Everyone should rewatch the original trailer cause this new one looks better.
-There’s a ton more detail on screen;
-It’s colourful, massively colourful now, the original (above) was mostly green
-The lightings improved (check out the differences in the mammoth fights)
The over the top scene at the beginning looks like one of those TV resolution demos.
we are talking about gameplay in terms of development, horizon is simple ubisoft stuff, botw's physics are more complex than anything on horizon. boring or not, it's what it is.
From youtube lolWhat were you watching this video for the muddy screengrab on, an OG Nokia Razr?
Not the 4K codec, el oh elFrom youtube lol
That is pretty much the main reason I think. They can only do so much with the game since development did originally start on ps4 and was later adjusted to the ps5. The game still does look really good just not Oh my god good.I'll be honest here. I expected more. But I guess it's still too early in the gen and typically we see mind blowing gfx somewhere mid gen.
This is also releasing on PS4 too right? Maybe that's why.
Physics are important though. Horizon look great , but vegetation doesnt move dynamically as you brush against it. Parts of the enviroment break but probably only if they are scripted to. However water physics seem to be much improved over zero dawn (as in it actually exists now)The much vaunted "physics" lol. Keep telling yourself that, bub.
Man, c'mon. You can be a fanboy but horizon has NOTHING on botw's gameplay. That's why one still relevant and the other is ancient history.
I don't really care to be honest just pointing out the double standard that all we need to keep that same energy.I mean that screenshot looks bad but still a lot better than then the Halo one. Even without the zoom in, Halo still looked awful in comparison to HZD. I'm sure they have done a massive overhaul since then. After all there was a reason why they all of a sudden delayed it. The backlash was pretty severe.
that's where you're totally wrong. Horizon is normal scripted stuff and people still don't understand that botw is all about the creativity of the player. If you're lame your gameplay will be lame, if you're good then you could be this:BOTW is a totally different game, I dont even know why they are compared. BOTW has terrible combat and is mostly exploration focused.
It looks super nice, but the more fidelity increases the more you notice the things there are missing. Like for example, those raptors must weight half a ton and yet they walk on sand as if it was concrete - they neither sink their feet on it, neither kick up sand nor have it get stuck on their feet.
that's where you're totally wrong. Horizon is normal scripted stuff and people still don't understand that botw is all about the creativity of the player. If you're lame your gameplay will be lame, if you're good then you could be this:
If you simply want footprints and they aren't there then have at it.
If you want the machines sinking in to the sand and struggling under their weight due to "sand physics" then no bueno. There's not a single game out there that simulates what it's like to walk/run in soft sand and it's for a reason.
It's not normal for Playstation studios, they usually push the gen forward before third parties do despite install base. What is the genesis of this cross gen mantra? We're currently in the 8th generation of consoles. That means this isn't the first launch period we've ever had. I've never heard so much moaning about games made for multiple platforms before.
This is totally normal, as the install base of the current gen dwarfs the next gen by over 12:1. I've never heard it used as some strike against a game until last year, when people used it to knock MS' strategy.
There's no reason a game has to be limited. What would HFW do better aesthetically if it was PS5 only? Seriously, does the argument have any backing or justification?
Is it the idea that there are no flying mounts? If that's the case, how did so many games on the PS4 and older manage flying? Did LODs become a thing of the past with this game? You can just shrink the draw distance, drop the LOD, and limit the travel speed to make it work. It's not like it's a multiplayer game where old console users must have the same experience. Perhaps there won't be flying mounts because it's a game design choice. It might break the intentional gating of certain maps that is the to force creativity and exploration, instead of letting you take the god's eye to a map.
This isn't a game that was ever going to have R&C's portal mechanics. It's going to use the SSD to stream more data into a frame, and that's totally possible now.
