Can someone tell me the difference between “4K at 60fps” and “4K and 60fps”? They sound like the same thing..
They might be but it's unusual for a publisher to not just use the same wording if the performance is the same across 2 different platforms.
"At" doesn't leave any doubt about the fact that it will be 4k and 60 fps concurrently. Just a 60 fps mode at a lower resolution would satisfy the "and" however.
It's speculation until DF or a similar outlet confirms it with comparison footage.
The PUBG part seems official.

I'm not touching this generation of consoles, I'm too far gone with PC. But I still get some sick pleasure from watching the discussion.
Gonna be real interesting if the XBox is notably faster and the PS5's SSD doesn't deliver substantially faster loading. Expecting Chernobyl level meltdowns if that happens.

Don't do that.

lol, same.

Was just saying in another thread, why are folk falling over themselves in the rush to preorder while simultaneously complaining that there’s no worthwhile launch content?

Just chill and wait it out for a few months, jeez.

I think the meltdowns will occur when people realise that ssds will not necessarily translate into better graphical performance when 95% of the consoles library is 3rd party

it’s always going to fall back to the cpu/gpu for a majority of a consoles game library

and the secondary meltdowns will occur when they start cutting ray tracing from games as it’s too much of a performance hit

It depends what the intent was when they wrote it.

4k at 60 means 4k at 60fps at the same time....
4k AND 60fps could mean that the 60fps mode either drop the resolution from time to time, or it may skip a frame more or less regularly... This is a bit of a stretch, but it could explain the language difference.

I see things going the exact opposite way.

1st party exclusives are far more than 5% of the games, or maybe you're talking about Xbox only, then I agree I guess. A lot of the games that mattered last gen were 1st party or at least exclusives (Bloodborne, God of War, TLoU2, Uncharted 4... All GotY materials.)

All those 1st party titles could benefit from higher res textures due to the better SSD. If anything, it should increase the already big technical gap existing between Sony exclusives and other games.

It's possible some multiplatform games use higher res textures on PS5 too , it's not that costly, but they have no incentive to make both versions really differ, so the jury's out on that one.

Raytracing is here to stay too both on XSX and PS5, but it's not a revolution, it just adds a more realistic touch to the graphics, nothing groundbreaking until we go full RT (path tracing), which won't happen this gen obviously. RT cost in GPU power is still pretty high compared to what it brings.

Why are we here? Just to suffer?

Someone call the police, they've murdered my Series S puppy :( if the S is going to get Xbox One S versions... this isn't a good sign, 30 FPS for the game out the gate ugh, this also proves that MS isn't enforcing "no compromise at 1440p" line from the Series S reveal video.

EDIT: The OUT OF CONTEXT quote is referring to PUBG in BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY mode.

EDIT: That "XBOX NEWS" isn't a real Xbox News site, at least not 1st party it's a shitty twitter with an underscore immediately after the @ meaning it's some jank shit that's trying to piggy back looking official.

That's because PUGB is running in backwards compatibility mode. The Series S only runs One S versions via BC, whereas the Series X runs One X versions via BC. There isn't a PUBG Series S/X release.

So no, it doesn't prove your last bit at all. It proves that Xbox One games work via BC and can get free enhancements via unlocked framerates.

Well shit, thank you for explaining that out of context quote that OP posted.

These feel like grammatical distinctions that might give me a nosebleed, but does 4K and 60fps not seem closer in intention to 4K at 60fps, than 4K OR 60fps, if that's what they were trying to say?

Bah. Launch is around the corner.
"up to" is very deliberate phrasing in the gaming world. And yes, we should just wait for launch.

This is just the beginning. We all expected growing pains to start. Surprisingly, PS5 is running out of the gates. Both will get better as the generation matures

Making the distinction implies that in the 2nd case the 2 aren't simultaneous. "Yeah, it'll do 4k, and it'll do 60fps, but it isn't doing them both at the same time unless its downhill with a tailwind."

Thats not even the Ps5 edition of the game.

They are saying the Xbox One version runs great on XSX

But that the Ps4 version will run on Ps5 only slightly better. But you can get the Ps5 version, with the full next gen improvements, at no extra cost later.

I said it before unless the game got downgraded, there is no way this runs at 4k and 60 fps on a PS5. AC games are demanding as hell.

Specs-1080jpg.jpg

The console version wont be using Ultra High Preset, so 4k60 is doable if using a mix of High and V.High.
IF a 5700XT can do 1440p60 at V.High id think the XSX/PS5 GPUs would be able to carry the consoles to 4K60 with some graphical cut backs.

AC:Or and Od were using dynamic res on consoles. This one will too, no console version will be native 4K in 60FPS, mark my words.

5700XT is ~10TF GPU, you would need (more than...) 2x that to render this game in 4K with the same settings in 60FPS, consoles are just slightly better than this GPU.
