they dropping there best case numbers , upgrade to 4k yes some games not AAA ones, 1440p 120fps again best scenarion , not for most games. they allways show their best numbers , everybody doing that. it doesnt mean much though, unless real numbers fro real games will show up.

but again for that price , lets say to choose not to buy new PC or upgrade PC but just go with this its super cheap to play all PC /xbox games that will come out . no pc for that price could do that.

Hows that ps4 pro “4k” going?

PS: That was BS too. Don't worry I'm not letting Sony off the hook either. ;)

Looks like a socialist era loudspeaker from schools and subways.

Our western brethren wouldn't know this, of course.

Turning it on will probably summon it's user to the principals office.

At best you'll be playing your digital Xbox One games at 1440p upscaled to 4k.

You're not rendering next gen games at 1440p.

Obviously a good amount of you don't want to hear that, but that's factually what's going to happen. A 4k game on Series X will, at best, render at 1080p with roughly equal settings. If the Series S is rendering at 1440p GUARANTEED the settings are lower than the Series X.

Edit - That doesn't include indie games that aren't visually impressive to begin with.

i know you're trying to be funny but it's basically just a cheaper Series X. Only difference seem to be a 512GB drive vs 1TB and it targets 1440p instead of 2160p.

Funny?

Is the series X the new console or the "PS pro" of Xbox?

Whoever dreamt up this branding needs put to death. It is doing them no favours.

Its not a lot if you are one of those people that has to have 30 games installed at any one time. 500gb will probably be enough for 4 or 5 AAA games, 4 or 5 AA games, and a bunch of Indies, at the same time.
Or 1 COD game :messenger_beaming:
Or maybe, god forbid, they will get smart ass on two fronts:

1) Not replicating assets will lead to drastic size reduction
2) Having separate installation package with lower ersolution assets for slower console,

I can't believe it's real...

I don't get it. Is this aimed at fence sitters?

I would like to see MS publish sales by each console. The ratio of S:X will be interesting.

Yeah i'm sure Microsoft planned to have some no name twitter user leak their trailer after they just announce it themselves
Neither him nor Jez Corden(who leaked the price) are "no names". Walking Cat leaks Microsoft stuff all the time.

These leaks were intentional from Microsoft.

imagine difference is they would show in trailer xbox biggest games and how they will run on this console, lets say F7 , Horizon 4, Gears. just give us proofs, numbers.

This is BS.
Next-gen performance??
And over 100 high quality games on gamepass??
Games up to 120 fps (just for the hdmi specification)??

They are in some kind of alternate reality i see.

Solid package, will go well having a unique look and price point as well as game pass out of the gate. So many 1080p TVs in homes and families with multiple gamers e.g. GP ultimate goes well for getting more games on xbox and PC.

Great price point. Well done Xbox.

Are you wanting it printed in your 4head or something?

1440p & Up to 120fps... I’m sold. Got an external I can use to hold other games if I need to transfer but I play one at time so I won’t even need it.

This thing will sell and is impressive. Anyone mocking it or laughing at it are in for a rude awakening when this small box smashes expectations.

Funny though, where are all the mouth foaming idiots that claimed that they shouldn’t go for 4K but focus on 1080? Well, here you go, a 120fps 1440p box.

my interest in Xbox was dying, until this.
I hope you aren't genuine about thinking this is a "120fps 1440p box" unless you only plan on playing Rocket League.

They already announced and showed the console

Why use a no name insider (yes he's a no name, only you hardcore xbox guys will even know about him) to reveal your trailer?

Since I'm a multiplatform gamer with priorities of playing all multiplatform games on PC( including MS games)this console intrigues me for the odd B/C title from the XBox or 360 that can't be played anywhere else. If MS improves the experience of backwards compatibility, and gives us even more games from the XBox and 360 era then I'm sold on this.

Why does it matter to you who leaks it? It will spread all over the internet like it is doing now anyway. People like Walking Cat know these stuffs because Microsoft allows them to. Leakers are not some secret agents hacking Microsoft HQ.

So what are we realistically missing out on (in terms of game quality/performance) if we got this instead of the X?

Well yes actually I do plan on playing Rocket League (@120 1440p :messenger_beaming: . I still play Zelda OOT on an old N64 just because...

Quite weird to call yourself a gamer or a person who enjoys gaming but actively hate on games just because they are older and not NeXt GeN.

512gb is pretty pathetic...how much of that is actually available??? At least it's pretty cheap but I can see CoD taking up half of the storage....

Strange... so they released a "pro" at the same time basically?

The low price is nice, but who wants to upgrade to next gen in a half step?

if you are still rocking a 1080p TV or have a 1080p/1440p PC Monitor, then this system will be perfect for you.

you will most likely not see a huge difference on your screen between the SX and the SS

also people who want it for their kids and people who might want a second console for a different room.

that's the target market right there... that and people who just want next gen as cheap as possible.

How can Ps5 be so weak and may have to settle for 1080p-1440p 120fps lol but this is a 1440p 120fps console😂. Let’s see them spin this one
you know, rdna3 has its caveats

If you own an XB1 or a PS4, the XSS will be an absolutely massive upgrade. If you're sporting the X1X or PS4P, it'll be a slightly less massive upgrade.
don't know about that yet. strong cpu and ssd, along with better gfx performance than xbox x could prove to be a substantial upgrade even from xbone x

Something I just noticed about the XSS though, with the emphasis on 1440p 120hz... does that mean it's not really HDMI 2.1 (40 Gbps)? So that's another cost-cutting measure? Not a big deal mind you but would be worth knowing.

From customer perspective:
It is much cheaper.
It is also pretty small, it is imaginable that people who travel a lot would take it with them.

From MS perspective:
It pushes "digital future" in non-evil ways. (cheaper to distribute games, no need to pay shops, no re-selling/buying used games either)
Allows it to put $499 price on their bigger console without fearing it's too expensive (people who find it expensive, likely have lower resolution screens and will be just fine with S)

I think the emphasis on those numbers is for the console power capability. Anyway, since it leaked, I think we will learn more details soon.
I am interested on number of CUs and bandwidth particularly

If people haven't figured it out by now they make it explicit - they will rely on VRS to be their DLSS-like solution.

Of course, it's all non-sense. This is not a 1440p console, it's a 1080p one at best, but they're gonna hide through so many layers of obfuscation that 99.9% of people won't know to dispute it ("up to", "Dynamic res", "VRS" etc).

When Joe Public buys one of these and discovers it can’t play games at 4K...

Oh boy.

I've no reply to this that would make sense. So i'm just going to see how it plays out.

I want to see what next-gen games look like running on this thing. Cheap is fine, poor performance (relatively) is not.

If this had an disk drive for just $50 extra I'd be all over this as a BC machine. Wouldn't even need to be blu-ray, just DVD so I could play Xbox and 360 games. Big shame it doesn't.

worse part is the SSD only 512gb yikes

hope the ssd cards are cheap or better yet have some sort of software cold storage solution baked in.
I forget where it was said, but they did say an external HD can be used to play back compat games off of directly, or store Series X games in bulk storage.
