Epic : fortnite 4k at 60 on PS5(Dualsense Support) and XSX. 1080p 60 for XSS

I'll load this up one last time just to see the visual improvements. I remember it looked trash on launch but I just put that down to the 100 players and the huge map. Them epic updated it and blew me away with the graphical improvement on the ps4. Didn't think it was possible. I think they also went from 30 to 60fps but not sure.

Also looking forward to seeing warzone.

The XSX is meant to be a 1440p/1080p machine. Its made for 1080P TVs. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand for the same people who dog pile on it every time its mentioned. Nothing is going to run in 4k on it. Nothing, even if it can. We get it you think its a terrible machine...

This is exactly what next gen needs....

DYNAMIC VISUALS AND PHYSICS
Experience a more dynamic and interactive world with grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid (cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects), and all-new Storm and cloud effects

I agree there should be a 120FPS option on XSX and PS5... but I believe Epic will eventually throw it in.

Here we are !
is it 4K Native to begin with ?
If it is native 4K how could i expect Epic to push 1440p on Series S, when it cannot push Series X with 52 CU to 6K.

I don´t get the appeal of those kinds of games (MP in general) and don´t play em but i look forward to those concerts within the game like Travis Scott or J Balvin in 4k.

SELECT YOUR FAVORITE MODE FROM THE PS5 HOME SCREEN
Fortnite supports PS5’s Activities, starting with the ability to go straight into the Battle Royale Lobby with either Solo, Duos, or Squads selected. Once in the Lobby, choose to queue up for your selected mode!

one of the biggest thing about next generation for me is the instant UX features. both in the OS and the actual game. switching from Battlefield->CoD->MK->GT without bother.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Should've been 1080p/120fps. I doubt most fortnite players (kids) care about 4k.

And how many of those young fortnite players will have an HDMI 2.1 HDTV connected to their PS5? I bet there'll be many more with just a regular 4K HDTV.

The vast majority of people don't have access to 120hz displays. With a few exceptions only the newest 2020 TVs have 120hz support, and most people playing on console are playing on TVs not monitors where >60hz is more common.

That's true, but they atleast could've added a performance mode for the people that do have 120hz displays.

You can make fun of it (it at least seems like you are) but stuff like that is actually something that helps a lot with it feeling new.

Being able to shoot through trees and break branches in Crysis would have been nuts at the time and most games still don’t do it. I remember playing FEAR for the first time and being blown away by the lighting physics and AI. Next Gen shouldn’t just be about resolution and textures and shit. There’s a lot more that goes into making a game look amazing.

Mostly kids play Fortnite. You think parents give a shit about buying a 120 hz tv for their kid to play this? LOL

Err my tv has 120hz at 1080p and 1440 at least, and we have a 120hz compatible monitor in the house, so some people might care.

Fortnite runs below 1080p on PS4, which Sony markets as a 1080p console, so...

It also runs at below 1440p on PS4 Pro which Sony markets as a 4K console, so...
Well, it's concerning that a console being marketed as next-gen and launching within a week runs a current game worse than a 3-year old cheaper console, don't you think?

Receipts?

Many of the comments were buried in PS5 & XSX discussion thread.

When DF said Demon Souls was running at 1440p in performance mode and R&C was running at a dynamic resolution, several XboxGAFers thought the Xbox Series S could handle peformance mode at 1440p or close because MS announced XsS as a 1080p - 1440p console.

Except for a hundred more you can get the digital version of the PS5 and do 4K.

Id like to see the XS pushed a little bit more and see what it can actually do, though. Time will tell.

But if you are thinking of buying a 1080p machine at the start of the generation chances are you don't have a 4K TV or want to buy one...

Except we don't know what the settings are and how they compare between gen's ? I can make a RTX 3070 perform better than a RTX 3080 by changing the settings.

For xsx and ps5

4K RESOLUTION AT 60 FPS
Experience Fortnite on PlayStation like never before on PlayStation 5 with stunning 4K running at a smooth 60 FPS.

DYNAMIC VISUALS AND PHYSICS
Experience a more dynamic and interactive world with grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid (cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects), and all-new Storm and cloud effects

For PS5

DUALSENSE CONTROLLER IMMERSION
Haptic feedback makes it feel like you’re holding the Suppressed SMG or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. In addition to general vibration support, we’ve integrated haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons on the new DualSense controller.

SELECT YOUR FAVORITE MODE FROM THE PS5 HOME SCREEN

For xss
1080P RESOLUTION AT 60 FPS ON SERIES S
Hop into any game mode and enjoy 1080P running at a smooth 60 FPS. The Xbox Series S will support most of the visual enhancements available on the Series X.

And it's free to play on PS5 only, no need for PS Plus!

Isn't it already 1080@60 on base PS4? Kind of disappointing for the S, but give it a year and it'll reach 4k60 like the PS5.
No. The 60 fps mode was only for Pro and X. Now the PS4 has a 60fps mode with sub 900p pixelcount. Pro is at dynamic 1080, and XSS is @1080p with XSX/PS5 details.

But I really expected a 120fps mode for this. Even if they sacrifice image quality. This is a game were people reduce details just to play at 144 +fps

Also interesting to see that 1080p reality striking. This is what most of the projections pointed at, until Microsoft weirdly started talking up 1440p, which I think has actually hurt perception more than anything. You underpromise and overdeliver, not the opposite, which is what Microsoft PR doesn’t seem to get.

A 1080p next-gen system for $300 is still really cool for a certain crowd.

Should've been 1080p/120fps. I doubt most fortnite players (kids) care about 4k. And 1080p/60 on Series S is pathetic when it's marketed as a 1440p console. Already it's showing it's underpowered.
Series S should all ways have been marketed as a 1080p machine. Uve either got a 4k TV or a 1080p TV, no inbetween and that way it will all ways do what the Series X does graphically just downscalled.

The same people in here bashing XSX for 1080p are the same people who said ill take fps over resolution when the ps4 pro games were 1800p and the one x games were native 4k.

You guys can hate the S, but the casuals will love it.

Casuals are playing on the Switch or PS4/XB1. People covet, it part if humana nature. so when jumping into next gen, the late adopters will covet the high end, not settle (over $100) for the extreme low end. The S will be the 2nd or 3rd Xbox in an all Xbox house, not a huge market. It will also get some sales based on a confusing cross gen Xbox naming scheme, so there is that.

A quarter the power for a quarter the resolution.

But for some reason people dont think this makes sense.....if it was doing 1440p60 or higher the XSX version would need to be doing higher than 4K right?

I’m really excited to see this vision for the game. Chapter 2 and Xbox One X was a pretty lovely revamp as it was, and I can’t wait to see what happens on next-gen. I especially like that they’re talking about the world being more interactive — Shmunter Shmunter is spot on with saying we need more of that.

We still have these PC comparison shots from the PS5 trailer a month or so back. (Zoom, it’s pretty high-res) It’s the same game, but noticeably nicer looking in the details and overall feel.
