I have zero doubt that Sony will now accelerate their acquisition plans and it’s going to hurt gamers in the long run.

I have been wondering for a long time now, why Nintendo hasn’t used their cash reserves to start purchasing developers. It seems as if they’re going to be hurt the most by this, unless they partner with Microsoft and Sony for Gamepass/PSNOW.

I have to say that despite the fact that i enjoy some of bethesda’s games, i dont LOVE them. Maybe only DOOM. Most of them are buggy and all of the are fps shooters.

Yes, i d like them to be on PS5 but i strongly prefer FF, Dark Souls, Uncharted, God of War, Tsushima etc.
I also tend to like more games created by japanese developers in relation to american ones, so while it annoys me it wont change my decision to buy a PS5.
For what its worth, i think MS made a wrong move buying a developer which created almost exclusively FPS games. MS already had Halo and Gears of Wars. Even Fable will be first person.
In my humble opinion they had to buy studios that create more artistic games (LBP, Sackboy etc) or a Wipeout contender or 3rd person game contender (for Uncharted, God of War etc) or even a studio that makes Jrpgs.

I understand they need to increase their market share but to me it feels cheap, buying an established 30 year old studio, essentially buying their way in.

I hope next gen will not be an e-penis demonstration for who has the most billions

I can't stomach Phil. He is the ultimate corporate douche.

Still, I am enjoying seeing PS fans desperately hoping Fallout and Elder Scrolls will be coming to PS5. The anger, sadness and uncertainty is palpable.
I don't know the guy, he may be. But he is also a real gamer. Dude is always online playing and regular puts up over a 1000 gamer score per month. I'm glad Xbox has a real gamer as its head.

This is a war, when you hear an explosive it's very normal that you think the enemy did it.

So you're thinking many console warriors don't even care about the history of this stuff. It's just the latest fight in their console war talking points?

Sony was also in talks of acquiring zenimax. If the company is for sale and taking bids, I don't see how it's cheap of MS to place the highest bid.

I'm not trying to be political at all, but Phil reminds me of Donald Trump in the way he is entertaining just to watch. The unusual manner of presentation and speaking, I just get a kick out of.

More marketing drivel. Phil is great with his actions, but when talks it just feels super cringe 99% of the time. Mark Cerny is always dropping technical megatons.

Why the hell would Nintendo by hurt by this?

I mean, FFS, Microsoft and Nintendo still have a pretty friendly relationship, and if gamers want Switch ports, I wager Microsoft will still let them come. Yes, Nintendo needs to open up the purse strings a bit and invest (especially since their development has been a little lackluster for the Switch--they're still trading somewhat on WiiU ports). But Sony is the only company that will be truly boned by this.

Now, if Microsoft really wanted to pour salt on the wound, they could announce that Minecraft won't be ported to the PS5...*that* would rustle a few jimmies.

Yes because Sony did not try to content starve Microsoft by going to every major third party to money hat exclusives. This is a response don't bring a knife to a tank fight. Sony started this period.
Nope not really. MS started this when they bought all those studios years ago

They don't like agressive adquisitions for fear of losing talent and only left with expensive but useless assets, Nintendo rather have close ties with key developers that work for them constantly even if they don't have absolute control over them

ie the recent fanboy cry for Sony to buy Konami makes no sense

They bought small financially troubled studios lol. Sony bought insomniac bigger than any Microsoft did. Double fine, compulsion games and other small studios are no threat to Sony. Only obsidian, Playground and ninja theory were of any decent size. It was needed as Microsoft was really down to 4-5 AAA studios after the board cut budgets after Don's failure. Of those 2 are rare and 343 so needed bodies for content.

Getting the whole publisher and all their games seems illegal for all Switch, PLAYSTATION and PSVR owners who bought their games. They will probably keep some of them exclusive to Xbox now.

Who is anti-consumer now after Spiderman DLC, Final Fantasy etc?

Good news for me since I always get a Xbox and I have gamepass until 2021 but this is criminal behavior.

343i will be in charge of leading zenimax ips to new horizons. Starting with The crossover Craig infinite vs Doom Marine. On an epic journey. :messenger_beaming:

I haven't really kept up, how long has the moneyhatting situation been going on? Cause I think it's more likely that Sony has been scrambling to sign all these deals specifically to preempt this big acquisition. Microsoft and Zenimax have supposedly been in talks since 2018 and there's no way that Sony's been unaware of it.

Everyone has been after this deal Microsoft just finally was desperate enough to give the asking price after halo showing. Sony was there to trying to get them also just not desperate to over pay. Let's say Craig was the driver of this.

With money hats costing a billion for Microsoft it made sense to buy the whole cow.

It’s smart and I mean it is all true and as a person who playing mainly on PlayStation i’m glad of what Phill have done to turn things around. Xbox One marketing, messaging and the product first days were a disaster for the division.
