What will be your excuse if Halo Infinite(cross gen) looks better than any game shown at the Sony event?

Phil is making great strides at turning Xbox around for next gen and sony fans don't like it. Thats what it boils down to.

The showcase just ruined this poster's reputation........ infinitely

Exactly, Jeff Grubb even said Sony wanted to show as most games as they could actually running on the PS5

rFMc4i9.png

So yeah, even if we got some cinematic looking trailers like Horizon, Demon's Souls, Pragmata etc., it seems they were capture in real time. And a lot of them had snippets of gameplay (Spiderman MM, Returnal, Kena, etc.) or were full on gameplay trailers (like Deathloop and Ghostwire)

Just finished everything in GOT, every collectible, every color and armor etc (prior to finishing the main last mission at least). I feel so empty now, but got to watch what MS did yesterday and I might have fun by doing so, heard lots of praise for Halo :lollipop_tears_of_joy: .

For people asking where I've been. :messenger_winking:

EDIT: I'm in page 2467 :lollipop_downcast_sweat:

Welcome back Desert boy, you have been missed. :messenger_smiling_hearts:
Not by me.

24K Gold PS5 Coming Later This Year Via Truly Exquisite, Available In Extremely Limited Numbers

Kunal Patel, founder and CEO of Truly Exquisite, commented:

PS5 is arguably the most anticipated games console to ever be released and many people have been waiting years for this release. By offering a luxury limited edition PS5 for those individuals that truly want to stand out will be a popular choice.
We’ve shown some of our most exclusive clients are renderings of the PS5 and have already had customers wanting to order these even without it being released. These will be hugely popular especially due to them being limited pieces with probably no more than 100 pieces released worldwide.

Point still stands though. Microsoft showed a pretty diverse line up of first party games. You can laugh with Halo graphics, or complain about all the CGI trailers (of which we also had a lot at the Sony event with heavy hitters like Spider-Man and HZD), but don't tell me there was nothing interesting to play when they showed a diverse line-up with Forza, Fable, Avowed, Everwild, Ballan Wonderworld (is this an exclusive?), and that weird interactive Tell Me Why game.

Very diverse line-up with a lot of different types of games.

Wait so "weird interactive Tell Me Why game" is ok but people criticising games like Heavy Rain is fine?

Heyyy there you are, we missed you Bo.
I imagine that your stomach hurts, I know it can hurts the abs when laughing too much.

Glad I had my breakfast after seeing the event or I might ruin my keyboard and mouse. :lollipop_tears_of_joy: I've had some quality days with Ghost of Tsushima, one of my best games of all time. I really expected a mediocre show, but this isn't good enough to be mediocre.🤦‍♂️

The main problem with the 343 Halo games seems to be stale art direction. As an outsider, if someone had told me the Halo Infinite gameplay was from the Halo Master Chief Collection, I’d believe them. Artistically, the older worn down gun model shows intentional art design. It gives it character.

All games have graphical flaws, but the art direction makes a huge difference. Control, Ghost of Tsushima, Breath of the Wild, God of War, The Last of Us, etc. It’s not just about resolution, it’s the artists and the style. Even Doom and Doom Eternal have a clear style to them, unlike say Halo 5. I don’t get what the art direction for Halo is now. It seems roughly the same for 20 years now and feels stale.

That’s what God of War was beginning to feel like after GoW3 and Ascension, but the 2018 reboot brought a brand new art direction to the IP and revitalized the series and Kratos himself.

Sony’s big AAA games all have solid art direction, it’s not just about graphics. Like Ghost. Good looking, but the style is the coolest part. Call of Duty Modern Warfare has good graphics, but it’s the generic modern military ascetic that can be boring.

Halo needs good graphics of course, but it also feels in need of a revamp artistically.
Exactly.
Killzone 2 is a 2009 game and it aged far better than what this Halo will do.
You could find very blurry textures, you could say it was all grey, but it was a calculated use of grey and dark. Killzone 1 is also grey and artistically has just nothing to do with 2, the CGI trailer was more similar to 1 artstyle and you can already see how plastic it looks now despite having far better tech on most aspects.
Videogames are illusions, and the consoles is just the stage. Right know it seems MS lacks the illusionist.

