Maybe , but Europe is a "Playstation land" because the games was for the people of that side. I saw many games that don't come to america.
But the preorders were for a sistem that nobody knows the UI, the price for a new SSD, even how BC with PS4 works. Was just hype and desesperation of the fan base.
In the interview where he said to believe in generations he never said they weren't going to avoid crossgen games. He said they were going to support PS4 for years because there's a huge active userbase there and most people won't jump to PS5 in the first year or so. He also said that wanted next gen consoles to have meaningful new features and to see the next gen games taking advantage of them (super fast SSD, 3D audio and DualSense).

What's wrong with allowing PS4 players to play the new game and to give them a PS5 version free update? Or allowing the owners of the PS4 original game to play it for free with BC boost mode improvements? Or to include an optional extra of $20 to the new game for a full remaster of the previous game, its 3 DLCs, 3 new costumes and extra photo mode features?

Ps4 is still a valid console despite the ps5 being introduced. Millions of subscribers, a huge install base, some won't or cannot afford to upgrade to a new console. The ps5 only games, the ones the Ps4 just couldn't do, are probably already in the pipeline. Another couple of years of ps4 before it declines proper.. At least here.
I agree, and for that point you can't say "We believe in generations" instead say " Don't worry some of the hits of PS still coming for PS4 like MM and Horizon". Like a CEO you have to be clear and not say one thing and the other day say other thing about the same theme.

They actually can and have done so every generation. It usually helps drive sales of the new system so third parties start doing next gen games too.
dont get me wrong my gears of war avatar friend,but i dont see a thread of how good and mesianic jim ryan is every day,its the xbox fan base who is in some sort or cultist love with phil spencer
you forgot that spencer have a record of saying similar things ,and do the contrary? like "we believe on no exclusivity for next gen"
