I also hope now folks can stop lapping up Phils PR, so much about disliking money-hatting? Only to lock ton of timed exclusives themselves.

When 90% of the studios you acquire are indies, you get indie games. Was this all that surprising?

Not really, they have acquired all types. The problem is (which I've been talking about for months) is that none of these studios have had enough time to push out a next-gen only title in next 2-3 years. It's all in early development, which is apparent by the use of CG trailers. Don't pick on em, but rather MS, they had 5 years to prepare for this launch. When you're hiring and building a studio in 2018, there's simply not enough time to build big budget titles in a 2 year time-frame. These acquisitions should have happened earlier.

MS know this, hence so many 'console launch exclusives' they have locked out.

Well, again....to be fair and open, I'm getting a PS5. I do feel the Sony showcase was better, but from the standpoint that it focused on "next gen." That's simply not where MS is focusing going forward. They are focused on Xbox as a PLATFORM.

So, I think we're seeing just two diverging market strategies and philosophies. MS is focusing on the platform. They won't need to compete with Sony generation to generation...they want to count ALL the Xbox and mobile they've sold as the Xbox platform.

So I think it's shaping up to be- if you want to play your game on multiple hardware including mobile and PC, you want the Xbox ecosystem and platform. If you want games focused to take advantage of specific console hardware, then you want Sony's ecosystem. I think that's how it breaks down in the most simple terms. Agree? Disagree?

Bottom line, Xbox fans got shown some really cool games that I think they'll be very happy with. Halo looked great...ALL of them looked good. Period. There was never going to be some huge visible difference in XSX games, IMHO. But they definitely look upgraded from current gen! So overall I think it was a good showcase and they DID focus solely on games so props there as well.

Good show!

Most impressive (to me)- Halo Infinite and Everwild. I mean seriously...that art style for Everwild?? Wow. I like that!

Halo RPG looked "last", had at least a nice demo ... from here on though all trailers with 1 to 3 seconds of in-engine scenes.

Best of the show:
that hot milf in the blue dress
that jump&run by steamworld guys
last 3 seconds of Avowed

If they had shown footage to
Stalker 2
that other fps game darktide
avowed

The show would have been a good 8.
Solid 6.5 out 10.

Ouch, not sure where to begin really.

Positives for me

State of decay short video looked really nice.
Everwild was Fantastic.
The song from Pysonauts 2 was amazing.
Stalker looks good
umm

The bads i really don't want to drive a nail in here
But Wtf was that halo, prehaps i was expecting something different but it looked like doom made by the team d. I saw fucking pop in. I was bored half way through the gameplay demo.

What was all this World launch shit.

Hellblade, Fable, Grim dawn, what the fuck.

This was way worse than sonys last show and i mean WAY worse. How can you fuck this up so much.
I am not even going to bother anymore this was a massive let down.

Agghh i am done with shit, beyond disappointed.

After all the bloody spin and bullshit from Microsoft this last month i was really expecting something amazing.

5/10 and that is me being nice.

Show was jam-packed with games, which was very good to see. Medium was the pick for me, Everwild art direction is stunning. Stalker was a pleasant surprise. Halo looked very smooth, but cross-gen roots were too obvious. There wasn't a ton of cross-gen stuff which was nice to see. On the flip side, the stuff which actually looked next-gen is so early in dev that they showed either CG trailer or in-engine trailer. State of Decay 3, Forza, Fable.

After the reception to their May event, I'm amazed by how little gameplay we got today. And the real kick in the nads? No HellBlade 2 trailer.
Fable, State of Decay and Forza couldve been mic drop moments if they transitioned into gameplay. But now after waiting 8 months to see hellblade 2 gameplay, i am not sure if any of this is realtime or possible next gen.

My optimism has taken a massive hit today.

I liked a lot of the games we saw, Microsoft are are offering a nice diversity of games it seems, nothing which blowed me away but I guess we'll still have to wait for a few years for developers to really push the hardware. Or maybe they're saving their big guns for later which I'm kinda skeptical about.

But the chicken will come home to roost, Microsoft and their execs constantly pushed the power narrative and buzzwords and the fans were expecting some really jaw-dropping stuff which we didn't get, there might be some sort of backlash but rightfully so.

I mean, as an Xbox Game Pass show, this was a solid 8/10.

As an Xbox Series X show, I don't even know what to think anymore. Halo legit looks like a current gen, average FPS with 4K textures poorly splattered on the ground. NOTHING else that they showed was confirmed to be running on an XSX, and most stuff was most likely "in engine" (which doesn't mean shit, if you don't even tell me what is running it) or straight up CGI.

As I said, this was good to selling you a Game Pass in the next 6-12 months. But if they were legit thinking this will convince undecided people an XSX is what they need to buy at the end of 2020, I don't even want to know what Phil is smoking.

Halo 2 e3 demo looked better than this. This was basically a small skirmish. there is nothing next gen about this. it looks dated compared to current gen games.

the fact that they took two extra months than sony and still couldnt muster up anything substantial. like not even trailers that are longer than a minute shows how unprepared they are for next gen.

future is bright though. i guess.

Shit, just have GamePass and you'll already have the entire launch lineup in your hands. Not a bad deal at all.

This is where I'm most excited with Microsoft right now. It's always amazing value in GP. But they're selling hardware too and right now it's not attractive enough on the games. The upside to this is waiting a few years to buy it the games those games will go nowhere and I can always just play stuff on PC with my Game Pass. The games will always be there so maybe waiting isn't a bad thing when I can get it cheaper.

I don't think this event is going to press Sony to do anything but continue the slow drip feed. Happy for those who enjoyed it but for me personally, it didn't do much. Looks like Sony/Nintendo/PC this gen right now for me. Probably sub to GP too. Hope we get a Switch Pro soon.

Their fans will never ever criticize MS. I would love to see it. I would love to see people who said a cross gen Halo would look better than what MS showed at e3 2018. It clearly doesnt. Will they come here and admit they were wrong? I doubt it.

Will they finally turn on Phil for underwhelming once again after talking a big game for months? Didnt he say he was feeling much better after the PS5 reveal? This is far far worse than what Sony showed. Both in terms of substance and games.

Insiders were hyping this show up and said there was going to be a mic drop moment.

I'm not going to name names, but they said the same thing before last year's E3 and the same thing happened.

Phil Spencer's biggest launch lineup ever in Xbox history is clearly due to console launch exclusives.

Man... lol.
