I remember being perma banned there just because I stated that there were a lot of fake news towards our president... They called me fascist and perma banned me, without even letting me defend myself lol... and I`m the facist?! .-. They also called me racist, homophobic, etc, wtf!

I got banned for a week, because I used the word shekles in a post. Call me ignorant or whatever but I didn't know it had anything to do with jews and thought it was just another funny word for currency. Well my post was antisemitic apparently according to them. After that ban was done I self nuked my account out of that cesspool.

It is kinda bizarre to ask to be charged more for a company/CEO that can write off multi-million donations to get tax benefits. Some of these people have zero economic knowledge, but then again having/owning $5000 seems a lot of money for some of them...

Oh I will show em, I will boycott the game, wrote the thousand hypocrites either on or with their devices in their pockets, made by children earning cents an hour overseas. If the terrible working conditions where true, then I don‘t condone it whatsoever, as any sane person would do. But let‘s not kid ourselves in thinking the boycotting crowd wouldn’t buy it anyway and simply boasting about online how they won‘t. And if they truly stick to it, then their couple sheckels won‘t matter anyway.

I feel like it comes from a good place but maybe a small side-campaign would be a better proposition than forcing consumers to donate to causes by buying the product.
Also: everyone calls him on that lol.

Because it's not actually about helping anyone. It's all about trying to force their will on people and broadcasting the virtue for social recognition online.

Yeah, and you didn’t use it in a derogatory way. They’re low IQ robots over there. By cancelling anyone who incorporates a bit of Jewish language (whether Yiddish or Hebrew) into their speech they’re erasing the diversity of human culture.

They do it for everything. Cancel non-Africans for wearing African clothing or jewelry or hair, etc. Everything was cooler when we freely mixed cultures without being shamed for it by Twitter and Reset incels.

One time a Native American charity sent me a dreamcatcher in the mail and I hung it on my side door (everyone enters my house through the side)

Then this chick came over and got mad at me for cultural appropriation

We did not talk much after. The feeling was mutual

I have the dreamcatcher hanging in my home office now. Dreamcatchers are cool

I love the laziness involved. Charities and scholarships exist and you can personally give funds to them but apparently they’ll only support it if Sony can overcharge them when buying games with a black main character. Incredible that such virtuous people can give up so easily. I HAVE TO CLICK ON A WEBPAGE AND TYPE IN THE AMOUNT I WANT TO CONTRIBUTE??????

They're angry because they're incapable of experiencing joy or any kind of happiness. They need that circuitry in their brains firing at all times because they need their escape from the $7.25 wage flipping burgers. It's kind of sad really, they belong to the generation that was fed lies that everything would turn out fine if they just went to college and got a degree in English or in social studies. They were brought up with the idea that they're some kind of special snowflake and everything would work out. You see, the real world needs more people that can analyze the wage gap.

When trying to participate in the real world, it is nothing like their hugbox/bubble and they cry incessantly, falling back on some federal wage menial job because they have neither the skills or the real world experience to survive. So their real escape is to 'rebel' or bully people that actually did put the work in to make something out of their lives. Then the realization hits; they've been standing still for a decade with only their impotent activism on their CV. Back to REEEsetera again to open up a suicide thread.

One can only be disappointed if you are emotionally invested in something. A parent to a child. A teacher to a student. But yeah to be disappointed in a damn videogame company? That indicates and unhealthy relationship with a consumer product.

I hate their use of the word because usually they interchange it with some self flagellating “kill your heroes” crap like they are suffering for being media addicts. That they will say “companies are not our friends” and “no ethical consumption under capitalism” all while pleading and begging for sensei to notice them, it’s entirely transparent virtue signalling. And it’s pathetic.

The dregs of consumer society, truly. When your emotional state is dependent on how a company conducts marketing, you have fucked priorities.

What a strange place. They are so blinded by their illusion of inclusiveness that they fail to see how exclusive they are. It seems they only allow 'discussion' within a very narrow margin within one side of a spectrum, any opinions that fall outside will simply be silenced by banning.

