I'm not being defensive. I'm being offensive...rather purposefully. Sick and tired of seeing people desperate to find something to disparage one console. Xbox seems to ask the person to send in his console so it can be tested. Meaning there's no evidence that there hasn't been any form of tampering on the customer's side of things...including vaping into the bottom of the console.
Instead of jumping to conclusions, people should wait to see if this guy actually sends his console in. Xbox is just being PR friendly by humoring this as they should.

I TRIED to buy both, I could only get an XSX. I just got lucky on the XSX. I woke up too late on the day Sony released their pre-orders. Haven't been able to find one since. I've resigned myself to the idea that I won't get one til 2021. I was one of the people frantically bombarding Walmart basedo n the thread on here that said they would have some PS5's.

You don't see me in the broken PS5 thread saying the same thing, because the guy has video evidence and has already shipped his console back to Sony. so far one is confirmed, there were lots of “vape“ ones so it is impossible to verify which ones are which, also Xbox accepting warranty claim means nothing, we don’t know how this will end and what will be their findings, if it is a common issue I would expect a recall, if it is one in a million case, they will do nothing, just replace that blokes machine

Not sure if they are faulty though, as those effects could happen from using bad HDMI cables. Could be as well faulty as it's normal to happen. What's not normal is setting your house in fire.

- Have you ever had a component fry inside a computer? If it happened to you, you'd probably remember there was either no smoke or barely any smoke at all, just a very distinctive smell. If you look at the video and think it's real with THAT amount of smoke I don't know what to tell you. What physical part of the console do you think is generating that smoke?
- It's normal for MS to contact the guy and ask him to send his console back for review. Doesn't mean in any way they agree the video is real, it would make sense to investigate any claim of the sort especially around launch.
- After being called out, the guy didn't provide any additional evidence of anything. You'd think it would be very easy to take any picture from the outside after such a huge fire inside but nope, no photo of the console after the burn was provided. Just google "burnt PSU" and you will see that even from the back of the console you would see traces of such a huge burn, or deformation etc.
