PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Xbox Series X maxes out at 1080p@60fps SDR for 30 seconds vs PS5 4K@60fps HDR up to 15 minutes automatically or more via built in Share Factory Studio app in WebM or MP4. I've checked many on youtube and they are extremely clean for an internal recording.

It also gives you plenty of options. Including whether you want to include party chat and your own mic audio as well. I almost always have my Elgato going, but sometimes this comes in handy and also prevents clips from having too much noise or talking.

On a side note, trimming and sharing clips is super easy and fast, which are then viewable on the PS App.

Yup, honestly it's massive for budget content creators as it's like having a strong PC and free editing program. Gamersyde is raising strong on youtube using it, along with amazing PNG screenshots. You can really make a decent channel/website for gaming focused mostly on PS5 without extra expensive tools. I've used Share Factory on PS4 before and it's easy to use. Might need to port the clips to PC if you wanna go the extra mile though but it's a welcome addition to accelerate workflow.

How is the revolutionary 3D audio? People were raving about it initially but since launch I have barely heard it mentioned.

On my Series X I am outputting 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos. What are my options with PS5?

Not sure, but I think the true implementation of it is on Ratchet and Clank and GT7 from the trailers I've checked. Spiderman MM also praised for it. I didn't get my PS5 yet, so can't really tell but have Pulse 3D secured with it.

You can output 7.1 as well if the Tempest isn't implemented.

Thanks, unfortunately I haven't been able to secure a 3D Pulse headset but I know that others may work. Failing that does the PS5 output 'standard' surround sound to a home theatre setup>? Sure I read it doesn't support Dolby Atmos for games?

I do wish the Dualsense battery lasted longer. I have been playing some massive gaming sessions lately, in all fairness, but I'm killing the battery pretty easily and it just reminds me of the PS4 controller all over again.

The Pulse headset battery seems to last a long time, though. I don't have to charge it up nearly as often as the controller.

Yes it doesn't support Atmos, but Atmos isn't the only tech out there ;) Maybe it's superior when it comes to 7.1 but not by a massive margin vs DTS. Sony Supports DTS HD Master Audio 7.1, and Dolby Audio (not sure what that means, could be just atmos for movies and so).

And yes PS5 supports surround system. But Tempest implementation is something else and should be massive only on headsets. They'll try to mimick something good for stereo TV's, soundbars, and surround sets, but don't expect much.

Here is where you can set up your surround setup:

But The Tempest 3D AudioTech is currently compatible only with headsets. It makes sense because it's HRTF-based.

Thanks for the feedback. It'll die on me anyway as on weekends and vacations I can play more than 24hours straight for singleplayer games. But I stop playing for longer periods afterwards as I'm not an online MP gamer as used to be. Didn't play anything since Ghost of Tsushima. I bought an extra DS and the charging station, seems like a wise move now.

Pulse 3D gonna die on me as well, but does it charge from the controller? Would love that even if that will drain DS battery faster. If audio quality is compromised I might just use a powerbank. You can use a powerbank as well to keep playing without a long cable, but don't use fast charging and go for the slower one as it might shorten the battery lifespan.

2 more days for me to get my PS5.:lollipop_anguish:

I just use the headset with the bluetooth dongle it comes with. I haven't plugged it into the controller yet. If you are buying the official charging stand, then at least you can just stick the controller on it every time you're done playing. It works really well and these controllers charge up much faster than PS4 controllers.

And with people talking about the 3D audio quality - I'm loving it. I tried playing Demon's Souls on my 5.1 setup one day and it just does not compare to the headset's positional audio at all. And in COD multiplayer, I can hear like 2 little footstep taps coming from my right side or behind me or wherever it's actually from and have an idea of how far away they are too. It has saved my ass so many times already.

And no one should take those tests of Pulse 3D on PC and PS4 seriously, check this review for example:

I told him to take off the hat from the intake vents, lol:

BTW, take off your hat out of the main air intake there. And thank you for the review.

