The fanbase is on PlayStation and will continue to buy it. Sony are not in a position where they have to lose billions to become relevant again. They are already relevant, healthy and booming. They will continue selling games full price and not on a pass day 1.

They will. But my point was that PS users will have to buy the game for $70. Even the next-gen upgrade will be paid. Then they will look at the other side and see Xbox Gamepass users playing a PlayStation Studios game for no additional cost.

Knowing that Sony could release it on PS+ day one, but they didn't, would be frustrating.

P.S. I am not a fan of baseball (I don't even know how the game is played) so I wasn't gonna buy it anyway; I've never bought one. But if I were planning to get it day one on a PlayStation, I'd have felt the sting of this move by Xbox. I'd have wanted Sony to release the game on PS+ (or PS Now).

Steve Jobs was right, these companies rely on product people to achieve success and then once they achieve it they have a knack for putting the marketing guy in charge and then the whole thing becomes driven by marketing heads who know dick shit about products.

After having watched the Snydercut, it's obvious that WB Execs simply dont know ANYTHING about filmmaking. There are AMAZING scenes in the snydercut that were completely cut out and replaced by some of the worst scenes ever. And as much as its tempting to blame Whedon, it's shocking that a team of execs allowed that version to hit theaters. It shows a complete lack of understanding of what makes a movie great.

And that happens when you start to replace Movie execs with guys who run theme parks, and marketing execs who have never produced a movie in their lives. They dont understand the product, let alone the vision of the artist. I dont know what Jim's background is. I know he was the head of Sony europe for a while, but I dont remember him being part of the worldwide studios at any point like Shu, Layden and Andrew House. Jack Tretton and Kaz made some dumb mistakes with the PS3, but those mistakes were made because they trusted the genius but insane artist Ken Kutaragi who led them down the wrong path and the parent company who forced an expensive bluray player on them.

There is a big difference between those guys who understood consoles and games development and Jim Ryan who seems to be a profit first guy. Kaz and Jack Tretton went out and bought Sucker Punch, Evolution Studios, Media Molecule and Guerrilla Games immediately after losing out on FF and GTA exclusivity. They knew that exclusives were important. If I had to guess, i would say Nintendo and other Japanese old school execs are laughing behind their backs at Jim ignoring literally 3 decades of strategies, stats, trends and business models in favor of chasing short term profits.

But you know what -- and this is just my personal opinion -- but I have always thought that Jim Ryan is very ruthless. And if he is on top of something, he'd just bury the other guy. That's how I've always seen him.

If my perception of Jim was correct, then this should hurt his ego (especially if that bypassing Sony and striking the GP deal with MLB is correct, which I believe is). He pretty much forced the Bethesda acquisition because instead of investing in first party studios, he kept going out and wasting money on timed exclusives for stupid things like Modern Warfare 2 remake, Death loop, Ghostwire tokyo and other third party games that were always gonna release on PS consoles anyway. I believe it was Jason who said that he was trying to buy Star Citizen timed exclusive after getting Final Fantasy 16 and MS had had enough and decided to give him the middle finger and bought all of zenimax. He thought he could outspend Microsoft. Think about that for a second. Sony posted $10 billion in profits last year. MS makes that on a slow quarter. MS can buy Sony with cash on hand and still have a few billion to spare. And he thinks he can win bidding wars?

I mean if you think about it, he ended up hurting PS fans because now we will never get to play the next Elder Scrolls, the next Doom, the next Fallout and of course Star Citizen. Among dozens of other big IPs. All because he was trying to be cute and buying up timed exclusives for mediocre games that were gonna be released on playstaion anyway.

If it’s the only game you are going to play it’s probably worth it just to buy it. If you are going to play the other games it’s worth it to sub amd then buy the game on a deep discount later.

You can buy it on Xbox as well if you wish, however you also get a discount when it is leaving Gamepass as well as by then the game may have dropped in price anyway, the difference paying for Gamepass and access to hundreds of other games.

If Bethesda were looking to be bought, Sony shouldve bought them. Thats on Sony imo. Sony is by far the most profitable and biggest gaming brand out there. They shouldve made getting bethesda a priority seeing as how they are THE biggest and best RPG studio and Sony has no RPGs to speak of. In 2017, MS was weaker than ever. If Jason found about the Bethesda talks then Sony shouldve known as well and shouldve jumped in and made the sale while they had the chance.

The LEAST they can do is give away the stupid baseball game for Ps Plus or something or try to get forza or Star Field out of a deal with microsoft. Because right now it's constantly just looking like this:

- Take away ability to purchase & rent movies
- Charge $70 for first party games
- Port Sony first party games to pc with graphical enhancements that don't exist on the console version
- Allow microsoft to take away Bethesda games without doing anything really in response (yet)
- terrible changes made to the psn party system
- shutting down ps3, ps vita stores without offering a viable backwards compatibility solution for those games
- and now allowing mlb and Microsoft to leech off of their third party talent

Uhh returnal better be a home run, because right now things are LOOKING dire. Every other day microsoft are slam-dunking them it's like they've gotten so complacent and out of touch

I don' think Sony had any say in this, they would never have allowed the game to become available on GamePass to begin with, let alone Day 1. Although Sony publishes the games in the series, I think the MLB holds the final decision on where the games will end up. At the end of the day, this a big win for Xbox players and a big loss for PlayStation loyalists who have been faithful to the series for a long time and must still continue to pay full price.

I don't own Netflix or HBO Max movies and shows either. Gamepass you also get discounts for purchasing the game as well. It is still better than simply buying at $70 or even if I found it for $55. This isn't hard to understand how this works. I am moving on to a different game even if it was a couple of months. PS plus you got to keep paying for the service to keep the games.
