And like that☝a new narrative is born

No good xbox news goes unpunished

You can't deny that Tod Howard and Bethesda did some pretty crappy things in the past. I really can't say the same for ID software though.

I guess for me the worst offense is the crappy Bethesda engine and Fallout 76. I did enjoy other games from Bethesda like Skyrim but that engine was a pain to deal with.

On the other hand with ID software I never had an issue. Plus what they did with the Doom Reboot was amazing. I never really liked Rage though. I almost forgot that I liked Wolfenstein quite a bit as well.

I've got him and Shark dude on ignore, have done so for a while now and it's so peaceful.

I recommend others doing the same as well.

hehe

Even when he is the back seat I still know he's there.

It's really creepy at times because sometimes I feel the thread is haunted.

I think you're missing where MS is going with this "Xbox as a platform" strategy. Their goal, as Microsoft does in it's other arenas, is to make 'XBOX GAMES' available everywhere. They want to become the Windows of video games. You don't do that by being restricted in platforms. 'Embrace and extend' is what they called it in the software market. Telling you, Microsoft is done with hardware if this generation doesn't turn out to be VERY successful for them.

I think this is more boost for my earlier contention that MS was going to get out of video games, then changed their minds. That's why they started buying developers again after getting rid of a ton. That's why they're 2 or more years behind in producing XSX titles from those developers. But they want their games EVERYWHERE. I really think that unless XSX and XSS seriously outperform what the Xbox One did, MS won't make hardware anymore but will focus on the games.

Then why not bring Halo to ps5? You are wishful thinking if you dont believe future ES and Starfield are xbox exclusive. “Everywhere” to them means gamepass and PC. They dont need people to buy their games on ps5 to reach ps5 owners, they can get them on xcloud.

Exclusives like these could pull ps5 owners via an xbox console or through xcloud, either way way MS makes money

Seems the exact opposite to me. MS doesn't really need the Switch or PS user base if they can get GP to click on PC and Mobile. Even if you figure PS and Nintendo for 250m users, which is high, that is peanuts in the grand scheme of things. MS bought Zeni to boost their ecosystem. There is no need to exit the console space even if you are a distant third so long as you are turning a profit. If MS continues to do a good job spreading around R&D costs, that doesn't seem like it will be an issue IMO. Real business isn't a winner-takes-all sport, you don't need to be #1.

it's ok, most people are in shock and denial right now. I believe the following days many will come to their senses*

Yep, what you said is very possible. I'm just looking at software...Microsoft's main business. What did they do with their OS? What did they do with Office? So I'm speculating that LONG TERM that's where they want to go. Again, note I said LONG TERM. Some people seem to take any statement about Microsoft as an attack. Kinda silly. So why not Halo? Because it's been in development for what...4 years already? It's already in progress and also is SHORT TERM. I'm talking what I think they might do in the longer term based on you...know...the rest of their business. CRAZY idea, I know...to think a company has a master strategy that's worked for it in the past in multiple areas of tech, might do the same thing in yet ANOTHER area.

If any company would try to do it (and SUCCEED at doing it to boot!), it would probably be Microsoft. ;)

I share exactly the same Idea. I actually Saw this as a good thing, as Crazy as this might sound to some. The fact that I AM notn a fan of those franchises help.

Hopefully Sony has something big in their pocket to counter.

If Sony is willing to put big titles up on PS Plus after acquisitions then maybe it’s something but otherwise buying up studios is mostly just playing into denial of content wars with no benefit to consumers overall.

It's almost funny how Microsoft manages to perfectly dodge doing anything I'm interested in these theys.

This acquisition is huge of course but Bethesda hasn't made a game I really cared for in the last 10 years.
Now if they were to get Capcom or konami's IP's then I could have my mind really blown.

Xbox still has no game. Unless You think You can produce a game in one week on a platform that IS sturggling with Craig and having Ray Tracing day one.

Grubb is an idiot, buying existing multiplatform games doesn't make your portfolio deeper, they were getting these games anyway lol and let's be real the two big hitters from Bethesda won't be out for 2-4 years.

There might be an obvious answer to some but do you guys think we'll see a next-gen patch for Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, which will include a 4K at 60 FPS?

The game is stunning on both a visual and technical level, I can only imagine how it will look locked at 60 FPS with a really high resolution.

I wish, I hope. But I doubt they will. Probably not worth the time.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

war of attrition you say?

Good grief. IF it's even real....I don't know why you'd be proud enough to post video online of yourself behaving like a badly adjusted two year old. It's...entertaining though...I guess!

Man...people getting WAAAAAY too invested in their plastic toy. Just wait for the freakouts when people don't get their hardware delivered on November 10th and 12th because of widespread rioting affecting package deliveries! THAT ought to be almost as entertaining as watching the inevitable 'Black Friday' crowd fighting videos! :)

I find it hard to think MS will just lock PS users out of these games, 7,5 billion is too much to get back just from Gamepass subscriptions. MS bought Mohjang for much less and kept Minecraft multiplatform, albeit with perks for Xbox users.

I could understand exclusivity for new IPs, but these known franchises make too much money to be ignored.

If Sony is looking to purchase anyone Capcom sure as hell would be a good purchase since they've been on fire this gen. Monster Hunter by itself would be huge for them and general mainstream appeal. From Software seems like a very natural pick if they were willing considering their relationship. Stake in SquareEnix. Bluepoint, Kojima Productions, Housemarque all seem smart. Housemarque I believe is in financial trouble so they might need something like this.

No point in buying these unless they are exclusive to push gamepass and series consoles. Sony spent a lot of money on spiderman but that is never going to Microsoft and probably PC. Minecraft was long ago and more a service game. The stages of grief suck.

Geeze, it's as if they believe this acquisition just won XBOX the console war and turned the clock back to the late '00's. XD
No one outside the fringe believe that. This just saved the launch and gets the fan base excited enough while they make some other moves for content before the new studios start producing. This just kept Sony from steamrolling to 85% market share.