The OP starts: It depicts a fetishized caricature of a trans women
For one, it's a fantasy game, but let's ignore that for sake of the argument. Is the photo depicted a caricature, or do these 'types' of trans women simply exist? Does the term drag queen come to mind? Why would a type of trans woman have to represent all trans women? If I depict a beardless businessman in a suit, does that mean this is a caricature of business men in general? You could give countless examples of this, and the answer will obviously be no.

Yeah, the "just goes to show, companies are not your friends!" which gets posted ad-nauseam in almost every fucking thread by every 2nd poster, as if it's some INCREDIBLE statement of insight, is mind-boggling to me. It's used as a catch-all statement in any discussion involving any company. It's as if they have to keep reminding themselves of that fact. Companies are not my FRIENDS? REALLY?! THANK YOU OH GREAT SAGE OF RESETERA.

At a bare minimum, I refuse to believe anyone can be disappointed in CDPR the same way fans of Star Wars, Marvel, or even a sports team can be disappointed. They haven’t been around long enough and it’s not like anyone was raised on their games.

I just can’t take their level of emotion on the subject very sincerely and it makes it all seem like it’s not about a beloved gaming company at all. It’s something popular doing something they don’t like and now they want to control it.

it would be like saying you are disappointed in the first Star Wars movie a month before seeing it. because you don't like the promotional material. it literally makes no sense. it is ANTI INTELLECTUAL.

they are not just disappointed, they are pre-disappointed. the game has not come out yet. they are disappointed in their IMAGINED FUTURE VERSIONS of what the game will be, based on the Tweets that make them angriest.

Due to social media policies at work, I lurked on here for years before being able to join, which I truly enjoy. I was really only on the outside looking in when everything went down and Resetera started up.

I just discovered how things are on that forum while looking at the CDPR thread that linked from GAF. People are saying that they still want to play Cyberpunk 2077 and are being labeled as transphobic and being permabanned. That is really extreme.

I’m really happy I chose to be a part of this forum.

What is their record? What has CD Projekt Red done that can be characterized as transphobic by any person of good faith? There is not a single piece of transphobic content in The Witcher 3 - and I would know, as I introduced a trans friend of mine to the game and he loved it. Cyberpunk is not even out yet! Are they basing this accusation on a couple of tweets by a contractor that fired shortly thereafter? It just boggles the mind.

Companies asking customers for donations seems nice until you remember they get a tax-write off on the donated money. So for them it's just another source of profit. If donations did not have tax write offs you fucking know most companies wouldn't be doing donation drives.

If Sony is honest in their support of BLM, then they can donate their own funds on their own.

I know you did not have ill intent, but referring to currency as shekels is indeed an anti-semitic, alt-right trope. That said, the fact that you misspelled it should have made clear to the mod that there was no ill intent and a warning or private nudge would have sufficed. Yet they seem to wield the ban-hammer quite liberally there.

This is a tad harsh. Not everyone on Era is poor. I'd say the average era user is wealthier than the average user of other more popular social media sites. Largely due to the email restrictions on creating new accounts. Most lower middle class/working class/poor people do not have an email address that is not outlook, gmail, hotmail, or yahoo. All of which are banned on Era.

Now many on Era consider themselves poorer than they are and love to exaggerate their struggles. On any news thread talking about American income or wealth, large chunks of posters were shocked at how poor the average American is.

One of the more memorable threads revealing their wealth privilege/blind-spot was the "Do you consider a personal income of $100,000 USD to be rich?" thread. It was filled with rich people arguing to posters making half or a quarter of what they make how hard their lives were and how they were NOT rich. The funny thing was a big study on world emissions by income groups was released a few months later and showed that if you make $100,000 USD a year you are among the richest 1% of humanity. lol

TL;DR: Poor people aren't going to rush out to buy both consoles at launch. Or own multiple consoles, or have a $2,000 gaming PC, like so many on Era do.

