PS5 Firmware update features wishlist.

So the PS5 released and while we didn't get a barebones UI like we did from PS3 to PS4, it seems there are some features missing. Then, I guess that by using the console for some days, I wonder if you have come up with new ideas for future updates.

Let's post features that we'd like to see Sony implement someday. I'll start with the obvious one:

+ FOLDERS
+ Record videos by trophy type instead of ALL trophies.
+ Remove always on HDR. They way it works on PS4 it's much better.
+ Add more preset settings (developers should be required to use this feature as it's an accessibility one).
- Trophy interface redesign.
- Wallpaper/Themes.
- 1440p support.
- Screenshot with button press.
- Web Browser
+ Menu Music off, but still get sound with games UI. (It used to be like that in the PS3).

I'll try to edit the post and add the ones you come up with as well as others that I can think of later.

Also would like to have a favorites section for games so I can pin certain titles to a shortcut menu and jump to them with a few clicks at any moment.

UI is great but just needs more additions like folders. I wish the media gallery would show a symbol like it did on ps4 showing that you already shared a picture or video.

Most importantly though they need to get these issues fixed everyone is reporting

1. A "Match Dynamic Range"-Feature
2. Folders
3. Custom Wallpapers

I do not have a PS5 yet. But as far as I am aware we cannot
take screenshots with a short press of the create button.
I really would like to have the option to take a screenshot with a short
button press instead of a long button press.

Fixing all the reported issues with downloading, game icons remaining you can't delete and whatever's wrong with rest mode plus external drive would be a good start.

- 1440P support(they have said they will implement it if the demand is high enough)
- Out the box VRR support(supposedly this is on the developers end to implement it??)
- Quick Resume between different games(not sure if Sony have spoken about this)
- Easy 120fps support for PS4 titles that doesn't require a full native port(not sure if this can be done at this point)

That's about it. I'm sure the first 3 can and will be done. The last one I'm not so sure.

I’d like to see folders come back if that is possible, but I don’t know if they can do it with their activities cards. I do like that you can get help with games. I used it for Astros playroom and it worked like a charm.

So pretty much folders and support for people with 1440p.

To me

-archive ps5 games on external HDD.
-1440p120
-VRR
-PS1/2 backwards compatible
-web browser
-themes and wallpapers

Most of those are actually very achievable and I am sure we will see them all at some point. PS1/2 BC is very difficult to see happening because of the foreign architecture of those consoles.

I read that title completely wrong lol. I thought it meant Sony released a firmware update featuring a wishlist..

Everybody else got anything I could think of already...soooo..custom sounds for the dashboard would be pretty cool

I want a shortcut for stand-by/power off. Maybe I am missing something - but pressing down ps button long doesn't seem to bring up the usual "turn off" menu? Now they are all the way on the bottom, and power button is all the way on the right.

Sony already produced a working PS1 emulator for the PSP and Vita, I don’t see why the PS5 should’t have it.

Where to begin

External drive support to let us store our PS5 games
Folders
For god's sake add an add-on section to the PlayStation Store along with more options to find stuff.
Theme support
Expand the Store wishlist to allow more than 100 items
Ability to gift friends on the PS Store
Hide games in your library
VRR support
Web browser (I mean they have options in the settings for a web browser already)
Quick Resume feature
PS1 and PS2 support
Some kind of monthly trophy leaderboard like the Xbox has
Bring back the ability to download/upload our cloud saves by clicking options on the game tile
Bring back the ability to see patch notes by clicking options on the game tile.

I would like to be able to toggle in which game I want HDR and in which game I don't.

Something like press the options button over the game and in the pop in menu there's an option for enable/disable HDR. I like Miles Morales with HDR but I need to play FIFA without it, so I have to go to the settings menu to toggle it everytime i switch.

You can change the share button to favor screenshots, so just a single press like I prefer on PS4 as well.

My main desire for now is stability, that should take priority. Folders, and more user customization would be appreciated, but I want to be able to use my PS5 like my PS4, able to comfortably put it in Rest Mode.

What time is it?
-Ability to wishlist add-ons
-Ability to change the default library tab from your entire library to only what is installed.

I wish we got an actual game resume instead of stupid activity bullshit.
They should just have a activity/option that skips right into loading your save.
Make trophy cards actually show the full description on multiple lines by shrinking the trophy image.
They should make the cards taller.
BC for PS1, PS2, and PS3.
I think atleast PS3 & PS Vita game support. They already have trophy support. And they must already have licenses to sell them in the PS Store. PSVita games can use the touchpad(clicking to switch between the front).

They should have the ability to snap Netflix, Youtube, etc. to the side.
They should have licensed bluetooth PS5 headphones that work with the USB wireless dongle.
They can theme the cards and system color. (I personally want grey/white) And a 2 second delay to the game overlays to show the system background.
Ability to upgrade to deluxe editions after the fact easily.

Most important for me:
1. Web browser
2. Themes & custom wallpapers
3. VRR
4. PS5 game save backup to USB drive

Less important but still:
5. Folders
6. At least PS1 and PS2 BC
7. Quick resume for 2 games

I'd like the ability to hide or remove games from showing up in your collection. Not just the installed games but the ones in that first tab. I've got some games showing up that I only played once or twice years ago and I'd like to clean it up.

I saw that the PS5 OS and interface was getting praise.

They're full of shit. It's tedious annoying and unnecessary. I took my 4TB external from PS4 Pro and connected it and it lost half the games and needed to be redownloaded.
Things like getting to the settings menu was also annoying.

Not to mention, it's missing features like VRR and the M.2 drive being disabled. The M.2. drive could have been solved easily. If the drive was not fast enough for PS5, limit it to running PS4 games and storing unplayed PS5 games.

No shit. Where is the trophy menu?

I wanna put my ps5 to rest mode without pushing home button
all they need to do is add a power icon on the top right corner

and hidden trophy detail doesnt need you to push option button.

Under your profile icon, albeit you can view cards while in-game though those are driven based on relevancy algorithms.

Most notably is how underwhelming the trophy feedback is on PS5. Unlocking a trophy is so bland that it appears there was no thought given to it, which I wouldn’t be surprised by. I haven’t seen many people discussing the matter, but I can’t be the only one.