He responded to my post:

What’s up Bo! Lol 😂 I just threw it on there at the time of recording. 👊👊👍👍

Not sure if he's on Neogaf and recognized me, lol. Actually Bo means "Father of".:lollipop_downcast_sweat:

I'll post this here too

Hi guys. HDR looks completely broken for me for most ps5 games. Everything is complety washed out and terrible looking. My bldcks are basically white grey. Turning off HDR in Demon Souls makes it look a million times better.

A lot of people on Reddit have reported the same thing thing.

No matter what settings I change. Limited to full range it still looks washed out.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Did you try to adjust HDR from system setting? What TV do you use?

What TV? Also I'm guessing you're using the cable that came with the PS5? I would try something different as a test to see if its faulty cable.

Thanks for the reply guys. My tv is a Hisense Q8 which I believe the US model is called the h9g.

I have tried 2 different cables and still the same issue.

Edit. Could disabling hdcp 2.3 help?

Finished Astros Playroom, took around little over 4 hours of amazingly adorable fun and quite interesting boss battles. Can't wait to jump back into speed run mode. This game right here is the reason why Dual Sense will be revolutionary and will define gaming on PS for the next 7 years. Playing games that makes use of haptics and adaptive triggers seem to result in battery drain faster. What i mean by this is Dual Sense is giving 6 hours max with 6 straight hours playing between Astros Playroom and Cold War. Both these games are showcasing the DualSense's innovative features. But when I had sessions that involved a mix of PS4 games like COD Warzone from Infinity Ward and Days Gone alongside PS5 games, DualSense gave me around 7-9 hours of battery. Btw this is all while the headset is connected directly to the controller for audio output which btw is a game changer.

You could try altering the black level if it looks washed out. But keep in mind that HDR is supposed to increase detail in darker areas rather than being crazy dark for the sake of being dark.

No, HDCP is not related to the image at all. Perhaps the TV is just bad? Doesn't seem that bad ,though.

Also keep in mind that it looks like the Q8 is an 8bit panel so perhaps there is some sort of conflict with it displaying a 10bit range of HDR? But then again I'm guessing your PS4 pro looked fine?

Yeah mate the pro looked amazing so does my one x.

It seems a lot better with transfer rate -1 but then it reverts back to being foggy and washed out again. So strange.

How usable is the PS5 as an pure offline console?
I know from the Xbox Consoles, that they are pretty limited using the offline mode and you need to do a mandatory update, before you can even do something with the console.

Is it the same for PS5 too?

PS always been perfect offline, we pick some PS4's and leave them in our camp for months without updates.

anyone else experience when they put the ps5 in rest mode, turn it back on, the UI selection in games is chuggish?

It's better to avoid Rest Mode completely at the moment.

Have you tried keeping everything in PS5 video settings as Automatic and changed your TV's Black level to limited/low? Or put your PS5's in limited and TV low?

no need for the first update to start playing (I would recommend tho)

As long as you have your primary account activated on the system, it’s perfect offline for digital games.

For physical it’s even easier.

Gonna stop using rest mode for now... it only works about 50% of the time anyways... the other half of the time my game I paused restarts anyways.

PS5 Update didn't change any of that.

Has the console crashed some time? Or just the game restarting?
I haven't seen any actual crashing.

Literally the only issue I've seen is that Days Gone doesn't actually resume from rest mode some of the time. I've gamed on the system for 20+ hours with no crashes across Days Gone, Spiderman Remastered and a bit of Demon Souls.

No external drive connected though, I know that's some of what people are having trouble with.

Ratchet and Clank needs a 60fps patch badly, after going and cleaning up remaining trophies in Days Gone, inFAmous SS, inFamous FL, games that offer high resolution at 60fps locked on PS5, it’s just jarring going back to 30fps in Ratchet. I’m pretty close to the plat though so I’ll live with it

then finally can start Ghost of Tsushima

Is there any news on when ps5 is going to get 120 hz, auto low latency mode, variable refresh rate, and full chroma 444 support? this should have all been available out of the box.

Ill never understand how anybody could prefer "fidelity mode" over "performance mode." Sure, 30 fps and higher quality visuals look good when the screen isn't moving. However every videogame i've ever played the screen moves and 30 fps has such poor motion resolution in comparison to 60 fps and above. This isn't even factoring in input latency which is much worse at lower framerates.