Trust me. I'm a poor a son of bitch with 2 jobs, working 6 days of the week. I'm regularly interacting with lower income folks and few have the same spending habits of Era. Hell I know I guy who had to sell his gaming PC, because he was low on cash.

no, it's terrible. the companies are already making money from the customer. if they want to give to charity they can take it out of the profits. they are already abusing tax loopholes to avoid helping the public. why pay them again?

anyone who gives a private company money for charity instead of going straight to charity is a mark. they are just throwing money at the CEOs.

oh yeah, i think this is why they focus so much on billionaires. they have to be the oppressed, they have to deny their privilege. "no ethical consumption under capitalism" isn't just a socialist catchphrase, it is an excuse that allows for zero self reflection for partaking gleefully in (supposedly harmful) consumerist media consumption.

funny thing is they did another poll where i think it asked people how much of their salary they were willing to give to save the world from climate change or whatever. most of the posts were "nothing. billionaires should do it".

The "no ethical consumption under capitalism" was not meant as an excuse for people to hand-wave away their part in capitalism, it was meant to be a simple slogan to describe how unethical capitalism is. How it should be dismantled for the evil system it is.

For instance the fact child & enslaved miners in the DRC are responsible for many of the rare earth minerals all electronics depend on should not be met by the average person with "no ethical consumption under capitalism" and a shrug. Instead it should be met with a call for action to get governments and comapnies to stop supporting that awful shit.

Of course any radical change might threaten the flow of cheap consumerist goods so it's understandable why many in rich countries act as if nothing can be done by them. They're addicts that don't want to admit their comfy lives depend on the suffering of others to sustain them.

At the same time you have people complaining that having/owning $5000 at one point in time "must be nice", so I really don't know what to make out of them. Are they well-earners that masquerade that they are poor, because when the communist revolution does happen they're the first ones whose houses are to be raided and sent to the gulags? Or are they truly poor because of bad choices made in life? Buying X or Y game because it's progressive doesn't help one's financial situation either.

These "poor" people actually do go out and buy a new console. They might skimp out on other stuff but in the grand scheme of things, $500 can be saved over a long period of time. The truly poor, the one's don't even have internet at home, or have to live in a motel or inlaws, that's a different story. There is a level of poor even those at REEEE can't imagine. For example, those that have to ration insuline because it's too expensive.

So poor they can't afford to buy rent their own place and have to live with their parents, but instead of saving the money they are not spending on rent they waste it all on media and lifestyle products.

The level of hypocritical consumerism is quite disgusting all over the internet not just ResetERA. Reddit for example is just people flashing stuff without context that they bought with their government cheques, or paid with from parents money, or simply not owning it at all. All so they can get some precious internet credit.

If people want to take their government checks and spend it on stupid shit who am I to complain. They get taxed, revenue is generated capitalism goes forward!

What I find fascinating with ERA is they talk a great game and then are beholden to the consumerism that they absolutely hate. Loving on that house of mouse, or whatever latest in thing is. What I have yet to understand for all the yelling and screaming about the evils of the world is that the refusal to decry the evils of the very products they have become addicted to and instead choose to shame singular companies for bad takes on social networks.

We can't have CDPR exist but we can complain about them on our iPhones built in questionable working conditions that underpay while downloading the latest Mulan movie that was filmed next to re-education camps and drinking those single cup coffees that mass produce waste.

I don't bedruge people finding happiness whereever they can. But when a simple image post of a PS4 console and a bunch of games with a name of "I just bought a PS4!" is treated with thousands of upvotes and people spending hundreds of dollars on useless reddit emotes, its says something concerning about our society.

I remember one r/PCGaming post of some rich guy showing off 20 unopened boxes of 3080 GPUs and acting super proud of his hoarding. And it got thousands of upvotes. All I can say is why? What are we celebrating?

Totally agree man.

That's why it's hilarious to me when people talk about how we are on the brink of a civil war. No, we really aren't. Not when PS5's, Iphones, and $1000 GPU's are flying off the shelves at a record pace. I enjoy my toys and frivolous stuff too but when I see people, especially online, OBSESSING over this stuff like it's really a necessity on the same level as food and water I automatically classify them as human waste. It's harsh but it is what it is.
