Still the best (and only) good game of 2021.
Why have you discounted the current crop of games that have done very well and ignore eagerly anticipated games coming out later this year?

It honestly is, some will be missing out some great games just because it doesn't have 90 + meta score.

Score alone wont tell you nothing about the actual game, even if it gets 90+ score there is no guarantee you gonna enjoying the game.
Honestly. Some of the highest scoring, most critically acclaimed games just don't "click" with me. I have for instance, never completed a Red Dead game. It's beautiful, plays great but for some reason bores the ever living fuck out of me

This made me double down to trust my gut rather than trying to decipher how reviewers / audience might think of the game as a trend.
The animation to me always looked off since the start. and the scale of the environment (compared to your tiny body) was always impressive.

Good game to boot and pass the controller to your little niece.

I see that the OP only posted negative reviews in the first post. He's been shitting on in in every thread I have seen him. No hidden agenda.

Edit: My guess for PC version is spot on for now.

Were people optimistic about this? Didn't it always look awful?
Nope, if anything folks were generally curious. There's were literally no games announced at the time and I thought it looked like a creative indie title. That was before it got swallowed up in the "next gen drought-induced console war".
Now it's DOA because people live to argue more than they want to be right

Reviews are as expected but won't stop me from picking it up down the line. Some of my favorite games of all time had aggregate scores of 60-75.

Edit: 3.5/10 seems like way and I mean waaaay to harsh. That would suggest that the game is hardly playable. I would mean the game would be in the same fodder as stuff like Ride to Hell. At worst it's average as in 5/10.

I was really looking forward to this. Once word of the review embargo I hastily cancelled my preorder and am glad I did.

I will probably get it regardless....It will at least be interesting and I want to support the developers. Otherwise we will get even more sequels, remakes, reboots, ports....etc.....at least it's a new IP!

Hey OP, why only bad reviews in the first post?

it's a good game. Not a masterpiece but a solid game.

Always looked like style over substance for me and looked like it always needed polish with impacts, animations and hoped they would smooth those out. Maybe they will but might take some time like 6 months with updates and I will see if I want to jump in.

Most games have a review embargo?
A new IP with an embargo the day before or day of release is highly suspect. If they had faith in it they’d want reviews out ahead of time to build positive buzz. Sequels and existing IPs already have built in buzz.

Instead we got a bunch of hands off previews till a week before release and they give copies to YouTube influencers. It’s becoming the text book on what do do if you know you got a turd on your hands.

Hmm.. Character creation, open world, cute fuzzy creatures. Per reviewers repetitive 🥱(I mean Return to the same spot and rinse and repeat replayability), 1080p 60fps, no Sony publishing might drop the score a bit, 20 person dev team, able to save.

My only issue with the game is one reviewer having controller response issues on hard difficulty. Reviewers are on top of this one. Good on them!

I have no clue why there was ever any hype for this game...
5+ year development hell only to show off what looked like a ps3 game during their previews, honestly should've shorted Embracer Group stock after that.

I was expecting a score in the mid to late 70's. Still gonna get it tomorrow. All the gameplay I've seen in the reviews looks fun to me.
