Last I checked, I’m fairly certain they are.
This is a case by case situation, but how did you check exactly what happens in each of those companies?

To use an example outside of gaming, i already rolled my eyes several times at what's happening in movies during the last decade and if creators keep getting slammed for nothing like in Cyberpunk's case, i am afraid this stuff is gonna start to creep in.

Hopefully It's not the case.

PS: forgot to mention that people are starting to attack stand up comedians, which is another whole level of absurd.

Jim Sterling is trash. i agree with him on that point.

how obvious that the guy who says "Thank God for me" and always acts like a self important prick does the most obvious self important thing you could do. what a special fucking fat snowflake this fatass is.

these people are just giant narcissists. they have made a religion around how special they are.

Each to their own but wearing f**king lipstick in videos was enough for me :)

He's playing a character to some extent, and making a lot of money doing it. He's obnoxious but it's extraordinarily easy to just not watch his content.

I can watch Sterling's content but only in increments. I can only tolerate his squealy voice for so long. His CDPR video was entertaining and he made some good points. I couldn't care less about what he identifies as, so I'm not gonna waste time praising or lambasting him for it. He's confused with himself and I hope he finds comfort in his life.

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS CANCEL CULTURE

And then every currently active admin begins to perma ban wrong-think.

"No one in the industry thinks I'm wrong," said the cowardly lion with the pinned dissertation that EVERYONE must read. Okay I just made myself a bit sick thinking about it, gimme a sec.

Arguably the most popular comedian on the planet, Dave Chapelle, told everyone trying to cancel him to fuck off after the uproar over his comments about transsexuals. I guess I just don’t see these restrictions on creativity that you seem to observe. Yes, there’s blowback if you touch the sacred cows of liberalism, but no one is forcing creators to toe that line. They are self censoring themselves.

I’ve watched two or three Jim Sterling videos in my life and that was enough. Is his content supposed to be funny? I found that he hates everything just for the sake of it and so he can get clicks. A bit like Jeff Gerstmann.

He was, but like many Youtubers that do it for a living they optimize their content to the most active audience and to attract Patereon subs. Over time it becomes the exact same thing every week because that's the guaranteed income. I unsub from channels when they get to that point and when they start doing livestreams for hours just to farm superchat money instead of making an actual video.

Not everyone is as big as Chapelle though, how many are gonna crumble under such pressure? My argument is that this level of blowback should not exist in the first place when it comes to creative freedom. At least the type of creative freedom that does not actively harm anyone.

And yet, in spite of that, it is one of the most popular shows on Netflix and hasn’t stopped Dave from securing future exclusives with that streaming service. I guess my point is that critics, like the creatives whose work they critique, have a right to make their opinion known. However, as we’ve seen, that doesn’t mean the public will agree. Same goes for Dave and other artists whose work might be seen as incendiary. I do think a lot of creatives self censor out of fear of a backlash from the cancel culture, but plenty do not and haven’t suffered for it. Quentin Tarantino is another great example.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

I wish the vocal ones attempted to look the gender they’re actually transitioning to, here are some example of some transgenders here in my country:

Geraldine Roman (male to female) - currently a politician

Charice Pempengco/Jake Zyrus (female to male) - a known singer

I have no idea who the person on the right is, so this is more of a general defence of trans people who don't pass I guess. The reality is that some trans gender people will never fully pass, whether it's bad luck with genetics, or struggling and coming to terms that they're trans gender late in life. And hopefully for their own mental health as well, they realise that their dating pool is smaller than the average person, and don't resort to immediately assuming that's transphobia. I believe these people exist and I can respect their pronouns and gender identity regardless of their passing.

As for Page, I thought her coming out was confusing. Is she going to transition now? Is she non-binary? I have no idea.

It’s Eddie Izzard. I thought he was a transvestite though?

Went from "Executive Transvestite" to "Trans" I guess?

