I hate to be a hardass but... If you want part of the new generation, you should buy the new console. I hear that apparently Sony are gonna be supporting crossgen for a few years or something (in whatever capacity), but unlike xBox they're going to keep certain titles firmly in the 'as envisioned for the ps5' category. Better get used to missing out on, like, two in three big titles or something.

It did originally come out on a $600 USD platform. If you think about it. Now it’s out again on a $500 USD platform. I think the timing of its release is what really angers people. It’s a showcase game for the new console.

Except Demon Souls is a ps3 game, not a next gen one. Read the OP, he's not asking for this exact remake, not even in the title.
Feels pretty shitty of sony to take a game people have been asking for years on the ps4 and make it a next gen exclusive.

Games are a luxury, not a fucking privilege. If you can't afford a new console due to circumstances or the country you live in not being held in a manufacturer's line of sight then just crack on with what you're able to play.
If it's due to not scoring one at launch, hang tight, if it's coz you're in a poor part of the world, thems the breaks. New console launches don't orbit that and you, thankfully.

Well, its not giving the finger, but its a little slap in the face tbh, its a game we wish and expected to happen on 4 and now its just on 5. Im not that mad about it cause the visual are stunning and it looks new gen, but at the same time, dissapointed we didnt see it threw PS4 spawn of life, were we all wanted it at first.

It's nonsense to say "PS4 is where we all wanted it", it was a speculated by a few, but the game's existence was a complete surprise when it was revealed for the great majority of people. It wouldn't be the same game either, it wouldn't have been downgraded "a bit".
It's a game developed for a next gen platform and the technology in the game was developed around this fact. Can't you accept this fact and move on? You'll get to play it once you buy a PS5.

So? In every new generation, the new systems going to have exclusives to sell you the system and PS5 is no different.
Also PS4 has Dark Souls series(spiritual sequel to Demon’s Souls), Bloodborne and Sekiro. If someone has no intention of buying PS5 those games can give him/her Souls experience until they get their PS5.

But calling it a middle finger because they ended up making a next gen remake from the ground up rather than port it to a console thts had its limelight for seven years now is just an overreaction imo. A little bit, but I get that Bluepoint is a small studio so working on two versions could be detrimental to the game and Sony needed an impactful game for the Playstation fans... So it's fine.
I just hope that they can get From Software on board to help BP on a expansion for the Remake, one of the reasons that stopped me from going insane for playing it, it's the fact that other than graphically, the game adds almost nothing to the original... And I want more than that.
Still, next year I will definitely and gladly get a Ps5 and Demon's Souls Remake.

Bluepoint Games (a company known for remastering games), not From Software (the original devs of Demon's Souls), put a fresh coat of paint and added sound effects to a game that was released over 11 years ago on the PS3. It is the exact same game. Flaws and all. It's not an exclusive. I don't care if you add make-up, put it in a dress and tell it to make new sounds at night, it's not going to be an experience you haven't felt before.

3) Having a Souls game at launch for PS5 - major selling point for PS5 and a way to pull in the hardcore.
This version of the game is not possible on PS4. A lesser, gimped version, which is what we don't want with new gen, would be viable for PS4 but that defeats the object of remaking the game in the first place. The "it's possible on old tech!!1!" shit is exhausting. Every game is possible on old tech if you want to destroy the visuals, reduce the mechanics and just be left with the bare bones of a game.
There is nothing to be pissed about imho. Sony never said it was coming to PS4 so nobody should feel misled or poorly treated. By OPs own admission "they could get a PS5 if they wanted to". This is just entitled gamer shit once again.

Would be a different story if it was a new game tbh. Its a remake which was wished or expected during PS4 time. Its one of the reason i didnt go crazy about it to get a PS5 just for it. Its a game iv played on PS3. Sure it look 10 time better, but its still a remake of an existing game.
Story would be very different for me and a lot i think if Bloodborne II was announced. I think i would get browned by a scalper just to get a PS5 if i was not able to get one at launch!
I will get Demon’s Souls one day. And i would have bought a lesser version of it just for the moment on PS4. Its crazy as much im a Souls fan it didnt feel to run for a PS5, but im guessing im in the minority here.

With 100M PS4 consoles in the wild and the info about the development of this game sounding like it will easily scale to the PS4 CPU - as bluepoint said they weren't using all the Zen2 in their DF interview with John, and all the graphics techniques they mentioned would scale to PS4 at 1080p30, along with oodle textures speeding up loading - so I expect a PS4 version release around the time the game gets its first price discount on PS Store.
This and the £70 price tag for an unoriginal work is the reason I'm not buying it straight away on Thursday, and will buy it when it is at price parity with other games, even though I would really like it, because I never finished the ps3 version and with the new ability to change the controls - presumably if PS4's accessibility options transferred to ps5 - and then finally change the z-targeting button to a better button.

Having had a PS4 since launch, I'm absolutely flabbergasted that Sony has the audacity to overlook that loyalty. Who the hell do they think they are? I deserve Demon's Souls on PS4.
Same with Ratchet & Clank. I don't care if they have to ditch raytracing & that fancy portal jumping, we deserve whatever cutbacks are necessary to ensure a PS4 release. The PS5 just merely needs to replace the PS4 Pro, not steal games from the PS4.

Not mad at all, its nice to have a good exclusive on the new console I just bought. I can see it coming out later maybe, but I mean if we want all the new games to come out on old consoles then what would be the point to ever upgrade? I am happy the most with the bar being set with SSD's, but most people wouldn't be (or don't know how nice Ssd's are to have). IDK it just seems that people want everything they want, then go and complain about nothing being even worth it on new consoles or whatever. You cannot make everybody happy, so just do you and hope for the best.

Having the developers focus on only one platform with one set of developing tools, and making the most of the new hardware makes for a far better game. More optimization, more coding to the metal, more focus, less time and resources wasted etc. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but I for one do not agree.
In my opinion, since it's a new generation, a new console - and the PS5 needs new exclusive games to take full advantage of that. This is the difference between the PS5 and the XSX/XSS and the difference is massive. The game is bound to be much better and more impressive if it's not cross-gen or cross-platform.

Mostly Xbox fanatics and PC port beggers. Their post history will tell you what angle they will push. Nintendo and Sony fans aren't complaining about exclusives tailored for their systems. Also, some are just parokeeting Phil's flip flopping on exclusives this gen.
