guess ND was trying to erase the progress Glenn made in WD.

Nah, just some glaring story issues that don’t add up and some reviewers were to lazy to talk about them.

I feel like the person who created this thread didn't really do a good job of conveying the issues they have with the story, but maybe it got lost in translation a bit.

As long as as capitalism exist there will always be racism friend and thats the unfortunate truth.
What the ever living fuck is this?

Is this a joke? I honestly can’t tell. (The irony is that Marx was a racist).

We have a politics board, I urge you to take it over there and debate this nonsense.

Fucking Alex Kurtzman... i swear Picard got worse with each episode and was indeed dumb as shit.

Add JJ Abbrams to the mix... I mean Star Wars was murdered.

I find this hilarious btw... the OP pointing out everything else that could be perceived and twisted into racism and prejudice is just... I’m glad I never liked naughty dog games to ever give a shit.

As a south american i am ashamed by the way videogames portray south americans. The most absurd representation i see comes from woke people.

The best latin american representation I've seen is in The King of Fighters XIV. From white latinos (Leona, Angel, Ramon) to brown (Griffon Mask/Tizoc) to black (Zarina, Nelson) to mixed (Bandeiras is a black descendant of Hattori Hanzo)

For me, that game just isn't fun and some stuff I thought was clearly put in for "pushing the agenda"-reasons. An agenda I don't agree with. And that's ok. It doesn't mean that it is a bad game. It's just not for me but I don't hate it or anyone who was involved in its development. I just have a different opinion and expectations as they (seemingly?) wanted to deliver and that's ok. I'm not forced to play it.

You don’t have to shut up. But dropping that kind of a bomb on gaming side isn’t the best way to garner good conversation about wherever it is you want to say.
I hear you. All im trying to say is, cant we just play games and not get offended because this person misrepresented this and that person misrepresented that? I honstly didnt get offended by the hispanic last of us character (Forgot his name) and im a latino thats off the boat from south america.

Ah yes thank you for reminding me of this.
I have always found this shit so cringe.

Can't believe TLOU2 stooped to such a low when it's supposedly aiming for diversity.

Like, he is so stereotyped it's kinda embarrassing.

It's the equivalent of a black character who says THAT'S WACK! DAMN! etc

As if they'd ever get away with stereotyping a black guy the way they do Latinos.

Ps. I love this game and I don't really care about the massive latino steteotype but I will call it lazy like it is

The OP specifically states the stereotype of a big black violent man with super strength... Somehow that's still a stereotype in 2020... Even that we don't feel pain... Some doctors Actually believe this.

And this game expects me to believe Ellie's homsexual relationship, and in conjunction with that her mortal enemy is a protector of a trans female just by happenstance? Right....

That’s what hit me as the most “forced” aspect of it as well.

PLUS - what’s the worlds population in TLOU2? A few hundreds thousands, a few million maybe? The whole seraphite/WLF population must have been - and I’m saying combined as they do mentioned vague numbers -between 2-4K people? Maybe 5k?

it’s not IMPOSSIBLE to see LGBTQ people represented in that figure, but for them to come together in such a way...it’s HIGHLY unlikely and feels like Naughty Dog was more in love with the idea of representing their agenda/minorities than they were just creating GOOD characters first. They wanted to meet a progressive character quota...

First of all I'm Mexican and I don't care about representation and if there is any representation I don't care how close they are to reality. For some reason I don't get offended and nobody I know (Mexican/Gamers) get offended.

That said, there were many characters and there wasn't enough time to deeply explore them I think. I didn't even caught up that the guy was Mexican, I thought it was a random latino. Same happens in many other games where characters are white. Do we really care if for example Snake is Canadian, American, Japanese or whatever? I think we never did, why start now?

They wanted to make a game where gay people are common. Personally I don't see the issue. I don't think it would have made a difference if Lev was trans or not. However, there would be a difference if Dina was a man because of the baby. Other than that, Arabs, Mexicans, Asians... Who cares? Maybe the people claiming for "diversity" but for the rest? It shouldn't even register. Unless "diversity" (well executed or not) doesn't sit well with someone.

I was under the assumption that Abby was a trans caracter and the moment the game reveals Levs story I had the same feeling. Later found out that Abby was not trans at all but my opinion didnt really change btw. Loved the game and had no problems with the choices but the rainbow street art and waving lgbt flags for example were try hard imo

It is more common out there and voila! it's in the game.

Absolutely disgusting. No.

You have burned the internet for just a sexual diversion in two cases, imagine make everything with diversity in mind. Also, it could be a weird decision to make everything diverse.

That's why I don't get the OP at all.
