Rip, I honestly hate communities like KF and certain cancel culture communities, a lot of times it ends like this, people collectively hate each other and innocent people are dying for no f*cking reason, hive mind cancer.

So here's the thing, I don't know who this is, and don't want to be seen as a defender of KF, but I've been paying attention to that site off and on and they usually don't mess with people unless something was done to cause them to go after a person. When you see the people they target that end up being pedo's, or scammers, or DSP, Jew Wario, and Spoony etc and their problems.
I'm not saying whether this guy did anything wrong, but I think people are jumping a gun a bit too early on KF. It may be a rare case of them being assholes for no reason without something triggering it, but I think it's far too early to tell. I don't post there but I have been in the know about the back and forths in and outside that community and I just think we should wait before we side with either side.

Never heard of kiwi farms or whatever.
All I know is the person responsible for BSnes is also responsible for a lot of my happiness because I played all my Roms on that emulator and had so much fun rediscovering classic games. This is sad news. At least they left behind one hell of a legacy. Hopefully they are at peace now.

Really sad news. It should never come down to this, and so long as no one is affecting you personally, everyone should be able to live their lives independently and free from Amy kind of bull**** like this. Really upsetting on the part of Kiwi if that is indeed the case. Any life lost is tragic, especially one that maybe could have been prevented, or if someone was trying to find a way out like in this case. As common as it seems to be these days, it still shocks me how cruel and carefree people can be about others. I hope byuu/Near has found peace somehow and I wish them everlasting peace. Very sad. My condolences to all who knew him.

Never was a big emulation person, but damn, I feel so bad for Near. Rest in peace man.
I was on edge with Null (KF's owner) when he refused to pull the Christchurch stream archive (the way he responded mainly), but this just blows it way over the edge. Jesus Christ man, you're a fucking sociopath.

I've been reading something to this effect for the last few hours, but it all keeps getting deleted. Apparently someone called the Japanese police to report it. They have a unit set up specifically to respond to the results of suicide, with a clean up team employed by the state.

Something we could all learn to take to heart from this is that we should never let unfounded negativity (from others) get to us. If they do not enrich our lives and seek to tear us down, then we should dismiss and disregard their malicious words and opinions.

No one pushed him to do anything. Kiwifarms is shit but calling it on kiwifarms is just wrong, most of his social beef was with 4chan if anything. He was unstable for years and very confrontional even before he became furry. There is a reason why multiple people who worked with him badmouthed him and he effectively quit emulation scene being heavily depressed he wasted his life on it while not doing something important in his life.
The last thing he should have done witb his mental diseases was to stay on internet.
Moreover the kiwi thread about him was like 13 pages at the time which mostly covered his spat in emulation community + his tweets giving advice to minors on how to get hormones and advicing them on srs. Nothing major.
Daily reminder trans have 40% suecide rate regardless if they transition and attempted suicide is much higher than that.
Those people shouldn't be near any kind of social media.
RIP to him if true. It is a shame that we live in society where instead of helping such people we just push them into self harm by encouraging their delusions.

Not really commented on this because it makes me too fucking angry for words, and truthfully I neither need nor want that rage in my life.
All I can say is two things; If you've ever been bullied, no matter how much you grow and become stronger and more capable of defending yourself, the feeling never really goes away. This needs to be factored in to how you deal on the internet, and you cannot ever allow yourself to become too dependant on it for social and emotional support because there are legions of shitbags of all stripes out there.
Cultivate resilience, because its the only antidote when weak, stupid, vicious people will always be able to justify a reason for their misbehaviour. It might be "for the lulz", it might be "to be on the right side of history", it doesn't really matter why they do it. And with no consistent "why" there can't be a proper solution legislated/implemented without a draconian curtailing of freedom of speech.

I was just enjoying a bit of emulation this weekend. I finally got around to configuring the BSNES main branch on RetroArch as well as the BSNES HD fork for the new widescreen Mario World hack. What a time to be alive! We have this man to thank for such a possibility.
It's such a shame Near took his own life. Mental health is no joke, and the internet is a wonderful thing, but if you don't have your mental health under control the internet can quickly turn to madness. I went through divorce back in 2019, then covid happened in 2020. I swore off social media, and most of the internet, and alot of the negativity that goes with it. It wasn't till this year till I felt mentally able to handle it again. RIP Near.

And the other, and the easiest one, would have been going to another page (like this one for example) to post all his emulation work related, here kiwi farms would be banned and problem solved.