Yeah I can understand that I was hoping at least 3 or 4 things to be good and .... besides Avowed which barely showed anything it was such a let down.

Are we getting something from Sony this friday?

I have to say that the Xbox event was so uninteresting for me that after a while I just stopped watching.
The next gen is all about Playstation (again) for me. Unless something universe shattering happens.

I really feel the “gamer community” could do with something to cleanse the stench of failure hanging around.

Sony could really pep everyone up with some new news even if they don’t need to. It’d be a charitable gesture to get us out of this pit we’re now in.

Come on Sony, throw us a little lifeline!

im confused with "console launch exclusive"?? doesnt that also mean timed exclsuive? a great ad for game pass...

I think that’s a new term MS have invented to say it’s coming to their “console” before any other console.

But specifically saying launch exclusive rather than exclusive, to me implies it’s a short term exclusivity deal. 3 months, 6 months. Something like that.

I think if it was getting on to a year of exclusivity they’d have just said it’s exclusive to Xbox at this stage, and let the news out it’s timed exclusive a bit further down the line.

I just remembered OsirisBlack ...

"MS is killing it with the exclusives."

"MS will have a much better launch line-up than Sony."

He also said, essentially that, because of relying on a terrible metric (Teraflops), that Sony would be in a “shit position this gen” whilst trying to play catch up to a 12TF box, Nevermind the immense talent Sony has groomed and cultivated over the decades. I’ve absolutely nothing against him so I prefer to go after his thinking/arguments but his comments or rationale have aged so badly. I think It began with the UE5 demo. Where is SonGoku SonGoku ?

I mean it’s no biggie but it’s intellectually stimulating to think about how so many seemed to have called it a “loss” due to 10.28 vs 12. Just unfortunate as hell.

Aaron Greenberg and Phil Spencer should just release gamepass on PS5 to make a profit.

That is coming. The economics of it make sense for MS.

If Xsex bombs - which from the perspective of 24 July 2020 seems entirely possible - MS will ditch the hardware and just make gamepass a service to try and sell on PlayStation.

I think the problem they’ll have is convincing Sony to take it at this stage. After all Sony will be concerned it will cannibalise sales of their first party stuff and draw them into offering a similar “race to the bottom” service.

But ultimately, if MS basically become a 3rd party game producer then those games will find their way onto PlayStation eventually.

There’s no point MS locking themselves out of 100m + potential subscribers if their own hardware isn’t shifting units for them.

These Xbox promises keep getting more disingenuous by the minute. Apparently now wether first parties support Xbox one or not is up to the developers. Which is the way they should’ve gone from the get go, but completely against what theyve been saying as recently as last week. what a way to build consumer trust

Extremely similar to the 60fps “standard” promise over which they immediately backpedaled

Yeha me too. Really loving GoT. Working on the plat now.

Watching that MS stuff with GoT running was really weird. I did feel a little bit “unsettled” watching the next Halo, then looking back to Tsushima. Seemed like I was watching an MS presentation rerun from 15 years ago!

Right, after a very good night of sleep, i think it was the meme's, its time for me to reflect abit.

Just some personal thoughts here.

I think Microsoft have some serious issues, the quality of that demo from Halo, all that pop in, the meme's that have come out. Everywhere i turn now i see that fucking Green Monkey thing, its really funny but it is really sad too.

for Microsoft to release their flagship game in that state, i am sorry someone needs to Go. It is just unacceptable.

Besides extremists, who wants to buy an xbox based on that show last night.
Microsoft needs to replace that studio.

After such hype + pr + fanboy bullshit that show was an utter trainwreck. I am sorry they have blown it.

Microsoft need to come in now with a price much lower than ps5, they need to undercut Ps5 by 50 bucks. Why would anyone who likes fantastic games want to choose Ms over Sony.

The dealer pod cast last night was giving it eights and nines, but you would not of know it from there voices, sounded more like a funeral than anything else.

