Dude its ok that you were wrong. Flight Sim and Gears Tactics are PC games. (And so are all Microsoft games now.)

Cheer up. PlayStation 5 is coming!
Gears Tacticts will be on X at launch.
Flight sim 2020 is coming soon.
And they are "microsoft first party games", if you are struggling to find what they are.

Average gamer is an adult in his 30s these stats have been cemented for quite some time. Gaming isn't a kiddie thing at all. Adults game the most avg being around 35. I myself am 39 and have been gaming all my life, my son is in his teens and I've gamed with him since his childhood. He is on point with all things gaming rekated because of me lol

I'm almost 50 and I play since 12 (atari 2600) . My kids are true gamers, like diamond on overwatch :)

I mean as long as the developers have access to console hardware I don't see why it should be a problem. The hardware in these consoles is a little bit different than what you get in a PC. You can't just copy and paste a game over without running into some issues. That's basically the main concern of not making games with dev kits.

With that said I'm pretty sure the big names in development have dev kits. It's only the smaller developers that probably have issues getting them.

Well I'll give you the I/O complex but the geometry engine is also in the XSX and XSS.

The big difference is PS5 Geometry Engine is custom and fully programmable. XSX geometry engine is fixed function (standart RDNA/RDNA2). Also GE of PS5 is 20% faster.

No I said the Playstation division is dominated by Americans and Europeans and has been for a long time.

Has it really? Or are you just saying this because the only people you see representing Sony in the West are Western people? SIE has three corporate HQ, with the main one being in California. And while Americans and Europeans make up a healthy amount of executives in two of the three HQ, to say that they 'dominate' is wrong. Sony are a global company, of course there's going to be a wide range of nationalities. It's a healthy mix.
And in the broader Sony Corporation, there are far more Japanese people, because... and this really shouldn't need stressing at this point... it's a Japanese company.
You've tried to make out that my comment about Sony applying Japanese values and attitudes towards their console production and relationships with the media was in error. It isn't. Sony is still Japanese owned and run, and Playstation is owned by the Japanese.

I'll put this here for me to maybe quote later:

As much as I love Sony and I'm probably going to preorder a PS5, I dont expect any bombshells from this. Some more Ratchet, GT7 and some Spiderman, maybe DS and HZD. A little bit of CoD here and other 3rd party stuff there.
I dont think they've been holding AAA games back. I dont think any major yet unannounced exclusive (first party) will release in the first year of PS5. I really dont believe any rumors at this point.

That is the mindset with which I will go into this and honestly I would recommend the same here to a lot of people. Too many are setting themselves up for disappointment. I think what Sony has shown so far is enough to warrant a purchase from me personally. I also want to play some current gen stuff on the PS5, just for better loading times and 60 fps like Cyberpunk and Mafia Remake. That plus Spiderman is already enough for the rest of the year.

So yeah, calm your tits, check your expectations and dont let your hype control your happiness :).

Advantage in computing performance is easy to proof. Sony still has to proof how I/O advantage relates. Personally, I believe that it's absolutely oversized, given the fact, that there is no single scenario where you can really take advantage over Microsoft's slower I/O solution. 4.8 GB/s is a hell amount of data. However, it will take until end 2021 before we see first next gen engines in action. Until then, we have to wait. My guess is still, that PS5 I/O is designed with mid-gen refresh in mind. I'm more worried about Microsoft game management. They are obviously in trouble. Although I am convinced that exclusive games are not everything ... they are part of the platforms it. The situation at Microsoft Studios is rather weak at the moment.
Dreams is a next gen engine from what I can see. Needs next gen power

Not the same groundhog day shit again today, please.
x has ~45% more compute units and ~25% bandwidth over ps5. and a fixed performance on that gap.
that ain't changing no matter what.
there is a reason that sony does not want to do a hardware stripdown, and the sooner you get to grips with it, the better.
Why does clock speed never factor into these calculations. The key factor here is clock speed, you can have 100% more compute hardware but at what clock speed are they running at. This is what defines the theoretical compute power. As does how much cache bandwidth you have as well.

There is a reason Sony has not done a hardware strip down and it is for the same reason they didn't do it for PS4 either. Because those hardware were mostly the creation of AMD.

IBM and Toshiba presented the Cell at Hot Chips

Sony talked about PS2 at Hot Chips

They presented the PSP at Hotchips

You like to say a lot of things but you haven't a clue what you are talking about.

I never said that it is ...incapable :messenger_tears_of_joy: . my only objection is to those trying to make it like its equal or better to x.
I have some reservations for the build quality, given sony's recent past.
but both machines, actually all four machines S included, are a big step up from what you have here and now.
I think that Sony has been smart to bet more on ssd customization because it is very likely that we have mid-generation consoles, Microsoft with the S begins the journey with the anchor cast and practically without the possibility of getting it on board ...

Playstation has always been a heavily Western-focused division, even during the Kutaragi days. It's the same for several Sony divisions, which is why they've been so successful in US/EU. But anyway, all this is beside the point. This strict anti-leak stance hasn't always been successful, pretty much everything about the PS4 leaked beforehand, bar the RAM. Entire E3 shows have leaked before, the ending of TLoU2 leaked months before it released. Leaks happen. You can take measures to combat them as much as you like but they'll still happen because that's the nature of large creative business. It seems that Sony have managed to avoid PS5 leaks by basically not telling anyone in the media anything lol, that will change as they begin to brief the media.

In pretty sure that's what happened. But leaking the price that early is weird though.

But what if they know the price of the Ps5? Wouldn't you want to get the price of your budget console out there before that? And why did they trumpet the Series S price so much and not talk much about the Series X price? Almost as if they know the Ps5 isn't going to be any more expensive...

Both of you are right however there is no denying the West influence, in 2016 Playstation "global" headquarters was moved from Japan to California and present CEO isn't Japanese. I do believe of course the fundamental Japanese culture and Board are what continue to help shape Sony's strategy. A more synergistic culture as opposed to what I see as Microsofts disadvantage as being wholly western focused and doing things based off that paradigm.

Oooh I see... MS got wind Sony was doing this next week and Phil told his media troll army to “leak” the info.

More than that. They lost the chicken battle. They tried to wait it out. Didn't work. They got forced to go first. Ps5 hype is too high. Those ign polls are hurting them. It was a controlled leak. Otherwise they would of just announced their show for the week. They had too much ready to go material to be a leak. I think they bit on the playstation 25th anniversary date rumor. And looked to upstage Sony. But Sony made no moves. The celebrations happened on zoom calls and some offices.