On a related note, her "Dressed to Kill" stand up is probably in the top 10 all time stand up routines. Highly recommend it.

Also also she's considered to be the "lost Monty Python" member in a lot of ways so I can't imagine her out in the streets demanding this and that.

LOL Shockingly one of the aggressive morons attacking and ban baiting people over cyberpunk was mentally slow in P.E. class....

I have a remarkably long list of accidents during PE class that i just felt compelled to share, under the influence of alcohol

1. Playing baseball. I was nervous as shit, and incredibly sweaty handed. When it was my turn to bat, let go of the bat mid swing, clocking a poor female student in the face.

2. Playing basketball. Layups, hit the rim, the ball hit me square in the nose. Lot of blood.

3. Playing soccer. Managed to score two goals!.... Against my own team...

4. Ultimate Frisbee. My racist ass 70 year old fucker of a teacher made me go under the bleacher, crawling in my hands and feet, after a Frisbee. Cut my knee on some broken glass.

5. The hurdle dash. My foot got caught on one of the hurdles, face planted unto the tarmac. Which would not have been that bad, had it not happened multiple times in a single lap.

6. The mile.... ate nothing but a pop tart that morning. Went into the mile already thirsty, broke my record. I did not even make it into the changing rooms before collapsing unto the floor, fading in and out of consciousness. All i remember is me getting a very stern talking to by a medical professional in the ER.

So.... What are some of your wonderfully traumatic PE stories 🤗?

No wonder these people can't handle something as simple as every day life.

I expected this thread to gain more traction, but I guess people actually having problems is not as interesting as pretending to be concerned for a minority you're not a part of.

I...completely missed the rest of your post for a moment there. Few things I see on the internet cause me to actually say crap out loud, but that thread title pulled a surprised "What the Christ?" out of me, to the confusion and alarm of the other people in the room.

You're missing his point. Chapelle and Tarantino have the luxury of saying fuck you. Because their talent is prodigious. Some other big names fall into that category, even Gina Carrano has a little sway at the moment because she is needed to conclude a story arc in a popular series. Power is sometimes time sensitive - for instance the voice actors of the Simpsons, or the actors of Friends by way of the IP or the creative they are involved with. Some transcend the specific point in time like Tarantino or Chapelle.

But the whole cycle isn't really existing to change those at the top, it's aimed at those coming behind them. You're essentially 'breeding' the controversy out, by instigating a price of ambition and success that emerging talent doesn't want to risk. And those ready to make the next step don't want to risk either. Take a look at all the shite thrown at Chris Pratt. There are people who want him off GotG now and who wanted him off a year or so ago. He's kept quiet. It's likely as peope age out Chris will become one of the go to action stars over the next few years. Is he going to get that chance if he answers his critics or tells them to fuck off? Probably not, so he stays quiet. Admirably so. The latest campaign has him wanting to be thrown off the show - why? Because star lord recently entered a bisexual polyamorous relationship in the comics, and they don't think he can act that because he is filled with christian hatred of gays.

Put that into context, they want him cancelled because they don't think he can kiss a man while acting (if it even got included in a Disney film) - something you see sports managers, players do regularly.

Jesus Christ.

If these was any real God a gas explosion would have occurred at that moment.

Actually feel a bit queasy.

Just look up TrampStamp. A dude with a full beard who antagonized other members.

Haven't seen them posting once it was pointed out, much like Enzom21 being ousted as white.

Is there something this website isn't anxious about? Like, I am anxious about the virus too. My partner's parents both work in the health system and they're constantly at risk. My father has smoked for almost half a century now and I'd rather not have him catch it. I had COVID-19 myself, 1 month at home and 10 days after I started working again I'm still low on energy and coughing a lot despite being negative. This virus fucking sucks, but having nightmares and anxiety attacks over a random dude not wearing a mask? I'd slap folks moving around without masks myself, but I won't spend the night awake for it - especially because I'm pretty fucking tired thanks to COVID-19.
