Yeah, now we know why the PS5 has this horrible design.

The rumours were true. Sony got too confident and had to make some last minute decisions.

Overheating was such a big problem they had to put two fans(one on each side) to make it work.

The problem? You're forced to place the console in a vertical position, otherwise one fan will get blocked.

Their solution? Add one curved plate on each side to prevent the user from placing it horizontally so one fan doesn't get blocked.

The problem? The PS5 is too tall, it might fall or some people might want to use it horizontally due to lack of space.

Their solution? Force the user to use a stand, which is included with the PS5. Plus, add a hook because otherwise the thing will keep wobbling all the time.

Sony shot themselves in the foot this gen.

So EB Games Australia is sold ou of PS5 pre orders until 2022 they've had to stop taking pre orders at this stage but Xbox Series S consoles are still available to order

the Xbox series S and X are sold out at EB Games Australia.

Xbox Series S Console - POST Launch Shipments

looks like MS will give them new shipments, whereas Sony does not, otherwise they would offer them new allocations.
btw same happening in Germany. Some huge Retailers only got a few units allocated and won’t get any more units at all. There will also not be able to sell them in the store for walk ins.

The staff member I talked to at the Sunnybank store here in Brisbane said the series S were available to order

I know you are joking, but I still find the stand a little bit weird. It’s weird that you need it for both positions. Has this been the case for any other console in history?
And did Sony say anything if we can use the ps5 without the stand or not?

Series S still plenty around aus retailers but no actual launch days ones
Series x is sold out everywhere and you cant even pre-order for post launch so i dont like peoples chances of getting one before xmas

XSS is still there. Just checked it.

yes, available to order. But won’t receive it at launch.
So as I said the first shipment is sold out completely and you won’t get it at launch, but MS will send them more units after launch, so they can sell more units.
For PS5 on the other hand Sony will not send them anymore units, so they can’t take more preorders.

The bandwidth is not the main bottleneck. I doubt many XBX games are bottlenecked by the generous bandwidth. The main bottleneck is the wide GPU design. The clocks only got a 56% increase and we know (from years of bench on GPUs) that performance doesn't scale linearly with the number of CUs.

Performance general don't scale linearly with any single factor. We do however have an idea that depend on the game engine that games scale better with cu's than clock speeds in typical rendering tasks. Just need to look at some of the DF tests.

Wait a second...... So you're claiming that MS will send more units after launch (logical) but for some reason Sony won't. Sony plans to sell NO MORE PS5's! Seriously? I think maybe you were trying to say something else, but it didn't get worded right? I'm confused.

I see what you said applying to the launch day/window allocations, but if it's true that MS allocations for launch of the Series S are sold thru then it wouldn't make any sense for MS to be sending more...when there aren't any?

Here's an idea for next gen console game developers... Make the games with a CRT option in mind, that way you can have games running at very low resolution but with maxed out RT and high consistant FPS.
😂 😋

But seriously, this is a very interesting video from DF for those that haven't seen it.

I had a 1080p 36 inch CRT, best picture I've ever seen on a tv, it also weighed over 200lbs and when in HD it went to widescreen which made it the equivalent of if I remember correctly a 33 inch 16:9 set.

I just saw a post on Beyond3D forums where Alex says essentially that they (DF/him) expect the PS5 to perform between RX 5700 (!) and RX 5700 XT in 'general' (not only RT performance). I can't say that i am suprised anymore but that's just incredible.
Should be better than that, PS5 TF count little higher, but also going from RDNA 1 to RNDA2 and what ever custom configurations they made, we won't know until consoles are out and same games can be tested all across platforms, including PC's.

Both are still available or at least still on order pages.

At Slovakia: (slovakian friend says that they are still available for launch)

Here at Finland, estimated 1.12.2020 so not on launch probably, but it tooks like 1-2 weeks before they sold all lauch units here

PS5 sold out in 30s to few minutes here, and estimates talk about 3-5 months of waiting from launch for next batches. They dont take new orders now

And S is still available for launch here.

So, at least at EU there are some places with xbox availabe for launch or within a month from launch

I don't see how the PS5 could be weaker than a 5700XT when it's on a similar (and maybe more advanced ) architecture and it's producing more teraflops than a 5700XT.
You’re right, but we should stop making comparisons of the PS5 and Series X GPU’s to the PC discreet GPU’s, what’s found in the consoles is heavily customised, it’s an apples to oranges comparison in my opinion.

But let’s play along with comparing the PS5 GPU to something like a 5700 XT, it fails to take into account the architectural improvements from RDNA 1 to RDNA 2 such as the IPC gains and performance per watt improvements, there’s many many others as well.

Isn't the S everywhere available? That's a console that will be outsold in the shop itself not from pre-orders...

The funny thing is I've seen a lot of people saying: "XSS is a really good budget console. But I'm going to buy the XSX".
I haven't seen anybody saying they are going to buy the XSS, they just praise it but they aren't buying it.

Nothing was debunked. It's still available for pre-order. Looks to me like a warrior such as yourself is trying to land poor cheap shots.

I don't need to take "poor cheap shots" in order to make him look like a warrior. Besides, I'm way past my warrioring days. It wasn't me who got a thread closed and renamed the other day, right?

2 core xbox territories there

i had to look that one up as i could of sworn they enjoy pre-ordering AK-47s instead of gaming consoles but i got it confused with another country
and finland...ill just leave this here

Edit...Nothing against these 2 countries but they dont jump out of the box at me as core xbox territories...sony have that pretty much took that over as soon as they started to get the fifa stuff

Would actually be good to know the exact number of consoles that were available for pre-order from both

Ohh but you still do. Every day in fact. You just whine while taking a cheap shot cause it paints your favored box in what you perceive is a negative light (when it's just an objective fact - nothing debunked), and report en masse while becoming a salt connoisseur for 2 weeks straight after the Bethesda deal on various threads. It's a fool errand to keep appearances. You still guessing if I'm an alt? Lmao.

Well, I don't have a 4K TV and still won't buy it. Just pointing out your logic doesn't apply to "anyone."
Yeah that's true, I forgot that a lot of the times the PS5 is also not native 4K /jk

I think you're confusing me with someone else.

Is the series X confirmed to have native 4k with raytracing? I don't think so.
We don't really know anything about next-gen games on the XSX. Although I expect more information this week.

You know, of all people in team green here, you seem to be the better one, don't go there. You can do better than this. This is too low effort for you, mate.
I should've used /jk instead of the dumb wink. It was a joke

Your guess is as good as mine: we still have to see anything from that box, and we get reports from devs that RT would be patched a few months down the line.

So yeah: who knows?
I think the only multiplats with RT that we will be able to compare at launch on both systems are Black Ops Cold War, Observer and Watch Dogs Legion.
