So NeoGaf, do you hate PC gaming as well?

Have to admit I got turned off PC gaming for a long while after MS pushed a bad driver for xbox controller that fucked me up for days trying to figure out what went wrong. As of late I have done a 180 and love it.

He’s right. The amount of times I’ve seen PC gamers fanboying it up on social media, only to eventually end up asking for tips how to fix something, is hilarious.

Even with emulators like Dolphin, years ago, when it was more unstable, it was non-stop promotion, with zero mention of how hard it was to run some games, or get them working.

But, for some people, having the best experience money can buy, whether it be new games, or old ones in image quality console gamers could only dream of, is totally worth that.

It would just be nice if people were more honest about PC gaming’s strengths and drawbacks. The ‘it’s just a better console!’ ‘Set it and forget it!’, is just so fucking misleading.

You can tell this man is that a PlayStation fanboy and nothing else, sorry to say but he’s wrong in my opinion. PC gaming is a fundamental change into the gaming industry.

I hate this person with passion for his stupid cringy review of Uncharted 3 and it pisses me off that I lost a lot of memory last year, but not this shit.

Not a fan of Greg Miller and while I don't hate PC gaming, I do agree with him that it is more trouble than what it's worth which is saying something considering the expensive nature of it if you really want a great gaming rig. But whatever, thankfully I ignore PC gaming and could care less about it than I already do but for those who love it, great for them and doesn't affect me whatsoever so overall, who cares?

Nvidia have conditioned people to think a £700 graphics card is great value.

Sure its better than it was but PC gaming use to be alot more affordable back in the day (for a decent rig).
I didn't build back in the day, but especially with deals and used parts and all that ($300 used PC's are actually pretty good), AMD is killing it and Nvidia's lower tier cards are affordable at least (1650 Ti).

I would have never learned shit about computers if I'd stuck to my NES/SNES/N64 and fanboy'd it up in here. Never used a console for work.

It's a gateway drug. PCMR hypeboiis are cringé though.

What's the point of creating a thread on the tweet of a random Sony pundit? It's not like what he said was newsworthy. It's only his own personal hot take.

PC gaming certainly isn’t seamless but the options you get are a double-edged sword. There’s always some little nuisance but how much of an impact that has is really down to the user.

I’ve been PC gaming for yonks and sometimes I just want to hold down a single button and watch everything spring to life without logging in, closing a bunch of startup windows, selecting a monitor profile, trawling through launchers, connecting a controller, and hoping it all works.

yes I am aware that I can boot into Steam big pic but most ppl don’t have the luxury of relegating their rig to solely a gaming machine.

As much as I love to tweak things and experiment with tech, I feel that, with my personality, having that many options will be a huge detriment to my enjoyment of the game.

I'm not downplaying the benefits of gaming on a PC. I'm saying that I would get so caught up in the minutiae, that I won't be able to focus on what is in front of me. I'm nearly ashamed to admit that even the console performance options are beginning to grate at the back of my mind while I'm playing. What it comes down to is, I am too focused on what I could be missing out on, than enjoying what I have. FOMO.

Here's the thing, you don't need the XX80 or XX90, not even the TIs

The XX70 series are enough to run everything if you're not going overboard.

My GTX 1070 still runs everything and, except for RT (new tech), I believe it will keep on running. You can easily use the same card for almost 2 generations, and it will usually outperfom consoles if you content with 30fps.

I like PC gaming just fine. It's not complicated like Greg suggests - if Geralt of Rivia can do it, so can he. He just sounds technically illiterate, or maybe just got really frustrated one time with a PC and never got over it.

I mean, consoles randomly have issues too. They're just computers as well at the end of the day. I lost count of how many times I got home from work, plopped down on the couch for some PS4, and it wanted to rebuild the database. Or lost its licenses and I had to go through that process to reclaim them. Or I couldn't connect to PSN even though there were no outages. Etc, etc.

Well of course emulators are a little harder. You’re essentially pirating games.

But Steam isn’t. It’s as easy as any console.

There are genre that just play better on PC because you know a mouse is a thing.

Also there are genre that are inexistant on console, strategy game.

Here is how it works: the most fun part of PC gaming is getting things to work and the moment of success when you figure it out. There is absolutely zero video game that is worth playing after that moment. Games have the same vibe but it doesnt come close.

That feeling should come from your job, and games should be a more mild, relaxed version of this. The are made for you to succeed and hand you the tools to do so, so it is different. From his perspectice he is correct, because he leads a fulfilling life and is not always chasing success in his down time.

From the perspective of a "no job" or workaholic he is wrong. There are people in this world who work 18 hours a day, except 10 of those hours are PC gaming. Are they having a more fulfilling, rewarding experience? Probably. But man, fuck that.
Maybe that's true for the so called master race, but normal people like me just enjoy playing with higher settings\framerate\resolution and doesn't give a fuck about the labour that comes first.

Your post make pc gamers looks like masochist people :lollipop_squinting:

Or maybe you were ironic, can't even tell.

Indeed. I really hope that Paradox port CKIII to the consoles at some point like they did with Stellaris, because it's just fucking too good not to be multi-platform. Everyone needs to experience the joy of infanticide and cucking your brothers/sons for the sake of Dynasty.

^Truth. The RGB Quad SLI behemoth crowd is certainly out there, but as the Steam Hardware Survey shows, most people aren't doing that thing.

PC gaming is not for the lazy.
Not really true, you can enjoy most of the good things on pc even with a very low level knowledge, i'm the living proof of this concept.

The not lazy people squeeze that 10% more with things like reshade or ini editing but most of the experience is intact even with ignorant and lazy people like me.
