Cyberpunk 2077 currently looks really bad on PS5 (not a shitpost).

Witcher 3 was bad on consoles, some settings were below low. AF was awful, loadtimes were awful, the game still slows down below 30fps in the bog and has severe framehitches when you approach new towns or when randomly riding. Witcher 2 on XBOX was butchered to pieces to work or massively reworked......Truth is, I too heard great things on CDPR before they started porting their wares over to consoles, but even when they were solely in the PC realm, it took every title of their years before it was in a semi-playable and bug free state......Witcher 3 probably has the most patches of any game last gen and it was not primarily to add content like GTS or Driveclub.......It took them years to patch the bog on consoles and it's still not good. So this is the CDPR experience on consoles...I think they are spread too thin and not as capable technically, this is no DICE here.

I nearly spat out my coffee.

You're talking about the same Dice who took years (I'm not even sure if they even did) to eventually fix the rubber banding stutter in Battlefield 4 on the ps4. Battlefield 4 was basically a broken unplayable mess for months & months after release (sweet memories of stuttering around conquest maps...).

I don't have a gaming PC, but regardless, I have already stated that Cyberpunk looks fantastic. When I said it looked disappointing and nothing special, I was referencing the performance issues I saw which is what this thread was about. For such a hugely powerful gaming rig, seeing some glaring issues kind of stood out. The hyperbole I hear about it being a generational leap above and beyond what's currently available I simply disagree with.

Spider-Man Miles Morales looks excellent, for instance, and if you look at the level of detail in an open world setting in times square below (which is nice and colorful in a very cyberpunk type way for comparisons sake) on a console that has quite a bit less power than a top of the line nvidia card, I'd say it stacks up nicely. You can feel free to disagree, that's my opinion on the matter.

That city is boring as hell, the building are just carboard cutouts. I'm sorry but it's not even close.

It's fine if you prefer spider man, but from a technical standpoint it's way behind Cyberpunk.

game is pushing last gen consoles (ie ps4) to there limits. this is why next generation (ie ps5) is absolutely necessary.

The game is clearly pushing the limits of the X1 and PS4's paltry hardware specs and the XSX|S and PS5 versions are just those but playable.

I personally think it looks really good on my XSX, so much detail, density and variety. What they probably should've done is just released it on PC, cancelled the last-gen versions and released the actual XSX|S and PS5 versions in 2021.

We were speaking strictly about visuals, not about all the interactivity that you can do in the world.

I agree that Cyberpunk has more fleshed out interiors, etc. But I chalk that up to it being a shorter developed cross gen game using the first game's footprint. But, from what I've seen Cyberpunk's world also can look a bit sparse and boring at times. I'll judge that aspect when I get the game, but for Spider-Man the open world is merely about the visual thrill of being Spider-Man, whereas Cyberpunk is clearly an open world RPG designed around that type of experience.

With the SSD speeds on PS5, I expect Spider-Man 2 to really start exploring more interiors for buildings and so forth (though not every building, obviously).

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Same issues on PC, no (in game) way to crank up the lod distance for everything high enough (though maybe it's higher than consoles, idk, it's still bad). Unless it hides settings by your GPU or something (but it even shows me RTX options I can' turn on my older GTX so probably not).

Clutter objects materialize too close (man, hate this in modern games, think it started with Crysis for branches and pebbles and shit, rather not have them at all if they're gonna pop in 10ft ahead) and even larger elements have too obvious close up lod switches. Noticed the graffity shit you mention too.

Looks very rough in general except in stills where the art shows its strengths and you can't see all the problems that are there in motion.

I'll keep the complaints visual here but yeah, not impressed with the rest of what the game does either so far.

Edit: Just noticed the moment you look away or so all npc models switch around randomly, lol wut, (non interactive) vendors and djs and shit included which is really jarring as you notice another dude was at the stall just a second ago, or specific folks sitting on a bench etc.

If you look closely you can see that the OG Xbox One game is more stable.

A stable 15fps.

* Just started the game - the resolution is so low that you hardly can see any details on face in character creation. It looks like something reconstructed to 1080p.

* HDR does not work on my Q9FN - it just washes out colours.