The level design on the demo is just your basic tutorial stuff, as already pointed out. The first game was open world with massive areas you could explore, and also smaller ones. It's not a hardware limitation, it's a game design choice. It's why we will always have linear games, because certain design choice require forcing the player along a path to encounter challenges in a desired order. The more open sandbox areas will still be there, but they're not exactly ideal for setting up encounters that showcase the desired mechanics. It's why tutorial levels are usually linear and scripted before releasing you into a more open part of the map. The PS4 didn't hold back Miles on the PS5, as Spiderman swings around a city, and gets into boys fights. There are basic game structures that will always exist, independent of the hardware.

Idk man, seems like denial. I know for a fact that horizon is miles better than breath of the wild in terms of story, technical and graphical aspects, just like I know botw has better gameplay and design and I can say it without feeling any type of way. Fanboys usually say "that game is boring that game is trash" like what I'm seeing here.Or maybe different gamers like different things, and some preffered HZD over BOTW, like i did.
Denial?, so people who preffered HZD over BOTW are just wrong, and their personnel tastes dont exist?.Idk man, seems like denial. sorry man can't agree with you, combat on horizon feels to heavy for what it is and too easy with its stealth option. Only "difficult" thing was the stupid birds."normal scripted stuff"
Meanwhile, in BOTW, you play the same clunky basic combat repeated ad nauseum for 100 hours with breaking weapons and crap constantly and brain dead AI, yet you can light some trees on fire..
Woooeyyyy, so much fan, so much innovation
And this is coming from someone who loved BOTW and consider it a better game than the original Horizon, but mainly because it's a great exploration game. The combat pales in comparison to Horizon.
The soundtrack is so good in this. Especially at the end when she takes out the Elephant. It just builds up and up. Just wow.
Really like the destruction at the end too. It seems all those half standing structures at the end can be broken.
The trees were only broken in scripted cutscenes, but I am guessing if they can do this in realtime they should be able to do trees as well.
no, people who can't accept one is better than the other in some aspects is just wrong.Denial?, so people who preffered HZD over BOTW are just wrong, and their personnel tastes dont exist?.
Ok then
Man what aboring world we would live in, and what a boring species we would be, if it was a s simple as that.no, people who can't accept one is better than the other in some aspects is just wrong.
not boring to see things how they are, I'd say is pretty biased and toxic to just say this whole game is better than whole other game just because of the pretty graphics.Man what aboring world we would live in, and what a boring species we would be, if it was a s simple as that.
People have different tastes, people like different things, different people prefer certain aspects of games over other people. Thats a GOOD thing.

So why are you so threatened by this game?not boring to see things how they are, I'd say is pretty biased and toxic to just say this whole game is better than whole other game just because of the pretty graphics.
That's not true. Check link's feet:
What they're doing is just having the colision layer lower than it would be on hard terrain and throw in some vfx for the sand splashes.
Doing it only for the dinos on hzd would be tricker since you've got humans and dinos so they'd need a second collision layer just for the dinos.
its not just you. Her character model was the first thing I noticed that looked way beyond anything we have seen this gen, and thats when i knew that there would be no downgrade from the original trailer. Is it just me or does Aloy look like CG? Seriously, i'm blown away by her character model and animations. There's also a nice glow look around her... it just looks too good to be true almost
Plenty of games simulate walking on different surfaces. Dragon age, tomb raider. If you simply want footprints and they aren't there then have at it.
If you want the machines sinking in to the sand and struggling under their weight due to "sand physics" then no bueno. There's not a single game out there that simulates what it's like to walk/run in soft sand and it's for a reason.
Because PS players deserves to play the best. How does Playstation keep pulling off games like this? Amazing!
Denial. They’re smoking denial.WTF are people smoking nowadays?
How am I threatened, I was blown away by the graphics and pretty "meh" about the gameplay because it feels just like the first one. Still gonna buy it but I'm not some automatic fanboy. Just like a criticize botw washed out colors and bad framerate and still like it.So why are you so threatened by this game?
