I am full-tilt afraid to vote on this because my choice is more than likely a ban-able offense here. LOL

TLOU2 seems to me to be the best answer, though prior to its release I'd have given it to BotW. While the latest Zelda iteration has frustrations and is overpraised for its "innovations," ND's sequel is a game I wanted to love more than I actually did and will be remembered as more of a disappointment for switching characters to Abby. Everything thereafter is a slog and the gameplay arc dies in its tracks.

There is a better game to be had in TLOU2 than what we ended up with.

So TLOU2 “won”? I got a feeling it’s going to win everything this year, most overrated, most hated, most divisive, and probably most awards at the Game awards!

Time to do the same thread but underrated games. Could be when user score over 7.5 but critics under 75–
Mad Max, Days Gone, etc. Probably not dramatic enough thread for Gaf!

Listing what i think should have way lower scores on Metacritic/Opencritic. Doesn't matter if i actually love some of these games.

Metal Gear Solid 5 (because it's incomplete and often a mess)

Uncharted 4 (because the pacing, while perfect for a movie, is absolutely awful for a videogame)

The Witcher 3 (because many elements sucked and the game at launch was a disaster, still in my Top 10 ever)

Resident Evil 7 (because enemy variety is non-existent and the third act is a low budget piece of shit)

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (because it's one of the jankiest pieces of shit i've ever played)

Resident Evil 2: Remake (because it sitting at 91 would totally justify TLOUII getting 10/10 left and right, still love the game to death)

Red Dead Redemption 2 (because with the exception of horse riding, everything concerning the "game" part of the game is insulting)

The Last of Us Part II (because it's a narrative heavy game with a trainwreck of a narrative)

Out of those i've played. I've yet to buy Cyberpunk but i'm fairly certain it would be on the list as well.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Metal Gear Solid 5

Uncharted 4

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Red Dead Redemption 2

The Last of Us Part II

Out of those i've played.
What's wrong with Mankind Divided? I've seen criticism regarding it's length but not much else.

TLOU2

Looks insane, sounds pristine, but gameplay felt dated and just so repetitive to me. I didn't have a lot of fun (which I guess was the point, I know, but still).

I don't hate it, but the parade of perfect scored and GOTY awards....

I would probably rate it a 7 out of 10.

I'm pretty behind so my opinion is kind of shit on this topic but for me it's Mario Odyssey. Definitely not a bad game, lots of stuff I like about it, very few things I dislike. I just don't think it's all that fun to play.

They are good games, but i consider them overrated since people put them into the game of gen conversation:

The last of us 2
Red Dead 2
Bloodborne (i am gonna get killed for this, but hey, i like dark souls 3 better)

Cyberpunk 2077 and TLOUII. Both are mediocre games which got highly overated by the press, 10/10 scores were thrown left and right by the people who signed the papers to get review copy and agreed to not talk about the flaws of the game. In TLOUII they couldnt talk about half of the game while in Cyberpunk case they even could not show their own footage to not show any bugs to the public. How more corrupt game journalism can get if they agree to this bullshit?

My top 5 (in order of their respective rating on open critic and doesn't include last gen remasters/ports) -

1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal
5. The Last of Us Part II

Red Dead Redemption 2. Extremely boring with outdated mission design.

Cyberpunk 2077 would be a good choice too, but it's kinda saved by the main quests and characters.

Forza Horizon 3 and 4 too. Couldn't get into it at all, seemed very boring to me.

Breath of the Wild. One of the reasons I bought a switch. I heard nothing but good thing about it. People saying it’s a new standard in open world games and the exploration is unmatched. Within the first two hours it felt similar to most open world games that I’ve played in recent years. Ubisoft Towers, an over abundance of fetch quests, a big map that feels empty as hell.

I tried to let my curiosity take control and allow this “world class” exploration to lead the way but most of what I found were more korok seeds, more npcs to give more fetch quests, or another shrine. The best part about the game is how the mechanics work together and allow you to accomplish things in different ways. I appreciate the game respecting my gaming intelligence and not holding my hand the whole time. But that only took me so far. Even the DLCs are just more of the same shit.

I went in expecting so much because I’ve heard nothing but positive things about this game, but it’s definitely my biggest disappointment and what I feel is the most overrated game of the gen.

The Last of Us 1. Combat is repetitive and brings nothing to the table. I didn’t like the story for the most part because you’ve seen it in every zombie plot ever.

Toss up between tlou2 and bloodbourne

bloodbourne I think was popular because it was really the only half decent ps4 exclusive at the time as there was a dry spell of games....it’s a very average game

tlou2 had great gameplay but the story and execution of the plot is enough to put you off playing the game and it’s such a step down from part 1 which was carefully crafted

best game should of been ghosts of tush

Breath of the Wild
Fall Guys
Cyberpunk
Bloodborne

They're all okay, but not what I was led to believe they were.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I still enjoyed the game alot, but there was so many little bad gameplay decisions that I could never understand how the game ended up with a 97 metacritic.

One of the things that most annoyed me was the auto failed missions if you did not made the mission the exact same way the game wanted u to do. For example, one time i had to confront a guy that was hidding inside a house. I tried to climb to the roof of the house and got failed mission because the game wanted me to enter from the front door. The game was full of these little shits that gave u the ilusion that you could solve the mission in any way you wanted, but it was all smoke and mirrors, and if you did not followed the exact path the game wanted u to follow, you would get a mission failed screen even if you would still in route to complete the mission.

Other shit design decision was with having to re-equip my weapons every time i left the horse.

Plus they crafted one of the most gorgeous open worlds, where thers nothing to do. Its a hunting simulator.

Zelda BOTW. Sorry, don't get it. Empty, boring world with nothing to do. Assassin's Creed Origin did everything better but got shit on because Ubisoft.
As someone that likes AC Origins. The game just holds ur hand the whole time and instead of exploring u spend the majority of the time just going from waypoint to waypoint on the map