* some effects are so fucking bad that they looks like a bug (below you can see a shadow of a character that is in front of a car in which V sits - so he is fairly close to the camera)

EDIT 1:
Turning off CA, DoF, Blur and Grain helped a lot to clean the image.

EDIT 2:
After some more play
* game is supper smooth. Have not seen a single frame dropped

* pop-up is pretty bad. The general pop-up is really ps4ish but this is to be expected but there are a lot of cases of some kind of "bugged" pop-up - where shadows/textures like graffiti etc are disappearing if you move further than 1m from object.

* I think 3D audio (and audio in general) is phenomenal, like in the first 30 min I got fooled a few times by turning my head to check WTF was this (honking and sirens especially). Never happened to me before in other games.

This game... should not be released looking like this.

The "screenshot" you included reminded me of those people who say they saw a UFO but the only footage they have is conveniently filmed on a potato at 120p 12fps.

Finally, a half decent comparison video. This is exactly what I wanted to see. The difference between ps4 and ps5 is quite noticeable, this pleases me.

Its hard for me to notice the difference. Maybe compression on Youtube or something. I see as much difference as I could see with AC Valhalla or Watchdogs 3 etc Which is fine by me cause I'm playing on PS4 Pro anyway lol

I think I simply need to see them running on the hardware in person to see it or have some direct feed.

Check your settings to make sure it's at full resolution and not 360p or something? The differences between base consoles (especially the one s wtf) and series x/ps5 is stark.

Low res character creation and map screen is an intentional effect. It's like that on OC too. I don't like it, but it's not a performance thing it's a stylistic choice.

Oh I believe it is, I'll see when I get a PS5 next year and that patch is out as I'm sure it will look even better after.

I didn't get my copy yet. Its shipped from Amazon and I should have it by tomorrow. Because I'm likely to beat it a few times, I don't mind playing most of it on PS4 Pro.

I dont typically play through a game after beating it once. I tend to move on. But this one I can see myself playing through again which works out well cause I'm not sure id be able to hold out for the next gen patch.

As a massive Battlefield fan, that shit pissed me off for months! After it was patched to death, it did end up an amazing MP title though with great support, so I understand the point the person is making.

lol I don't disagree even remotely to that point. I simply believe the person means with their technical work on consoles. BF4 was rough as it was their first next gen title on PS4 and XONE, Witcher 3 was rough as it was their first title on PS4 and XONE. Yet DICE still had solid launches technically on the rest of their titles, even BFV with all of its controversy, I had very little issues compared to the wreck that was BF4. I trust DICE to make a solid title more then most teams tbh I wouldn't let the BF4 launch or even the controversy around BFV give this picture of the team like they can't do this type of stuff, they also are asked to do the fucking impossible by EA.

EA didn't delay BF4 and had that shit on 5 systems.

EA gave them 18 months to make BFV.

So I feel given the task, DICE managed to make some epic titles even with all that shit going on at EA. I don't disagree with how BF4 was at launch, I was pretty pissed being a huge BF fan, but I also don't believe that is a normal thing for DICE to really allow it to paint this picture like they don't know what they are doing or something.

Witcher 3 launched with a lot of issues and till this day still has many issues. I don't disagree that its because it was their first game out on new hardware.
Cyberpunk 2077 is launching with some of the same issues. No excuse is really acceptable this time. They knew PS4 and XONE's hardware years before this title come out for the system's specs to really be an excuse.

That would be like saying all the games coming out this fall or something all have theses type of issues or something when its just not the case. Like DICE, I feel CDPR's issue as the development, might be the management. They might be asking them to do things that just are no feasible in the given time, with the given hardware.

It was especially irritating for me cause I had sold my ps3 when I got the ps4 (a month or so after launch) and had been playing bf4 since the game launched. I pay that lame $10 upgrade fee and get it on ps4, pumped for some 64 player battles. Fire it up, join a conquest match and was met with that mess. Bummed me out man, and couldn't even go back to ps3.