I don't think sony Execs could of believed what they saw last night, honestly, that board room of theirs must have been out of control with laughter.

Microsoft are all noise, pr + bullshit.

And i am afraid this is only going to get worse.

Where is the new god of war, uncharted, new spiderman, i am going to stop here. Its already a fucking slaughter.

Shame on you Microsoft for doing this to your fans.
fucking shameful.

all the fucking spin, what a load of bullshit.

Crossfire X had small print - the single player would not be on gamepass and the multiplayer is free to play but will need a gold live for online.

Sooo I’m wondering how many of those 3rd party exclusives won’t actually be gamepass or will be compromised to encourage purchase of the full game.

MS didn’t give much “small print” detail in this.

Watching the alanah video she confirmed halo infinite has 4 way local split screen.
So, not only is this a 4K 60fps open world cross gen game that has to be optimized for 4 different platforms, but it also needs to be able to run 4 separate instances of the same world, on every level. The game sounds like absolute hell to develop for, we’re lucky it looks as good as it does

if someone is not planning to buy xbsex and never consider buying into ms ecosystem, then I can see how none of these games would interest someone, same situation for Xbox users that don’t plan to buy into Sony ecosystem, for these users none of the Sony exclusives will be interesting.

Halo Infinite is an insult to next gen gaming, and exposes the lies that it had a $500 million budget!

Yep building hype may pay off if your game is up to the bar ....But they've only been talking about power and mic drops after mic drops...
It felt more like ball dropped after ball dropped.
They need to manage their studio sometimes let them loose and sometimes try to push them to do better. With 343 they seriously need to intervene.
And I would like to understand one thing they barely released anything in the last 2 years, bought studios, create a new studio and all that just for that ?Beside Obsidian that has been working hard what are they doing?

its almost like game pass is xbox's life support to keep the flow going until they can make a comeback. i still believe they can but holy shit its gonna be a painful dick twisting comeback.

i find it hard to understand the time i bought my xbox 360 elite with halo 3 and modern warfare 2 were the best moments i ever had. the games are no longer there anymore, or more like the "charm" and talent from the developers is gone.

There are still some people saying that older hardware will not 'hold back' the XSX, and that the games will all be "Scalable" for XSX. I hate that word in this context. SCALABLE.

They are missing the freaking point!

By held back, we mean games will be designed around the restrictions of the old hardware.

Sure, on XSX you will get better lighting, better resolution, better textures; BUT the game won't suddenly change its core. Games will still need to be designed with slow loading in mind. They will still be limited in scope in how big they can get. If you can only see 1 mile in XBO, then the XSX won't suddenly allow you to see 10 miles ahead even if it could.

What is the point of being able to have 10times the per pixel fidelity (as per 343s claims), when you can't even use it because it would cause older systems to run like a pile a shite and you have no choice but to support it.

Sony's mentality of "New gen means new gen" is exactly the right mentality to have. Give your developers the tools and let them run wild instead of giving them the tools and then adding a pile of dung and saying they need to use that as well.

Yesterday's event was as expected.

MS prefers the ecosystem be Xbox + Windows 10 and thus Game Pass is a good incentive to get into both easily. Their complete lack of console sales for Xbox One led to discontinuing the console and this will lead to decreasing costs, it is mostly likely that the sales aren't breaking even for them enough to keep manufacturing the console. So focusing on XSX + Windows 10 was the smart decision (whether fanboys liked it or not).
In fact early on when they were planning the original Xbox, MS wanted to penetrate the living room market as back then Sony was taking over with its consumer electronics.

What did sony show then? What game that they will release this year looks like true nextgen? What gameplay did they show?
There wasn't anything from first party that proved your point.

Good grief that is just sad Toad, that sounds absolutely terrible and I even pray it never happens....for Xbox as a brand, as a console division, to die. Very rational analysis though....I just hope that never happens. That would some terribly sad shit as I want Sony to have serious competition or at least the potential to have competition.

Anyone here (as a speculative exercise) believe that either MS needs to reshuffle the deck of personnel or that perhaps Spence just needs to change up the strategy, etc?
