It will probably be developed primarily for Switch with a PS4 port worked in, with 1080p/60fps bump and then backwards compatibility can take care of the majority of the work involved in PS5 version.
Seems like the future of the series is multiplatform anyway (unless Sony or Nintendo step it) with it coming out on PC and Xbox too.

East Asia where most Japanese companies get their overseas sales follows the same pattern as Japan, by the end of 2021 - you will see a lot of AA drop PS4/PS5 versions at launch since it simply won't make financial sense for them. For every FFXVI or From Software game there is literally 100+ other 3rd Party games that have 1/100 of the budget or scope. So yes this position will become a differentiator for Nintendo going forward which they lacked since 1994, but it would also be aided by East Asian and Chinese Studios that want to sell their games in Japan or other markets Switch is popular.

Switch is becoming or likely already is established as a cultural object in Japan. It’s transcended from a gaming device to THE gaming device in Japan.
Nintendo Switch is the symbol of how an entire countries culture has changed towards gaming.
It will be interesting to see if this is replicated outside of Japan to the same degree.

US - The biggest dedicated gaming market and Nintendo dominates there.
France - Top 5 gaming markets where Nintendo is in absolute domination.
China - The biggest in Asian market after Japan for dedicated gaming console with Nintendo Switch already becoming market leader in just 1 year of official release.

Sure I like less expensive things, I wish I could find a non-used Switch for less than I bought my used one (more than MSPR), but people will still buy the thing at the current price so it means that support for the platform will keep strong.Who doesn't like things less expensive...apart from gullible idiots
It also means that Switch players on average are most likely to spend money on games than other platforms players on average, and you can see it pays off on how many devs are releasing their games on it.
The only ones not releasing games on Switch are biggest western AAA devs since the audience is different than their megaproductions anyway, everyone else is because they see it's a healthy market.

Think its the same in the East too. Nintendo is essentially making a mad dash to surpassing PS4 sales right now, and with PS4 production ceased in Japan they are doing Nintendo a favour.
And Nintendo haven’t price cut the Switch, that’s the crazy thing.

I think you’ll be surprise. There are some (in gamepass threads mostly) saying cheap game is bad because it leads to low tier games, and expensive game is good because it leads to real quality games. Here’s one