True. I feel we can't even call BF4 a launch game, that game's multiplayer was technically working only 6 months after launch lol I'm happy they made the choice to skip this launch and release BFVI next year. I feel just like DICE, the management or the publisher is asking the team CDPR to deliver something they may not be capable of doing. So the marketing is spot on, the graphics of the city look amazing, then the NPC's look questionable and then they are glitching doing the most basic things, it tells me this game needed more development and the management ignored that the team needed more time to do theses things.

So I don't think its a situation of CDPR can't do it, I think its a situation where the team can't under the time frame that they are being asked, on the hardware that they are being asked to do it on. It just feels like the concept is done by someone that doesn't talk to the technical team. Like an idea exist, but management is demanding some unrealistic time frame. Cyberpunk 2077 looks like something that could work and under a completely different management would have no issue launching with not that many issues. It might answer why we got so many delays. Like someone is saying "sure they can get that done in 4 months" and its really like a years worth of work. The team rushing isn't going to magically make the game better, it will just hinder things.

I'd take DICE's issue with BF4 over this any day as thats 6 months of something that never happened again under that team, vs here we are again with another CDPR title with many major issues.

ArtHands ArtHands damn WTF? I really hope that doesn't happen to me, I'm playing on PS4 Pro......pray for me folks.

This is why the preordering model is bad for gamers and the industry as a whole. It allows people to release broken / underdelivering products and already have millions of locked in buyers.

People never learn.

Yeah, I might just return my game honestly.

I have a PS5 and I still don't even want to play this crap. Might as well just wait for the PS5 version.

PS4 is basically a calculator nowadays, game should've just been scrapped in those consoles. lol

For what though?

The mid gen upgrade consoles were not bought by everyone and the next gen consoles are not readily available everywhere.

CDPR should have cancelled the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game. If not then they should have allowed the press to get media/opinions of those versions out there prior to release so that people at least knew what they would be getting themselves into.

This is like if FFXV came out on PS3. I can't believe how bad it looks on PS4.

CDPR are crooks for releasing this under a console media blackout.

I mean.....maybe. I don't know if i'd go that far to say that. Take me for example I've had the game pre-ordered since 2018, I agree with the criticism regarding this game being broken as I believe there's enough elements in terms of the bugs and issues to make that argument and I believe the criticism needs to be vocal in order for the developer to actually stop doing this.

However I do not believe the model of pre-ordering games has much to do with this because even if the game was not available for pre-order someone was still going to buy this game day one even if they didn't have the ability to do that I mean think about it I was still going to buy this game when it was available and I'm one of the fiercest people who criticize this game on a daily.

So I just don't believe it makes sense to attack consumers in blame them if anything I feel the people that should be blamed are journalists giving this a 9 or a 10 despite some serious issues in my personal opinion I don't believe any game should receive such a score if there is enough issues that hinder the experience as functionality needs to come before anything else.

If it was up to me I would literally have some rating system if I was a person that made reviews that basically stated you are ineligible to receive a 9 or a 10 if you're fucking game has enough bugs in which Quest were broken or the last boss couldn't move or anything weird like that I think it's just completely unfair to reward a developer if you have a platform that's made the offer transparency. So even though I'm getting the game I want you to understand I agree with you that the criticism is warranted but I disagree that the gamers themselves should be attacked because it's not their fault when you have a reviewer giving it a perfect score completely omitting information about very serious issues.

I think it's the right of the consumer to educate themselves on the product they're about to buy but I believe it is also the Integrity of the journalist to tell people this information if something is really wrong with the game because in my personal opinion those review scores do not properly reflect the issues in the game. So if anything the blame needs to be on the journalist that are even supporting this practice.

Their scores are what people are seeing and saying "yup keeping my pre-order". That wouldn't be the case if everyone actually all openly talked about those bugs and put a score low enough that it was understood this game is releasing in a bare state. Nothing is even wrong with that btw as many GAAS games release like this or early access etc, but the consumer has a right to know this is a work in progress.

This game has zero MP at launch to really excuse theses issues. Balancing and patches and shit that happen are expected in a MP title, but a day 1 patch and even more to make the game playable imho in a single player title is just unacceptable.

I dont think its justifiable. RDR2 looks better than this. In fact a lot of games do
Now you know why they delayed it to come out a month after next gen consoles. They promote the console version using Series X or PS5 videos. And YT and game sites have their hands on next consoles too so it goes together.

