Gaf tell me about the hobbies that you enjoy doing outside or share a picture of one of the best moments you captured. Doesn't have to be physical it could just be you enjoying a good book while chilling in a hammock or something.

I work in tech and have always balanced out my sedentary lifestyle by being outside as often as possible. Covid took its toll on me mentally and the best way I found to counter it was to get outside away from everything even more than usual. Because of this I picked up Snowboarding again which I haven't done in over 15 years. Here is a wild snowstorm that I was in over the winter:

Here is another pic I took this winter on a BlueBird day:

And most recently I finally got to take my kayak out which I bought before the pandemic. I didn't think I would enjoy kayaking as much as I did but it was tons of fun to cruise the inland waters and see nature up-close.

In my younger days I was an avid rock climber who spent a month living outside in Rifle Colorado as I explored every sport route possible. I haven't climbed in years but think of it often. Gaf tell me your stories.

I love the outdoors. Camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. I’m patiently waiting for warm days so I can spend some quality time on the water.
I started camping earlier than normal this season just because we have been so anxious to get out. We have only done cabin camping because of how cold the nights are. It has been amazing. I have quite a few trips booked in the coming months and I am sure I will have some great pics to share with everyone.

Nothing too crazy honestly.

1) Last May we tried kayaking for the first time. I'll just speak to the people that have never done it or anything like it, which I assume is the vast majority of people here if you're anything like me. It was like $50 for a two person kayak rental. We went on a level 2 course which was beginner level, but still had some shallow rapids. I'm not a good swimmer, and had a life jacket.

It was damn fun. Just have to steer around rocks and go down little ramps. Loved it, and went back a 2nd time. We're going again in May to a different place. We saw many wipeouts, but on most of it you could just stand up on the ground and have your head above water. There were some deeper sections but the water was pretty calm with zero risk of falling out at that point.

2) I had a trip to Peru booked for a 3 day hike up to Macchu Picchu, but it got nuked due to COVID. I was training for it constantly to try and get ready for 8 hour days hiking up mountains and ancient stone stairs. We may try to book it again next year.

I have done a lot of white water rafting but never in a kayak. I have only done the easy paddling kayaking but am looking forward to eventually hitting some rapids.

Bummer to hear about your trip but it does sound like a dream trip for me lol. I have it on my bucket list to see the Machu Pichu ruins. I hope you get a chance to go after all this crap clears up. If you do make sure you take some good pics.

For sure, I definitely will if I ever make it lol. It would have been totally sick. 3 days non-stop; a real trial (for me at least).

Started getting into RC cars recently as a way to get my kids outside and because it was something I loved as a kid. Nothing too crazy yet, sub $100 cars and some fpv camera stuff, but you can get some bad ass cars for pretty cheap nowadays.

Man it’s crazy how expensive those cars can get. Some people are insane about their setup.

I recently moved from the city to the country. Bought myself a kayak and waiting for delivery, this is from my house. Hopefully I won't drown the fist time lol.

Yo give me your house lol. That is a view.

I'll post pictures in the summer time when the foliage is flourishing.

Behind my garden fence is a small field I like to walk around, it's a little section of peace away from the city life. It's entirely surround by trees with hundreds of different shades of green, hundreds of various different berry bushes (Blackberry, red currants, some Brit equivalent of Blueberries) and a couple of different types of apple trees.
It's nice walking around there and foraging when they ripen up.

Wife and I bought bikes last summer. Hadn't really biked around since I was a kid so it was pretty fun peddling around trails and neighbourhoods. Got a seat for the kid on the back and she loved it. Got her one of those strider bikes this year. So lots of that.

Used to fish a lot and going to get back into that this summer.

Slack lining as well.

Depending on how much I get back for tax returns I might buy a downhill mountain bike. Living in Vancouver I feel like I'm missing out on amazing trail riding so yea.

I got an AWD RC car that goes close to 20mph for under $70, 1/14 scale. Those $500 cars look awesome, but I'd probably enjoy it less having to worry about damage every time I hit something or flipped it.

I've actually been doing a lot of outdoor crap the last few months.

Went skiing. Went paddleboarding. Been riding my bicycle on the trail. I'm getting my motorcycle license May 9th and buying my first bike in a couple months (probably a Ninja 400).

Oh and I went to Universal Studios and Clearwater Beach (during spring break. It was the vacation from hell.)

Tried to get a decent picture of this spider and it’s super nice web in Muir Woods National Monument, one of my most favorite places in the whole wide US (since I’ve only been to Mexico when I was a lil turd).

This was Sunday afternoon in Encinitas, there is a large flat rock which will keep your stuff out of the water as there isn’t a bunch of sandy beach at this particular spot. There was a large flat rock jutting 45 deg right behind which made for a fairly comfy seat to lay back and watch the waves.

Gonna hit up Mojave at night soon for some star watching and try to find some other nice hikes and walks in SoCal while I’m lucky enough to be there for work 👍

I have seriously been considering buying one of the electric longboards. The good ones are expensive but my buddies say they are worth it. I am just worried I would break my neck lol.

My buddy has a boosted board. He loves it. I would get one but I live in the boonies.

I rarely praise the sun, living on the North Oregon Coast, but it's okay in my book. Such a strange thing, to be the genesis of our creation, and the revelation of our doom.

fishing is one of the greatest things ever

cooking outside is one of the greatest things ever

both together

especially by a stream or lake

with some homies

some alcohol some weed

fuck me
Nothing like smoking some weed or having a drink and sitting around the campfire with the family, the bacon sizzling while you wait for it to be done.

I am looking to get back into fishing but haven't caught anything since I was a child. I tried it recently a couple years ago with my dogs and it didn't go well. My dog kept trying to chase the hook every time I cast the line lol. Next time I will leave the dogs and just go with wife lol.

Do you do any fly fishing? I have it on the bucket list to learn because some of the pictures make it look so tranquil.

I was planning on going kayaking again this weekend but instead spent all weekend at the pool since it finally opened. It’s not the same as being out in nature but still feels good to soak up the sun. Now I just have I find the aloe Vera.