If they released the game a year or two ago as originally intended, the games would be forced to be promoted either with good PCs, or at best One X or Pro for consoles.

With Series X and PS5, they can jump the hurdle and go straight to next gen and ignore base console footage.

Agreed.

The excuse of PS4 and XONE to me sounds false. They are trying to make something on PS4 and XONE that doesn't make sense, that isn't the fault of the hardware, that is the fault of the developer. CDPR also knew about the hardware they were making their game on. Rockstar did too, but the worked WITHIN THEIR LIMATION, they didn't just release some broken shit and be like "da PS4 did it bruh"

The game doesn't look as good as Horizon Zero Dawn, that game in real time looks fucking amazing (didn't play it on PC). I feel they should have graphically scaled it back and focused on the damn concept WORKING first and foremost. Many of us just wouldn't care if it didn't look this good if it was playable without so many bugs. I liked Himan with all those NPCs even if it didn't look that good, its concept was executable.

One must question, why is everyone else able to make open world games in 2020 but CDPR? If PS4 and XONE was really the main issue and not the team's choice to ignore those limitations, how come everyone else for the last several years were not releasing open world games in this state?

Never forget, this game was fucking revealed BEFORE PS5 and Series X was revealed, to say they can't make it on PS4 or XONE is to question what exactly where they doing for the last several years? How come everyone else isn't doing this same thing? ie our game is unplayable, please buy a PS5 to get what we showed you in 2018?

I wouldn't care if they just made it for next gen consoles and PC at all. I think a lot of us originally thought thats what would happen

In fact it seems if I play it on PS5 right now the experience won't be too bad

But the vast majority of people are going to play this on last gen consoles which is completely half baked or downright broken in a lot of cases. The 15 FPS gameplay they are serving up is utter crap. I think its very shady overall, and they've pushed out a product that doesn't really work and will cash in on ignorant consumers who have seen PC footage for years now

I've played it on the Series X for 8 hours so far and it looks great and its been pretty much smooth sailing. I had the screen freeze a couple of times for 3seconds and minor bugs like clipping but nothing wild or game breaking. Character models and the world look insane

I've been playing on it on the Series X on an OLED for about 2 hours. It does not look that great, at least to me it doesn't. It's been pretty underwhelming from a graphical standpoint so far on the Consoles. That's obviously the reason why they've been hiding the Console versions - Idk 🤔

What I saw from the PC footages earlier look much better. Probably going to be the preferred platform until next-gen versions come out next year.

If this game didnt have a giant budget made over the entire last gen, they probably could have done that. But next gen systems right now is maybe only 3 million systems sold + PC.

They'd ignore 150 million potential base system users. And they can't do that because this game was promoted so long ago, it basically has to tag on base systems to go with it.

It would be weird to release a trailer for a game in Jan 2013, it skips the entire last gen era, and comes out for next gen consoles in 2020.

It is a early access game.
They need more time to finish it... so just wait.

I swear all games are "early access" these days partly as an anti-piracy measure. If you need to connect to PSN/XBL or some other server to update the (broken launch version of the) game, it must do something to stop piracy. Maybe I'm just paranoid..

Thanks.

Wow, XSX framerate is all over the place, it actually drops lower than 40 to the 30s in some crowds and tends to stay under 50 as soon as there are NPCs or buildings. That doesn't look that good...

It would be another case of PS5 being slightly superior to XSX. Not a big surprise after Valhalla and the other comparisons but still...

If PS5 actually stays close to 60 fps locked in those crowds as you said, and at slightly higher res, it would be quite a big difference...

So basically you have no clue how this all works.

As a Ps5 owner, i´ll glad wait for that Ps5 Patch and all Bugs fixed by March or something, mayve they´ll release next gen Withcer 3 patch first anyway.

Too much on my backlog, playing Ghost of Tsu at 60fps right now absolutely amazing!

PS5 version is essentially PS4 pro version so it's not surprising. Hold your PS5 vs XSX comparison till next gen patch arrives.

Game was always going to tank on last gen consoles. It's disappointing but not completely unexpected. I beleive it will run better on XSX due to Xbox one X being the superior version
